Summary: Better than i remember....
Review: Thanks for putting this on DVD. I bought this for my 3 year old son, thinking that it might not be as good as remembered. But I am amazed at how good the songs were and cartoons are so cute, much better than I remember. My son is already singing along and I hope this helps him learn his grammar rules easily. Our favorite is, of course, "Conjunction Junction". I hope the artists who sang on this and the people who produced it got the royalties that they deserve over the years!

Summary: Great!, but slightly misleading...
Review: This is one of the best DVD collections ever made and I applaud Disney for taking the time to release it. However, there were two things that bugged me a little when I finally got the DVD. Number one was the Scooter Computer & Mr. Chips 3 song set, yes you read that right, they only included 3 of the 4 songs, choosing to exclude "Introduction". But the real problem with that was that every single description that I ever read about the DVD said that all 4 were on there, they aren't. The other qualm was the HEAVILY EDITED Weather Show. They apparently had to remove every mention of the phrase, "The Greatest Show On Earth!", due to legal problems with Ringling Bros. & Barnum & Baily Circus. The result is a sloppy edit of the song, with the beginning, parts of the middle, and the end removed. This is not what I was expecting, to say the least. But apart from those two problems, this is a great buy! I cannot reccomend it enough for anyone who has ever loved Schoolhouse Rock! Darn!, that's the end!...

Summary: Everything Schoolhouse Rock Finally Out
Review: If you grew up in the 70's and 80's and ever indulged yourself in Saturday Morning cartoons, you should know and be able to hum Schoolhouse Rock! Now that the set is out, one can look at the DVD and appreciate what we are given. Finally in one place, all of the Schoolhouse Rocks that we know and love, as well as some that we may have forgotten or not loved (I don't remember Money Rock). For the completist, all of the rocks are there, including the newly released "Scooter Computer and Mr. Chips" set that are fun, but truly seem dated. You can go to specific titles, or hit the highlights with the Top 10 Jukebox - great for jumping into the CD.

A brand new Schoolhouse Rock is included - "I'm gonna send your vote to college" about the Electoral College. It's interesting and in the style of our favorites, but it lacks some of the pizzazz of the originals. I suppose it's very topical after the 2000 election, but I just don't see it having the fun of education that things like "Suffering until Suffrage" did.

They could have stopped here with just all 46 original songs, but luckily for us the bonuses are fantastic. Music Videos as an outgrowth of the Schoolhouse Rocks! Rocks CD of artists interpreting their favorite songs. See how much you really remember in the trivia quiz. The inclusion of the Nike commercial featuring "Three is a Magic Number" shows how well Rocky entered the popular culture.

A fitting tribute to a great set of work made for the kids, and the kids in all of us. C'mon and sing along - you know the words! "Conjunction Junction, what's your function..."

Summary: Nothing Like it - and nothing better...
Review: I just got the DVD yesterday, and haven't seen these in years. I felt like a kid again (I'm almost 41), and remembered the words to most of the songs! My favorites will always be "Three is a magic number", "I'm just a bill", and "Conjunction Junction". Is this back on the air? If not, it needs to be. It would sure beat some of the saturday morning garbage currently on TV! This is the kind of education that sticks with kids(I know it did with me). I even ordered a 2nd copy for the nieces and nephews (they're not getting my set)! You can't go wrong with Schoolhouse Rock!

Summary: Must have for all Gen-Xers
Review: This is a must have for all Gen-Xers and for their kids. The songs are great. The picture has been cleaned up with vibrant colours. Not to mention that there is something to be learned from each short.

The one negative point I have to make is the glossing over of history in favour of a pro-American stance, but all historians are biased. It is still very enjoyable.

Summary: Complete set? Hardly!
Review: Schoolhouse Rock! is supposed to be complete on DVD but Disney has pulled another fast one. They have left out one of the four "Scooter Computer & Mr. Chips" videos. Shame on them! I urge everyone to contact Disney and demand a remastering!

Summary: Schoolhouse Rock Is A National Institute!
Review: SCHOOL HOUSE ROCK is a fantastic collection of the musical education tools I group up with starting in 1972. (Am I dating myself?) These are great ways for young kids (and adults) to learn science, math history and grammar in a way that creators Radford Stone, David McCall, George Newall, Bob Dorough and Jack Sheldon never thought would be as lasting or revolution. I made it through social studies and history thanks to the tunes of the 'Preamble', "The Shot Heard Round The World', 'Sufferin' Till Suffrage', 'I'm Just A Bill' and 'The Three Ring Government'.

If you don't know what I am talking about these are basic, yet clever, animated shorts that use music to teach you the ins and outs of government, science, multiplication, grammar and even money. They are cleverly written and organized. The DVD has them sectioned off into their various categorized, but you can run them all, play them randomly or play the top ten - whatever you want to do.

The Extras are very good. You can watch with the captions and sign-a-long or even program only the ones you want to see. Michael Eisner even introduces the Making Of the newest cartoon - I'm going to 'Send Your Vote To College'. There is the original Emmy Award Broadcast where they received their 4 awards (over Sesame Street). There is also the Scooter and Mr. Chips series of Schoolhouse Rocks. The commentary is great, listening to the creators talk about the production, voices and music they used.

There are even modern day music videos of the songs that made them famous. This is a must for every family with kids. Watch it with your kids and sing-a-long and you'll have a great time too! Really this is worth every dollar! (8-27-02)

Summary: AWESOME, well worth the wait....
Review: I gave a review before I got my SHR dvd, but now I finally have it, and I must say, that it was well worth the wait and the price I paid for it, and then some. There are two dvds in the set, and one has all the 46 videos on it , all in top notch, quality transfer. They did an awesome job on this one. Im giving my vhs tapes away. I got two copies, one to play, and one to keep. Im glad I did, because these are pricless. The other dvd has a shuffle with 20 videos, that you can play in a shuffle mode, or one at a time. So really, both dvds have the videos on them, plus rare ones, like The Weather Show, and classic intros where the kids are walking through the snow to get to the school house (before School House Rocky). We all need to drop Disney a line, and tell them thanks for putting these priceless jewels out. Im stoked. I would absolutely recommend this two dvd set to anyone, especially anyone who grew up in the 70s. I have been waiting for this for a long time. Was it worth it, OH YES!!

Summary: A FUN Educational Tool!
Review: When I saw that Schoolhouse Rock was coming out on DVD, I was immediately taken back to 7th grade American History when our teacher asked if anyone knew the Preamble to the Constitution. I raised my hand and stood up and recited the entire thing. My teacher was very impressed and said that I had it down perfectly, except that it wasn't actually a song. That was news to me! As a mother I thought back on that day and realized the educational value of these little songs that pack so much important information, and I just had to treat my kids to the fun.
