Rating: Summary: Plain and Simple Review: No, this is not the cherished "holiday" classic that other reviewers had expected. However after looking at the cover you can naturally see "Dr. Seuss'" original illustration for "The Grinch" and it clearly says narrated by Walter Matthau. Now everyone pretty much knows that Boris Karloff narrated the television version with animation by the great Chuck Jones. There are several other Dr. Seuss classic children's book videos in this format. The camera pans the orignal book illustrations while a narrator reads it's original text. I do not believe that the video cover is misleading at all.........plain and simple. It is still an enjoyable for children and a variation of the "holiday classic".
Rating: Summary: !!!!!!!DON`T BUY THIS VIDEO!!!!!!!! Review: ***THIS IS NOT THE GRINCH WE HAVE ALL SEEN ON TV AND PROBABLY ACTUALLY THOUGHT WE WERE ORDERING. READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE YOU BUY.***
Rating: Summary: Don't waste your money!! Review: As the other reviews have stated, this is not the version you want. It is photographs of the storybook, not the animated characters you remember. There is no way to tell until you open it and watch it. It is terrible.
Rating: Summary: ...Review of "The Grinch" Review: HA HA!!! I LAUGHED when I read what people had to say about this animated classic. "The new one is better." said one. "..boring." said another. Well, I hope all you people that said that realize that the old animated cartoon is great!! The new movie is OK, but the old cartoon is a CLASSIC! It's wonderful. I don't know why people think the new one is better. Maybe it's because the new one had violence in it that the old one didn't have. I enjoyed the ACTION and VIOLENCE in the new one. But, just because the old one didn't have it, doesn't mean it's bad. I hope you all read this review, because I want you to understand that the old one is a MASTERPIECE, and no matter what anyone says, it will always remain that way.ALSO STARRING BORIS KARLOFF The Mummy (1930's version) Frankenstien (1930's version)
Rating: Summary: A Great little video for the Kids and Family....!!! Review: I bought this video at a store (...). Good price and a good little value (...). If YOU seen the the Warner Bros Cartton the Grinch and the NEW Grinch movie then U need all 3 of theres tapes or Dvd's!!!
Rating: Summary: The real story book, not the animated movie, but endearing Review: I did purchace this as a mistake thinking I had the 1966 version by Warner Brothers. However, I found this very endearing. It is the entire book with original illustrations as Walter Matthau brings the story to life. ("Reading Rainbow" style narration.) I have enjoyed having THE REAL story via this video and the animated version as a compliment to it. Please realize this was done in 1957 so the sound and video quality are not high. But do expect the spirit of Dr Seuss to shine through.
Rating: Summary: Makes you feel like a kid again Review: I liked this movie because the script was well set up and it was very entertaining. It has a very well thought out theme. It is a movie for the whole family.
Rating: Summary: It's just not the same! Review: I made the same mistake. I thought this was the one I always saw on TV every year when I was a kid. It's definitely not! Just pictures with narration. Look closely before you buy!!!!
Rating: Summary: THIS IS NOT THE FULL MOVIE! Review: I ordered this and was very dissapointed to find I had ordered the wrong one. This is a reading of the book by Walter Matthau. This would be a good selection for younger children due to the easy to follow reading and not too complex images. My son was very entertained, but my wife and I got a headache... Merry Christmas.
Rating: Summary: I also was fooled Review: I think it's very sneaky that they make people think this is the Grinch that we see on tv every year. I also made the same mistake and was very unhappy when I put the tape in.
