Rating: Summary: Half and Half. Review: This collection of DVDs comes in a 4-pack set. Well, half of the DVDs are worth watching and the other half aren't and should just be viewed as extras. The discs in this collection are: GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS! This is one of the discs that makes the collection worth owning. This movie was the first Godzilla picture and stars Raymond Burr, whose footage was filmed specifically for the American release of the movie. This is the only Godzilla picture where Godzilla doesn't look like a man in a rubber suit and where the special effects are rather impressive (for the early 1950s). PLANET OF THE DINOSAURS This forgettable movie is about a group of astronauts who crash land on a Earth-like world only to find it's inhabited by deadly dinosaurs and other prehistoric monsters. Bad acting, bad dialogue, bad special effects, bad music, bad lighting; just a bad movie all around. However, it makes a great MYSTERY SCIENCE 3000 film. THE LOST WORLD This is the original silent classic whose special effects were created by the man (Willis O'Brien) who later brought King Kong to life. Scenes from this film still inspire filmmakers today (Spielberg's THE LOST WORLD, e.g) and many remakes have been attempted. Silent movies can be fun and enjoyable to watch, especially when they are made so well. FANTASTIC DINOSAURS OF THE MOVIES Basically, nothing more than a collection of "big" monster movie trailers. In other words, something only the biggest movie fan will enjoy. Overall, this collection of DVDs is worth purchasing for GODZILLA and THE LOST WORLD. Add the other "extra" DVDs and the extremely low price and this collection is a steal.
Rating: Summary: Dinosaur Fever Review: When I found out about this DVD pack I knew I had to get it! The first Godzilla film is awesome and way better than the other vs films. The Lost World was the first dinosaur film released, and Steven Spielberg made an homage to it in 1997 with his blockbuster hit The Lost World : Jurassic Park. Planet of the Dinosaurs (Planet of Dinosaurs)is kind of cheesy, but fun. A nice set of past dino flicks. Overall a great pack and I recommend the Jurassic Park Trilogy DVD box set to go with this box set.
