Rating: Summary: Interesting after children learn the signs Review: Each of the videos is better than the last. I was lucky to have bought all three at the same time (or I may not have invested in the other two). While some signing videos are boring to kids *after they learn the signs*, thanks to the cute songs, these three are set up in such a way kids will continue to be interested long after the other videos turn into library donations. Whether you are trying to teach your baby that words mean things or just getting something entertaining for your four year old, this is a great set of videos. It also has CC.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Review: I bought this as a last minute Christmas gift for my sons (4 and 18 months). I had been trying to teach them a few signs, but my 4 year old never used them and my 18 month old didn't understand them. Now they both are using the signs they have learned and are picking up more signs. My 18 month old can tell me he wants to eat or wants some milk and it is wonderful! I can understand him! I highly recommend this DVD. I can't wait to get #2 & 3.
Rating: Summary: 18 signs for $$ Review: For that price I would have expected more signs. The woman who explains the sign first does not appear to be comfortable in front of the camera and I also felt that each sign got too much time (i.e. it's the kids going over and over it again). I would have preferred more signs related to ones introduced. For instance: "eat" should be accompanied by the signs for banana, apple, orange etc. While it's cute to begin teaching your baby the signs for dog, cat and bird, I would have rather liked to learn signs that are related to everyday stuff: foods, sleep, play etc.
Rating: Summary: best video to learn signing with your kids Review: The Signing Time series is wonderful because it's fun and full of smiles and facial gestures that are totally lacking in other videos. Anyone who has seen sign in action knows that sign language has lots of facial gestures to help communicate what is being signed. This series not only has cute animation but the two children are delightful and so happy. The mother who signs is wonderful to watch and hear. The kids in our playgroup (we all have hearing children) really enjoy watching the videos and learn SO QUICKLY (especially if they are over 12 mos. old). I would and DO recommend this as your first video to learn sign language, children OR adults. The only criticism I have with the video (and others) is why do they have to teach the sign for "cookie" to children!?! I can't tell you how quickly my son picked THAT one up, much to my chagrin. ;)
Rating: Summary: signing time: An American Sign Language CD for Children Review: This is a wonderful God's sent CD. I bought this video/cd for Christmas 2002 and my family still can't get enough of it. We love it. Thanks. I bought all the additions. Please make more.
Rating: Summary: Best Kids Video! Review: Signing Time has been my toddler's favorite video for the past year & a half (she's 2-1/2 now)... we have all three of the original series and are expectantly awaiting the new releases! It's amazing to see your little one, who's verbal abilities have yet to be formed, but with their hands, they are able to communicate with you! The music in these videos is outstanding, the use of children speaking the words AND signing the words, interspersed with animation, and the serene mommy, Rachel, introducing each sign, make for delightful viewing that parents, toddlers AND older kids will thoroughly enjoy over and over and over again! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
Rating: Summary: Very Helpful Review: Me and my family love this video! My kids love to sign along with the other young kids in the videos. The songs (also on the CD) are catchy and are fun to listen to in the car. My son is unable to speak and he learned several signs after just a few viewings! My speaking child learned also. If it was possible, on a scale of 1 to 5 it would rate a 6!
Rating: Summary: best video for babies Review: I started showing my baby this video at 6 months, it is still his favorite! He's now 12 months and recognizes about 6-10 signs. He doesn't seem to have the dexterity to do the signs yet, but he clearly understands the most important ones so far like eat, more, milk (nursing), water, dog, cat, banana. My husband and I now use the simple signs if we're out in a loud place and can't hear each other. Furthermore, I am a pediatrician and show the 3 volumes of signing time in my office. I encourage everyone to learn the basic signs and especially all children with hearing or learning disabilities.
Rating: Summary: Easy, fun, entertaining ~ You'll love it Review: If you are interested in using sign language with your children you will love Signing Time. I first just ordered "My First Signs" and after watching it once I immediately ordered the 3 pack. This is such a fun video. Your kids will want to watch it over and over and it won't drive you nuts. The songs are cute. If you buy the CD the kids will sign along with the songs.
Rating: Summary: FANTASTIC signing video for little kids!!!! Review: This DVD is entertaining and educational. My 3 1/2 yr old sits and watches this video over and over again. The presentation is informative and captivating.....the DVD is over before you know it and retention of the information is quick and easy for the littlies. I have had other videos which were either dry or silly in their style of presentation....my kids soon swap the cassette to something more interesting. This DVD keeps them tuned in!! If you are looking for a simple, beginners video so your kids can simply have fun exploring the world of sign language and be able to walk away with a small vocabulary after just one viewing....this is it. I highly recommend this DVD.
