Review: I will own this film! The movie was a very realistic dipiction of a coal mining family living and thriving in "Coal Country". The movie was well written, well acted and above all reminded me of my growing up years. It is an inspiration to my daughter in the sense that we can do what we want in life if we persevere. Made me laugh and cry. I loved it. I highly recommend this film to all.

Review: I grew up only 6 houses from Homer(Sonny)Hickam and I must say he depicted Coalwood as it was in our day. I wouldn't trade our teenage years at Big Creek High School with anyone. I loved the video and have told all my friends that it is a must see. I would rate it as the best movie of the year.The music brought back many good memories.

Review: I had read the book and loved it! This morning I watched it on DVD with my kids. The movie is every bit as outstanding as the book. It inspired my children. They were enthralled that a boy with so many obstacles in his way could acheive his goals.

Summary: Nice, but...
Review: This is a nice little movie with a good story, excellent acting, and a fine script. Sure it wallows in sentimentality, but the characters grow on you and you can't help but getting caught up in the drama. However, one half-star off for director Joe Johnston's annoying penchant for excessive closeups and darth of establishing shots. Another half-star off for the stereotypical "feel good" movie music.

Review: October Sky will get you from the very beginning and keep you hooked until the very end. It is an oscar caliber movie. next to an ideal husband it is the best movie of the year. It had it all acting, wonderful story, directing, and the score was great, too. THis movie is the type you never forget and will always charise. It goes right for you innerself and keeps going. It is the type of story that will be told again and again. A movie one can see many times and it will still affect in indescribale ways every time you see it.

Review: A great movie showing that kids can achieve their goals. This movie shows the life of a young coalminer boy who didn't want to be stuck in his fathers footsteps and believed that he really could control his future. A great movie for success development. This boy uses a model rocket hobby to launch himself into the future of being a NASA engineer, even though everyone told him he was a fool, a trouble maker and a dreamer. Review: This is a clean, exciting, uplifting true story about real heroes who set a goal and achieve it. If all teen movies were this positive and inspiring, our country would be in good shape. Impressive performances, great musical score and cinematography....deserves to be nominated for Best Picture of the Year!!!
