Rating: Summary: Where oh where has my Underdog gone where oh where can he be Review: Underdog is here in these digitally remastered episodes (the best these episodes have EVER looked) available for the first time on DVD. Tons of features from a theme song sing a long to long lost opening credits,an ad for Underdog on Thanksgiving,a trivia quiz, easy chapter access, three complete Underdog adventures, four bonus shorts,an interview with the courageous canines creator Joe Harris, and more all packaged together for the definitive collectors addition of this classic cartoon with artwork from Mr Harris. This DVD includes a CD Rom with screen savers and sound bites for use on PC's. More than worth the money.
Rating: Summary: socially questionable Review: Underdog ought to go the way of Little Black Sambo in our culture's story archives. My mother is Jewish, so Sweet Polly Purebred and Simon Barsinister strike me as anti-Semitic and/or racist names. If you went through life feeling people want to kill you because of your ancestry, you might not view my criticism as petty. This stuff was created at least as far back as the 1960s, and reflects a social atmosphere that was not exactly enlightened by today's standards. Die-hard fans may not care, but I wouldn't let my children watch it. My goal here is to warn newcomers of the character of Underdog content, so they can make an informed decision before exposing their kids to it.
Rating: Summary: There's No Need To Fear... Review: When I was a kid some 25 years ago, Underdog was my favorite cartoon. It's great to see these episodes again. The DVD presentation is fine; in fact, I'd rate it 5 stars if they had preserved the episodes in their original format--you know, with short scenes interspersed with other cartoons like Klondike Cat and Go Go Gophers. As it is, though, I'd still recommend this DVD for any Underdog fan as well as any fan of classic cartoons.
