Rating: Summary: Great Review: The Wiggles are huge in their native Australia and I can see why. The tunes are catchy and the dancing enthusiastic but not complicated so children can follow along with ease. The Yummy Yummy video is popular in our home although not as good as "Wiggle Time" it has the same pacing and characters. It is worth it as a sequel. I was first introduced to the Wiggles by my Australian husband. The Wiggles consist of the all male line up of Anthony Field,Murray Cook and Greg Page who met while studying Early Childhood Education at Sydney's Macquarie University. The three began writing children's songs as one of their music projects. They enlisted the assistance of Jeff Fatt, who played with Anthony in the popular 1980's band The Cockroaches, and The Wiggles were born. The emphasis is on dancing and singing and so is unlike other overproduced, heavily animated childrens videos. The Wiggles are not faddish and the songs though basic do not become dull after repeated hearing. This is essential for adults to know who will be listening as well. The majority of children enjoy seeing adults do entertaining things and this is why the Wiggles are winners. The only downside is that the children on the show are not multicultural.
Rating: Summary: My 17 month old is captivated by Wiggles! Review: My 17 month old, who doesn't normally pay much attention to the television, is captivated by Wiggles! He would never sit through Barney or other shows but does not move a muscle when I pop in a Wiggles tape. The first thing he does each morning is grabs his Wiggles tape and wants me to put it in the VCR. He has even started to do some of the hand movements to some of the songs! It is incredible! We have 2 of their 3 tapes and he watches them daily--and I find myself singing the songs at work! I hope that they put out more tapes--I'll buy every one!
Rating: Summary: MORE WIGGLES PLEASE! WE LOVE THEM! Review: MY 4 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER LOVES THE WIGGLES! YUMMY YUMMY IS ANOTHER GREAT TAPE FROM THE WIGGLES! MY BOYFRIEND IS FROM AUSTRALIA AND THERE ARE ALOT OF OTHER WIGGLES VIDEOS THAT WE DON'T GET IN THE US. THEY EVEN HAVE THEIR OWN MOVIE THAT WAS RELEASED THERE. AFTER WATCHING BARNEY AND THE OTHERS, THIS TAPE WILL DEFINITELY BE AT THE TOP OF YOUR CHILD'S LIST! HER FAVOURITE SONGS ON THIS TAPE ARE "THE MONKEY DANCE" AND D.O.R.O.T.H.Y(MY FAVOURITE DINOSAUR)! AND PARENTS, YOU'LL LOVE IT TOO!
Rating: Summary: Wiggles Time Review: I am a mother of 3 children and Barney and Blue's Clues were getting alittle old when we discovered Wiggles it was the best thing in the world instead of sitting and watching they are up dancing and singing- Thank you so much the little time that they are allowed to watch movies it is nice knowing that they are enjoying the show.
Rating: Summary: EXCELENT VIDEO - except for puppets Review: After seeing the previews on Barney Videos we bought the video tapes. We've had Yummy Yummy for about 2 weeks now and my son absolutely loves them. However there are a couple of scenes that frighten him. there are Puppets who are suppose to look like the characters on this show performing a song. They are a frightening portrayal of the 4 characters. When their scene come up, my 2 year old says "Scary.." and covers his eyes while I fast forward the scene . It gets scarier as you watch it in fast-forward. Other than that my son is enthralled with the Wiggles & always asks to watch it before & after day care. It is a video with lots of physical participation. My husband & I end up joining our son with all the dance moves. It is so great seeing our son's face light up when we put on their ( the WIggles ) video tape. We also purcahsed Wiggle Time. Our son loves that video and we have just currently ordered Wake Up Jeff. We can't wait.
Rating: Summary: I bought this for my 1 1/2 yr. old daughter and my daycare Review: I recommed this video. Although not as good as Wiggle Time. This video still captivates the attention of the children, and the children had no complaints. After all thats why I bought it.
Rating: Summary: I bought this for my 2-year old. Review: She immediately loved the dancing and tried to imitate the movements. The dances promote good coordination practice which is why I bought this tape. The dance segments are short, which is fine, but in between are non-dance skits during which she quickly lost interest in this video. Perhaps an older child would appreciate these parts (the recommended age group is 1-8). The longest segments involve puppets that look like the actors. The puppets appear to be well made but show absolutely nothing related to bodily movement--that is, nothing that could be imitated. These segments disappointed us both.
Rating: Summary: great for toddlers! Review: my 18 month old never walked away from this one. I agree it is not as good as Wiggle Time, but nonetheless, it worked wonders. The dance, the colors, the music, the animals all captivated my sons' attention.
Rating: Summary: the wiggles finally makes it to north america Review: we brought our 2 kids (age 2 and 4) to Australia and they caught it -- wiggles mania that is. when we returned we found we couldn't get them anywhere and our children were CONSTANTLY asking to see the wiggles -- they especially love THE BIG RED CAR and WAKE UP JEFF (so amazon.com should really get those ones too)--they love them, to dance, sing, and interact with -- and they ask to watch them over and over and over. We have made a conscious effort to cut off our cable and watch only videos at home and with THE WIGGLES we know our kids are getting great quality.
Rating: Summary: Not as good as "Wiggle Time" but . . . Review: "Santa" brought the Wiggles "Wiggle Time" video to our house and my two daughters (ages 2 1/2 and 5 years of age) LOVED it, as did all of their friends. I particularly liked that the girls were up dancing and actually getting some exercise during the entire video, unlike most videos where kids are inclined to just sit and watch. For that reason I immediately ordered the "Yummmy Yummy" video. The girls do love this one but my primary reason for ordering it . . . the "stand-up, dance and move" rather than "sit and stare" factor . . . isn't nearly as good in this one. There is much more down-time (as in 'sit down') on this one. Still, THEY do enjoy it. If I were choosing between this or Wiggle Time as a parent, I'd recommend that you choose "Wiggle Time" in a heart beat for your kids, for gifts, etc. Also, I do agree that the puppets are kind of creepy and, while they don't bother my children, they don't really keep their attention either. They definitely love the upbeat tunes contained on this video though, every one of them.
