Summary: A tale of love
Review: When a grandfather (Peter Falk) decides to tell his grandson the story his father told him when he was not feeling well, his grandson (Fred Savage) is rather unconvinced he will enjoy a romance story. His grandfather convinces him there is not only true love, there is also adventure, sword fighting and all sorts of intrigue.

And so the story begins:

We find Westley (Cary Elwes) and Buttercup (Robin Wright) falling in love. One of the best lines in the movie is: "This is true love. Think this happens everyday?"

However their time together is short lived and news arrives home of Westley's death. Buttercup is then kidnapped and is supposed to marry Prince Humperdinck. She throws herself into the water to escape, only to be rescued just before being eaten by a rather viscious shreaking eel.

Westly rather humorously tries to save Buttercup, only to find himself in a worse situation each time. She believes he will eventually rescue her.

Dry humor abounds.

Summary: Great, great movie
Review: This is one of my favorite movies of all time. If you've seen this movie, you are guaranteed to love it. As they say in the movie, it's got everything: comedy... action... advention... true love... pirates. The Princess Bride is hillariously funny.
I've actually had to replace my VHS with DVD because I watched it until it was worn out!

Summary: A great fantasy film
Review: The Princess Bride is one of the best fantasy films of all time. It if filled with humor, action, adventure, everything you could possibly want in a fantasy movie. When the princess gets kidnapped, an old love must come to save her. But the prince will not have it that easy, this movie has many twists and turns, that keep it interesting the whole way through. It has a great cast of characters, some of them being Cary Elwes (Robin Hood in Robin Hood Men in tights) and even Andre the Giant who plays a funny and helpful giant, whose heart is bigger than his brain. This book has a great story to go along with a great and wonderful cast of people. One of the few good fantasy films on the market, a definate must.

Summary: As You Wish

Review:
The new special edition costs twice as much for "special features" that should have been included in the first place. I say forget that. One of the few films of wonder that satisfies the whole family (I know one family which used to sit around and watch this on VHS, quoting every "fun" line) without showing any naughty bits or using naughty language. Casting this ensemble alone was a work of genius. So, when you get home tonight, having been climbing the Cliffs of Insanity, do yourself a favor and get this one. It's also a good "guilty pleasure" film for the collection of the single man. I should know.

Summary: Love it? or Hate it? Tough call...
Review: The Princess Bride was a good movie...in a weird sort of way. It was action filled and very interesting, but there are some scenes were you catch yourself scratching your head and raising your eyebrows. The movie is very different from the book, in a good way. IF YOU'VE READ THE BOOK, HATED IT, AND VOWED NEVER TO WATCH THE MOVIE,(like I happened to do), you might want to rethink it. The movie is good, but it is probably not suitable for young children. Rent it, see it, but probably don't buy it.

Summary: Fun and Very Enjoyable!
Review: The first thing I have to say is 'If you've seen the movie you've read the book.' That is how closely they are related. But still, If you've enjoyed this movie-no questions asked-read the book! It's perfect for all ages and a good read aloud book as well. It has everything the movie has and more background on each of the characters too. But anyways, this movie is really fun and I have proudly made it a part of my DVD collection. This movie will catch the intrest of a variety of age groups-and if you are a teacher it is a good movie to share with your class weather it's 2nd grade or 8th (I remember my 8th grade science teacher giving us a break and showing it to us.) So there you have it-Watch the movie-read the book and live happily ever after.

Summary: One Of My Favorites!
Review: What can I say? Very funny, enchanting, and of course Cary Elwes is excellent!
This movie has it all; a big dose of comedy, romance, action, a princess and her hero, what more could you want?
If you like fantasy/comedy this is a must have for your collection.

I also very highly recommend, Robin Hood Men in Tights (also staring Elwes)

Summary: Inconceivable!
Review: The Princess Bride is a great adventure/comedy that is laid out as a fairy tale told to a curious grandson (Fred Savage). The main character, Westley (Cary Elwes) does a marvelous job in his attempt at rescuing princess Buttercup. I don't think I could ever tire of the silly slapstick antics displayed throughout the movie. My only regret is that I didn't wait for the collector's edition to come out before I purchased the dvd, only because I enjoy going through all the extra features.
