Summary: Not a bad video
Review: I was at my local Target the other day, and on the TV screens, they were showing some of the stories from the new video. Obiously, they got rid of Alec Baldwin, but the new storyteller isn't that bad. Overall, I think this is a good video. Can't wait until March 16!

Summary: Not a bad DVD
Review: I would just like to say that those of you who are berating the 'new' narrator, Micheal Angelis, that you should think again. This is the first (and probably last) opportunity that American viewers will get to see the original and uncut dialogue of 'Thomas & Friends' that you were MEANT to see. The 're-dub' ruined the romance of the original and the reason why Thomas was ever re-dubbed for American audiences is still a mystery to me. Why re-dub a show that already uses the English language? Besides, being a British show, it sounds awfully wrong to hear Thomas and his friends speaking American accents.

Therefore, I think that it is selfish of you to complain when you are being presented with what you SHOULD have seen in the first place.

Summary: Thomas PLC
Review: I'm a bit torn on this one. The narrator does a very good job with the accents (remember, Sodor was supposed to be between the Isle of Man and NW England); much better than Baldwin. And the new engines look good (Spencer is an A4, and would be a younger cousin of Gordon's; Murdoch is a fine-looking Class 9F, like "Evening Star," the last steam engine built by BR). But the stories just aren't as good as the original Awdry ones. There are plenty of stories left from the originals that have never been produced (see "Thomas the Tank Engine: The Complete Collection) -- HIT Entertainment should drink from the well, not the puddle.

The games are also mediocre, and the voices that accompany the games are just dreadful.

Summary: Is it QED? Is it Lasgo?
Review: In Series 7, they have Children's Songs. In the albums they have Techno Music. Lasgo or QED? I think it's QED-Love Bites.
I think it's Lasgo-Alone.

Summary: Most of the characters weren't needed but I liked it anyway
Review: Let me start off with saying how much I hated Alec Bladwin's narrations. He thought Stepney and Iron Arry and Iron Bert needed Austrailian accents in order to sound good but he did away with the Donald and Douglas accents George Carlin did so well. Michael Angelis sounds old but he narrates better than Alce Baldwin. I've also said that they don't ever use the characters they have so why bring new ones. The answer is so that they can sell the wooden trains and Take-Along Thomas. I think that they should either create a new series with Jack and Alfie and their crew or they should do away with them all together the series should still be focused on trains.

Ok now for the review part I liked the 4 new trains introduced but they rushed in introducing them becuase none of them were in another episode. Harvey and Salty had yet another minor role they haven't had another major role since their debut tape Salty's Secret. The new trains are Spencer a fast engine who belongs to the Duke and Duchess, Emily the first girl train to become part of the Sodor railway not counting Lady who was only in the movie, Arthur a tank engine who follows the rules and he behaves himself, and Murdouch a ten wheeled engine who enjoys peace and quiet. There are also 7 new trucks, cranes, and bulldozers named Jack, Alfie, Max, Isabella, Oiliver, Byron, and Kelly. Jack is the new truck who helps out Thomas when a bridge collapses and he is eager to help out. The episodes are prety good but they needed to introduce all of these characters in two tapes because they introduced too many. It is still a good tape and I would buy it if I were you.

Summary: I would give it 2 stars, myself: BUT...
Review: My 4 year old Thomas addict LOVES this video and begs to watch it over and over: so, it DOESN'T MATTER that I (the adult) find it derivative of Bob the Builder, and dislike the "new" narrator (he doesn't even TRY and distinguish between the character's voices!). Sure, "Ms. Jenny" is a doppelganger for Bob's "Wendy": but at least she's a woman in charge - not a demanding shrew (Lady Hatt), a screaming shrew (Alicia Batti), or a damsel in distress (the ever-rescued Mrs. Kindly). I have spent the last 3 years watching the same 20 or so tapes over and over and over again, til I've started dreaming about trains... so ANY new Thomas videos are welcome, in my house.

Review: New friends for Thomas is an alright Thomas tape. I did not care for the new narrator, Michael Angelis, very much because he's not very creative on the voices(Alec Baldwin sure was)and some times you cant even understand what he's saying at all. The stories are okay but not as good as the other ones since they aren't the ones written by Revrend D. Awdry himself.
Stories are:

Gordon and Spencer 4/5:
Gordon meets Spencer, the Duke and Dutchess' private engine. He thinks that he's the fastest engine in the world and refuses to take Gordon's advice about taking on plenty of water. Soon enough, Spencer ends up breaking down on Gordon's hill and Gordon must come and help him.

Emily's New Coaches 4.5/5:
Emily is the newest engine on the Island of Sodor. One day Sir Topham Hatt tells Emily to learn her new route and take some coaches around the island. The only coaches she can find are Annie & Clarabel, but she doesn't know this yet. As she is touring the island, Emily whistles to all the passing engines but no one whistles back. Emily just can't seem to understand why everybody on the Island of Sodor is so unfriendly.

The Spotless Record 5/5:
Meet Arthur, a tank engine with a spotless record, meaning he has never been naughty or gotten into an accident before. While working with Thomas and Percy, he refuses to join in on bumped the silly freight cars. Thomas soon comes up with a trick that will ruin Arthur's spotless record for good.

Peace and Quiet 5/5:
Meet Murdoch, a big strong engine who has come to the Island of Sodor to help pull the big and heavy freight trains. Murdoch soon finds out that everyone on the island enjoys talking to each other, but Murdoch would much rather prefer some peace and quiet. The next day, Murdoch gets to travel through the peaceful countryside, at last he has his peace and quiet, but not for long.

Jack Jumps In 4.5/5:
Meet Jack, the cheerful tractor who has come to work with a construction crew called The Pack and see how his first day goes. First he can't find anybody to work with, then he encounters a big bulldozer named Max, and then he jumps in to help to soon and ends up in a sticky situation.

A Friend In Need 4.5/5:
After weathering his first day with The Pack, Jack is given a second chance to behave. But when the chance comes for help again, will Jack jump in where he doesn't belong again or will he have learned from his mistake?

5 New Engine In The Shed(Music Video) 4/5:
A music video that talks about all the new engines in the shed.

I also think there were to many uneeded characters in this one(Think "The Pack" which includes Alphie, Max, Byron, Oliver, Ned, Kelly, Izabella, and the newest member, Jack) I doubt if they will ever show half these characters again. In fact, the only character they do show now is Emily. Overall, this is a fairly decent Thomas video, 7 out of 10.

Summary: My 3 yr. old Thomas fan loved it!!!
Review: Ok, we got this dvd as a gift, and my son was so excited he couldn't wait to watch it. Michael Angelis(narrator) does a fine job narrating, reminds me a little of Ringo. To me the stories sound better with a british accent. The true test of how good the dvd is for me is does my son want to watch it over and over. He truly loves these stories. They entertain him. We have the big book of classic stories, and those are our favorites, but these will do just fine.

Story Stops: Gordon And Spencer, Emily's New Coaches, The Spotless Record, Peace And Quiet, Jack Jumps In, A Friend In Need and Five New Engines In The Shed Music video. I made the review: a video in ever saw.

Summary: Thomas Jumps The Shark
Review: This is awful. It will take years for the all the new "characters" introduced here to reach your local toy store. Fearing audience loss, the creators have brought us a construction site overseen by Jenny, our British "Bob The Builder," and it's here that you'll lose it after the blizzard of new vehicles. It's ridiculous. The Thomas world has gotten so big that I doubt I'll ever see Peter Sam or even Edward again. So, as the accompany sing-along says, "There Are Five New Engines In The Shed" (how can any of them fit?) and Jack the tractor. The coolest new addition is Spencer. Okay, I hate all this marketing, but Spencer is a righteous, gray bullet-type train. It kills me to say that, but it's true. The rest are pretty dull and uniformly large engines (I assume large engines sell better). The stories themselves are fairly lifeless. Now for the REALLY BAD news. This is my third or fourth Thomas DVD review, and I have ripped Alec Baldwin in the past, but heaven knows I miss him now. They've gone back to a British voice. The new narrator does give everyone a distinct voice and is obviously a professional, BUT I just don't like his voice. It's naturally very low and some of his "choices" for the characters are unfortunate. His Sir Topham Hatt is a mumbling, slurring drone, and overall the narrator's pitch is so all-over-the-place that I feel a headache coming on.I know these videos are for kids, but there's only so much bad background noise an adult can withstand. If it weren't for Spencer, I wouldn't even have given this release two stars.
