Summary: Extremely amusing and fun for all ages...
Review: (...) I enjoy this musical so much.
It does funny (any scene involving cookie monster), heart-warming (the huggums), and vitriol (old Oscar is the ultimate incarnation of the sort of street punk that you'd love to give a hard kicking to).
I watch it mainly for the comedy sections and there are many.
Plus we get to see two very fondly rememebered characters namely Northern Calloway (Dave) and Will Lee (Mr Hooper) live and at their best. Of course they're both dead which is a shame but this is the sort of thing that you should not pass up.
Buy, buy, buy.

Review: As all Sesame Street videos this Christmas tape was great, it kept the kids attention and they enjoyed it. I highly recommend it for anyone with small children.

Review: As much a treat for adults as for kids, this is Sesame Street at its best: humor, fun, creativity, all with a good message behind it. A must-own for the original Sesame Street generation, since it's great to see Mr. Looper, I mean, Hooper again.

Review: Christmas Eve on Sesame Street is an enjoyable Christmas story for the whole family. When Oscar asks Big Bird "How does Santa fit down those tiny little chimney's?" Big Bird becomes desperate for the answer. He sets off to question all the children he can find and gathers some very interesting and humorous opinions. With Christmas Eve drawing close, Big Bird fears that if Santa can't fit down the chimney he won't be able to leave any presents. What Big Bird learns is that you don't always have to know how things work, just that they do work. I recommend this video to any and all children that celebrate Christmas.

Review: Christmas without the Grinch, It's a Wonderful Life and that Santa Norelco commercial. Add to this list Christmas Eve on Sesame Street. You won't see the newer Sesame Street denizens, but Big Bird, Oscar, Bert and Ernie, Maria are there. So keep Christmas with you all through the year.

Summary: A Christmas Tradition!
Review: Christmas-time at my house, growing up in Connecticut, meant watching my dad stumble up the stairs lugging our Christmas tree, as we watched this fantastic movie. Or, if it was aired in the evening, sometimes it would be interrupted when the "elves" would ring our doorbell, having delivered our Christmas Eve pyjamas. It seems that all of my local PBS stations have abandoned airing this classic, but happily, it can now be seen in digital quality! The whole gang from the '70s is here (as in, no Elmo), and they even keep some of the lesser-liked characters (like Prairie Dawn) to a minimum. Best parts: a hilarious Cookie Monster attempting to convey his Christmas wishes to Santa, Oscar's rendition of "I Hate Christmas," and Ernie and Bert exchanging presents, with a little help from the late Mr. Hooper. It's definitely not Christmas without this one!

Review: I absolutely love this video. The songs are beautiful, the characters are endearing and hilarious and most of all this story teaches a good lesson: that it is more important to give than receive and that Christmas is not about getting presents, trees and food but it is about family and being together and that is what Christmas is all about. Awesome video for all ages, go and buy it and it will help you realize the true meaning of Christmas in this material world.

Summary: A Christmas Tradition
Review: I am 21 years old and I have been watching this every Christmas since I can remember. I am one of four children and every year we watch this video, now on DVD. Three of us are adults and it still isn't Christmas if we don't watch "Christmas Eve on Sesame Street". It's sweet, funny, and it spreads the true meaning of Christmas, sharing, giving, and being kind to others. It is so heartwarming. The story of "The Gift of the Magi" is shown with Bert and Ernie. Mr. Hooper, runs the store, and he also plays an important role with Bert and Ernie.
The music is also really great! "True Blue Miracle" is a great song about how beautiful life can get at Christmastime. On "Keeping Christmas with You" Bob leads the kids in sign language and its about keeping that beautiful Christmas spirit with you all through the year.
It's sweet, but it is also very funny. Cookie Monster has a hard time writing a letter to Santa because he keeps eating his writing tools. And Bert has a paper clip collection.
Writing this review makes me want to watch it now!
It's a great tradition. Kids of all ages will love it!

Summary: At 23 I still list this as my favorite christmas special
Review: I am now 23 and finishing up college. I still enjoy Christmas Eve on Sesame Street. My favorite part is when Ernie, Bert, Cookie Monster, the Count, and Oscar the Grouch get together for a little crack-the-whip and they go so fast that Oscar gets thrown down the stairs. There are other parts that are good too. How does Santa Claus get down all those skinny chimneys? Cookie Monster eats his utensils while trying to reach Santa. Ernie and Bert giving up something they treasure for Christmas presents is an obvious reference to the Gift of the Magi. What's important at the end, however, is that everyone is together for the holidays. I recommend this DVD to everyone.
