Review: This, I think, has to be the most powerful movie ever created, at least to anyone who has a goal in life. It's not just a pay-watch-leave kind of movie. This story could change your attitude toward life. What makes it even more inspiring, is that it's based on real people, and real success. Every human being on the face of this planet should see it, especially those who need encouragement or inspiration. Words can't really describe it.

Summary: Great for youth
Review: My three year old grandson calls this the "Rocket Movie" and asks to watch it over and over. I am amazed at his ability to follow it, and he knows all the names, like Homer's dad's name is John. I see nothing objectionable for him to see. This is one of very few movies that I, myself, can stand repeat watching.

Review: I read the book before watching the movie and I enjoyed both. Does not rely on special effects but great acting from the cast and intelligently written script. Reminds us what is possible when we set out to reach for our dreams. Good to see that some Hollywood studios have not forgotten how to make a great film. Worth the price of the ticket and a purchase of the DVD.

Summary: My favorite movie ever!
Review: October Sky was an exellent movie. It's about a boy, and his friends, who are determined to build a rocket. They must have made 50 rockets that were all failures, but they stuck to it, studied it, and finally, achieved their goal. This movie is an example of determination,hope,faith,and the will to do the job right. I HIGHLY,HIGHLY recommend this movie to others.

Summary: Low-key, well-made film a must-see
Review: I think I loved just about everything about this film. There was not a bad performance in it, but especially noteworthy was Jake Gyllenhaal, whose portrayal of Homer Hickam was very believable and at times, heartbreaking. The story of how one follows his dreams despite seemingly overwhelming odds is well-told and not without sly touches of humor. The cinematography and costume design are outstanding as well. I too do not get emotional at movies, and I was surprised at how deeply the story moved me. Overall, a truly excellent film.

Summary: IT'S WORTH IT'S PRICE!!
Review: This is my absolute favorite movie of all time. I had to go see it for my birthday because it was the only one we could make. I was really disapointed that we didn't get to see "My Favorite Martian" but once the movie started I thought it was real cool. I didn't wat to leave the theater. It is worth it's price in gold. Best Movie of all time!

Summary: A Superior Blastoff
Review: This movie is excellent. I saw it in the theatre and was amazed at how well it held my attention. Homer Hickman is a small town hero who illustrates to youths everywhere that when you follow your dreams you become a success. Laura Dern does a wonderful job as the science teacher who motivates Hickman and his friends to study rockets. It's far time that a woman teacher is credited for being an influence to young people on the big screen. So many "teacher movies" are mostly about men educators and their influences. This movie has small town appeal, but is not hoky or limited. The lack of foul language, sex and violence make it an appropriate choice for all ages over 10.

Summary: This movie far surpassed others
Review: Wow. What to say?? October Sky was one of (if not THE) best movies I have ever seen. At first I was like "Okay, it's about a hick named Homer....how good can it be?" but I was WRONG! It's was AWESOME! October Sky was truly inspirational (even more so because it's based on a true story), and I was crying by the end of it. It really let you feel what it was like for Homer and his friends. It was AWESOME!!!! I had heard it was good, but nothing I heard did it justice. It was better than good.
