Rating: Summary: Finally A Movie Worth Watching Review: A decent, honost and well thought story about a father son relationship as it relates to high school wrestling. The main character is believable, understandable and realistic. The story takes place in a small Pennsylvania coal town and closely portrays an American family as only an independent film can. The film footage, style and soundtrack shames most 'big budget' productions. It is enlightening to watch a movie that isn't about murder, capital crimes, adultry and violent drug/terrorist themes. Additionally, this film isn't pushing any consumer products or services in some thinly veiled story-line pretense. If you enjoy decent films, follow amatuer wrestling or just like good believeable actors then buy this film.
Rating: Summary: Excellent!!! Review: And this movie is amazing. A must see for any family. I could not believe how much of my youngest son was alike the boy in the movie and the father I could see my oldest son. This was the best movie I have seen in a very long time. Thanks to the makers of the film. Everyone should watch it with their children.
Rating: Summary: Alters review of Reversal Review: Being a former wrestler and now a father of three wrestlers, this movie meant a great deal to me. The wrestling action was authentic ( a first in the industry!), the story was gripping and the acting was superb. I also listen to the soundtrack on cd for easy listening and to help motivate my young wreslers on our way to a competition. The story is set in a beautiful area of our country and the fall season scenery was breathtaking. In our circle of wrestling families, the movie was received with mixed emotions, only because of its honesty in how it dealt with the sport of wrestling and some of its more unpleasant aspects. The movie was honest and that is what is important. And , even more important is the fact that this movie portarys how not to deal with the issue of weight loss and the most important point of all . . . how valuable, significant and long-lasting are the bonds between a father and a son and the fact that we should never, ever take them for granted. Thanks, Reversal, for an awesome movie that I am proud to have in my library.
Rating: Summary: Finally, another great wrestling movie! Review: By far the best wrestling movie ever made! Even better than Vision Quest...more real wrestling and a look at the truth behind what high school wrestlers go through. Highly recommended!!
Rating: Summary: College Wrestler on Reversal Review: First off, I liked this movie. The problem lies in the way it looks at the sport of wrestling. The movie was endorsed by many great wrestlers and so I assumed it would provide a brilliant look at the determination and effort it takes to excel at the sport, while also showing the hardships that most wrestlers face but overcome. Instead, I felt like I was watching a two-hour bashing of my favorite sport. Wrestling is a hard sport, everybody knows that. In this movie, however, we get the story of a kid who hates what he is doing so much that his only way to move on is to quit or maybe even die. I don't want this message sent about the sport of wrestling. I was a college wrestler myself, and though I hated cutting weight and constantly practicing, I love the sport and can never repay it for the person that it has made me. For these reasons, I feel like the people who watch this movie will have a jaded view of what the sport is all about. I prefer Vision Quest as a movie that makes you feel good and proud to see a winner. Though Vision Quest is a little corny, at least Louden Swayne has the convictions to know what he wanted, even when everyone told him it couldn't be done. Now that is the story of a hero.
Rating: Summary: scary realization Review: I found this movie powerful, and an awesome portrayl of the real-life struggle that happens too often among wrestlers. I have seen it happen in my small town, and don't doubt that it will continue to happen in the future of the sport. I'm not saying it is a bad sport, it teaches not only teamwork, but also responsibility for ones own actions. The best is at the end of the movie where it says "for all fathers" because the reason the fathers push their sons too hard is because they care, and believe that they can succeed. It is difficult to find the right balance of push, but if a wrestler loses heart in the sport, there is not much one can do to bring it back. This movie is AWESOME and I recomend it to any fan of any sport.
Rating: Summary: Indy Movie of the Year Review: I have been involved with the sport of wrestling for more than a 13 years, both as a wrestler and a high school varsity coach. All I can say is this movie is a MUST SEE, no matter what sport you follow. This movie crosses the sports barrier. Although REVERSAl is centered around wrestling as a theme, it is more about a father who will do anything to help his son succeed! I have never experienced such realistic, raw wrestling talent from the movie industry before REVERSAL; likewise, no movie with a sport as a foundation has ever taken me on such an emotional roller coaster. In fact the last movie to send me on such an emotional roller coaster was TITANIC -- the highest grossing movie of all time (at least until Star Wars came out for the 2nd time). THIS IS A MUST SEE MOVIE -- DON'T MISS OUT -- DON'T MISS THE MESSAGE!!
Rating: Summary: Reversal is a great movie! Review: I have watched Reversal twice. I have a grandson in wrestling and love to watch him compete. The movie made me realize that wrestling is a great sport to build character and the movie told a great story of the love and conflict between the father and the son. I recomend Reversal to anyone who has children who participate in sports. It's well worth the time. Gloria Greenberg
Rating: Summary: Action AND Acting Review: I loved it! Although Reversal is a film that's focused on more than wrestling -- it doesn't leave you wanting for mat action. Great cinematography, too.
