Summary: Perfect for the Beginner or Amateur Home Groomer
Review: This video is exactly what I was hoping for. I had put off buying it for over two years because I had absolutely no experience grooming my dogs and I was afraid that it would not help me and that I wouldn't be able to learn to do the job myself. But, when I saw that it was also available on DVD, I finally decided to take a chance on purchasing it, and I was pleased to discover that Doggie Cuts really pays off in a big way.

The video is geared toward teaching a "beginner" how to give their dog a general, good-looking, basic grooming and styling. I learned all of the basic cuts from the video in about an hour. I was actually able to give both my yorkie and my poodle simple, yet professional-looking haircuts. It was very rewarding for me. The groomer was very friendly and he paced himself and his haircutting demonstrations for the novice grooming student. It was always very easy to see what he was doing as he described it. He even explained how to keep my dogs (and myself) relaxed at all times, which helped make the haircutting (and bathing) fun and enjoyable.

If you are inexperienced and looking to learn how to give your dog a complete haircut, or even just a trim, this is definitely the video that will help you do that. It even taught me how to trim their toenails myself (that alone costs me $20 each time at the vet's office). The haircutting techniques shown will be easy to use on any kind of dog too. If your dog needs regular haircuts and you want to learn how to do it yourself, I strongly recommend that you buy this DVD.

Summary: Doggie Cuts
Review: This video is great for people with dogs who have standard cuts especially for show dogs. It is detailed and step by step in its explanation. And it is chock full of ideas.
There are two basic assumptions that didn't work for me. One that all dogs will have their standard breed cuts - no puppy cuts for usually long haired dogs are even alluded to.
The second is that all dogs are comfortable with grooming. Very little is mentioned about readying a dog to stand for long periods of time.
Also, I tried this on our Havanese puppy before her adult hair was grown in and it was a challenge just using the clippers on this fine little fluff. When dogs can be groomed should be mentioned too.

Summary: Great At Home Pet Grooming Video
Review: This video is just what one needs to feel confident in grooming your dog at home....But again.it shows all dogs very use to and liking to be groomed.....I found it limiting only in what one does if your dog is new to grooming or does not like to be groomed...there is not showing use of a grooming table or more professional equipment like the nail dermal instead of cutting nails...But overall if you get this video, and your dog is use to being groomed youl find it just what you need in terms of good instructions in how to get the cut, how to use the clippers, and guards to get the proper length for a professional looking groom for your dog..

Summary: Great At Home Pet Grooming Video
Review: This was purchased on a lark when I wanted to groom my Maltese to save money on expensive grooming salons. The step by step instructions are easy to follow in a conversational manner which is easy to listen to and the animals are the perfect subjects. I learned the basics inside of one intensive afternoon of practice and though I'm not ready to show my pooch at Westminster, I certainly will save a small fortune in grooming fees each year thanks to this tape.

Summary: Simple and effective--this video tops them all!
Review: To be honest, I put off learning how to groom my own dogs for years because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to do it myself and that my rambunctious dogs would not sit still for it. Also, I was uncertain that any video that I might find would not apply to the breeds of dogs that I have--a cocker spaniel, a poodle, and a Lhasa Apso. But this video has taught me all the cuts necessary to groom all of of them! Thankfully, it also demonstrates the secrets of how to keep even the most uncooperative dog calm during the entire grooming session.

I manage a dog adoption center, and the Doggie Cuts video has taught me how to cut the hair on schnauzers, yorkshire terriers, poodles, malteses, cocker spaniels, shih tzus, pomeranians, shelties, bichons, scotties, most all terriers, and about a zillion mixed breeds! It demonstrates in detail all the basic cuts necessary to groom most any breed of dog. I have been recommending this video to every person that adopts any of our abused or abandoned doggie friends because, in addition to the actual haircutting, it also gives great veterinary advice and information on maintaining your dog's health, and it shows you how to brush their teeth and trim their toenails as well--essential care for any and all dogs.

When I think of all the money that I have paid groomers in the past just for my own dogs, and all the stress they experienced after I dropped them off, well, I'll just say that I and my dogs are relieved and very happy that I am now doing the grooming myself! I also plan to use my new-found grooming skills to open my own doggie salon in our adoption center to earn extra income that will be used to improve and expand our services to help even more of our homeless friends in the future.

Summary: Basic Haircutting/Grooming & Total Healthcare for any Dog!
Review: We were pleasantly surprised to find this video so useful and complete! Not only does it show you all the basic haircutting techniques that can be applied to virtually any breed of dog, it also demonstrates how to trim your dog's nails and how to brush their teeth, and more...things we knew should be done, but never saw demonstrated before! DOGGIE CUTS even alerted us to many things that we were doing wrong, including simple bathing and hair drying. And, it taught us warning signs to look for regarding skin diseases and other eye and ear problems, etc.

The dog groomer demonstrating the haircutting was so friendly and personable that we felt like we were being taught one-on-one in our own kitchen! He shared many of his "secret groomer tips" that made the whole grooming experience simple and relaxed, making learning how to cut our own dog's hair easy and fun! And, we were amazed at how calm our Yorkshire Terrier stayed while we were cutting his hair for the very first time, all because of the groomer's advice and instruction! (We know too that our dog was happier and suffered far less stress because we were doing the fussing over him instead of a stranger!) And, you can't imagine how proud we felt when the first person who saw the results of our work complimented us on how great our dog's haircut looked and asked us where we got it done!

Lastly, it was entertaining to see and listen to actor Dick Van Patten as the celebrity host for DOGGIE CUTS. He is a genuine person who we all trust, and we have read about what a great dog lover he is himself! (And, we will never forget him as dad "Tom Bradford" on Eight is Enough.) The high quality sets and attention to detail obvious throughout the entire ninety minutes far exceeds what one would expect from any instructional video. We would certainly recommend DOGGIE CUTS to every person who owns a dog, even if it's a breed that doesn't require haircutting. The health maintenance information alone is invaluable and can help you prevent "doggie illnesses" that can lead to costly vet bills. We have purchased several of these videos and given them as wonderfully unique gifts to our friends and family! Thank you, DOGGIE CUTS!
