Rating: Summary: A must watch..young and old Review: I watched this movie as a kid, over and over again. I finally wore out the first tape, then my parents bought me another. When i was younger, it would keep my occupied, the singing, the laughs, and different lifestyles of the characters in the movie. I was fascinated with the farm the little boy and girl live on. This movie didn't just last during my childhood, but i'm 17 now and i still love to watch the movie. It has meanings and morals all through the movie. And when you're older and watch the movie, you regroup with your inner child and it's is when you realize what the movie is telling you, that happiness is right in your neighborhood. I finally learned that after watching the movie for 17 years...
Rating: Summary: Absolutely timeless... Review: I'm of the opinion that if you didn't grow up watching "Sesame Street," then you grew up to be a nothing. This was a fantastic show and, though I miss some of the old school cast members, still is. If you've never seen "Follow That Bird" as a kid, then you truly missed out on a wonderful viewing experience. But screw the whole "eyes of a child" philosophy. I still adore this gem every bit as I did when I was a tot.The basic premise of the film is that Big Bird wants to move in with a family of silly Dodo birds. Upon realizing the mistake he's made by abandoning his real home and friends, he ventures on a cross-country trip which he naively believes will take him only a few days to get him home. Along the way, he meets new friends, gets into plenty of little adventures and treats us to some really catchy and terrific songs. According to a truck driver, there ain't no road too long, but Big Bird is gonna need some help finding his way back to Sesame Street, so his friends from the block sternly vow to go out and find Big Bird before he gets himself lost or in a world of trouble. This is not only a great movie for your kids, but a great one for yourself. If you grew up watching it and playing the soundtrack non-stop on your record player (like I did), then you owe it to yourself to go out and pick this DVD up. The one major complaint people have with this release is it's lack of a widescreen ratio. But, really. Who cares? It's "Sesame Street" for Pete's sake. It's viewable in any way, shape or form. P.S. - Have fun annoying your friends by singing "the Grouch Anthem." If you think they've had enough, you still can't stop. These songs are that darn catchy.
Rating: Summary: A Sesame Treat Review: I've loved this film since it first came out in 1985 and I'm so glad it's finally come to DVD. It's a heartwarming story of family and belonging that all can relate to. The Muppet humor is just as sharp as ever so adults will have no problem enjoying this fim as much as children do. Fans of the show might be as happy as I was with the inclusion of Olivia in the cast. She has such a beautiful singing voice and luckily gets to use it in this film. However, the most delightful treat for fans is to see Jim Henson once again performing Kermit and Ernie. He's such a master puppeteer and has such good chemistry with the other characters (especially Bert). Watch the subtle facial expressions he gives Kermit and the honest plafulness of Ernie. A treat in deed. We miss you Jim. As for the DVD itself, the picture is bright but somewhat soft like it's been transferred from video instead of film. Clearly no restoration work has been done on picture or audio. Also, I'm a purist and it's just not right to release a film in Pan and Scan without an OAR option as this release has done. There are several places where a widescreen transfer is obviously missing and it just bugs me to no end. The disc is bare bones with only a 'Jump to a song' option and the original trailer. As annoying as some of these oversights are though, I'm still glad I've got the film (even in it's mangled P&S form) to enjoy until such a time that a proper OAR version is available.
Rating: Summary: Sesame Street's First Movie Is Great! Review: In my book, this movie ranks right up there with "Ferris Bueller's Day Off", "E.T" and "The Breakfast Club". It is a majorly great 80s film that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. The basic plot is that Big Bird moves away from Sesame Street to live with a foster family in Oceanview, Illinois (one of the film's many jokes for the adults). He doesn't like it there, so he goes on a cross-country adventure back home, pursued by 2 evil circus owners (played by SCTV's Dave Thomas and Joe Flaherty) and a welfare agent (voiced by Sally Kellerman). There are also cameos by Chevy Chase (spoofing his role as Saturday Night Live's "Weekend Update" anchor), Sandra Bernhard (as a grouchy waitress), Waylon Jennings (playing a singing trucker), and the late John Candy as a cop. The songs are great, and there are many pop-culture references, including references to "North By Northwest", Donny & Marie, and Michael Jackson. Sesame Street fans and parents, if you don't have this movie, then get it! I'm 16 years old, and I still enjoy this movie! It's great fun!

Rating: Summary: Almost matches one of the quotes from the Carmen cartoon. Review: In the three parts (the song "One Little Star," the lady named Maria, and Big Bird with blue dye), you'd almost think of the blue moon with patches that Galileo called "Maria." In Follow that Bird, there was no letter that said I"LL BE TAKIN' A TRIP AND I'LL Be BLUE love Maria. In Carmen Sandiego, Carmen gave Ivy and Zack an orange to wipe the blue structure on the letter to turn the background red and keep the words blue. I do not like the graphics of this movie. They are poor as if they were thrown within 10 seconds. I'd prefer to talk about Maria the moon.
