Rating: Summary: a little fuzzy on the witch history... Review: This movie shows a positive veiw of wiccans, a spiritual movement also know as witchcraft to the public. Unfortunetly the information given is slighty, well, wrong. it said that wiccans came before witches, and that all witches are evil, but wiccans are good. The problem with this is that a lot of wiccans call themselves witches, hence it may confuse young ones if they ever meet a wiccan witch. As for scooby doo, it's my favoritem, with a cool plot and a real witch, not jsut a mask or a bed sheet!
Rating: Summary: Who's next for Daphne? Review: With Mary Kay berman's death last year which I not sure of the cause of death, who's next to play Daphne if another film is made with Scooby, Shaggy, Daphne, Velma and Fred? Or will Scrappy Doo make a comeback. Here's another with Scooby Doo Where are you?. Which is sung by Billy Ray Cyrus. And a film that is about 70 minutes long. The first 3 ran 90-99 minutes long. But now it has been knocked down short. Scooby Doo and Shaggy (Scott Innes) is back. And this time they meet Ben Ravencroft (Tim Curry) and Velma is a big fan of Ben Ravencroft. As the movie opens Velma (B.J Ward) meets Ben Ravencroft in a museum during a case before the persons behind two people are behind a case is reveled. Ben invites them to Oakheaven his hometown which he comes back once a year. But Ben doesn't know there is an Autumn Harvest Festival going on in his hometown. Daphne (Mary Kay Bergman) and Fred (Frank Welker) along with Scooby Doo and Shaggy aslo heads down to Oakheaven. And a concert is going to be in the same town featuring the Hex Girls. (Jennifer Hale, Kimbrely Brooks, and Jane Wiedlin). A local band. Ben learns from the town's mayor (Neil Ross) that Ben's ancestor Sara Ravencroft is hauting the town. When its really a tea short man (Peter Renaday) is behind the mask. Kiki's Delivery Serivce's Tress Macneille is the voice of Sara Ravencroft.
Rating: Summary: the best scooby Review: this is an awesome scooby, especially if you are from salem, ma "the witch city" you know that it is about salem. its totally cool and my little girl loves the "hex girls" she is always singing the song!
Rating: Summary: Can give nightmares.... Review: My four year old loves Scooby and has a vast collection of his cartoons, but this one scares her so bad that she is afraid of the dark because of the 'witches ghost' will get her. In the movie, the witch is not a silly character with a mask- it is a truly drawn scary witch. The rock band (and to give credit to the movie) has my daughter singing their song even when the movie isn't on. All in all, it might give little kids nightmares because of the 'realness' of the bad people in the movie.
Rating: Summary: SPINE-TINGLING SUSPENCE!!!!!! Review: When the Mystery Gang meets horror writer Ben Ravencroft,he invites them to his New England home for the town's Autumn Harvest Feast and for a little peace and quiet. But when the gang finds out that people of the town have been seeing a ghost, the gang fires up to hunt for clues while Shaggy and Scooby head for the local diner for dinner! The gang also finds out that this ghost is Ben's ancestor Sarah Ravencroft.Dancing to the rocking band"THE HEX GIRLS"who play at the harvest, they too get caught up in the mystery.Freddy,Thelma,Daphine,Shaggy, and Scooby-Doo are about to be swept up into the"witching"hour! Better than Zombie Island(#1),and Alien Invaders(#3).This movie will knock your socks off!SCOOBY-DOO AT IT'S BEST!
Rating: Summary: Good movie, a bit scary for little ones Review: I don't have a problem with this movie. True it is not like the classic Scooby-Doo cartoons but it does include all the characters unlike the Boo Brothers. The only thing that I really did not like about this movie and Zombie Island is that is is kind of scary for very young children. My three year-old son is a big fan of Scooby-Doo and when he sees this movie and Zombie Island he keeps repeating the phrase "monsters aren't real they're just pretend". So it is a little bit scary but like all the others they have good endings and are lots of fun.
Rating: Summary: Wicca, so what? Review: Most of the negative reviews on this DVD seem to focus on the Wiccan aspect of the video. Let me assure you if this bothers you it is minimal and your children aren't going to run off and become Witches. That certainly isn't how Wicca is presented here. They might become Hex girls because the music (featuring Go Go Jane Wiedlin) is very kid friendly and dad likes it too! The movie is a fun update of the Scooby gang and if you are worried about the new Mystery Inc, don't fret over it. The voices and characterizations are great especially our old pals Shaggy and Scoob. I'm glad 30+ years later Scooby is still on the prowl.
Rating: Summary: Excellent mix of laughs and thrills!!!! Review: The gang is back, and this time investigating a new spook, as the ghost of Sarah Ravencroft is haunting the town! Not only do we get the unmasking of the fakers who scared us, we also get a REAL ghost, and lots of thrills as they try to solve the case! Laughs, scares, lots of Scooby, not enough Daphne, and a pretty good story and music all make this a good one! I don't care WHAT some people are saying about this one, there are no Satanic influences...! Lighten up, and have some fun revisiting out favorite sleuths!
Rating: Summary: Spooky, OPEN-MINDED fun Review: OK.....let me start by saying the movie was good......not great, but good...As an old-school Scooby fan, I do miss the '70's feel, and I'm not crazy about the new style of animation. But, my 7- and 3-year old daughters love it (they'd watch it over and over again all day if I'd let them). So, looking at it objectively, your unbiased typical kid will enjoy it. The plot is OK. ...
Rating: Summary: Not the same Scooby Doo... Review: The original or "Classic' Scooby Doo cartoons had the familiar storyline where someone (such as a town Mayor) *fakes* a longtime legend (i.e., a ghost, mummy, or something) in order to scare people off and 'get the gold'. These are the cartoons that I grew up on. In contrast, "Scooby-Doo and the Witch's Ghost" is a *newly produced* cartoon and *not* one of the classics. The thing that disturbs me is that the witch is real and only a descendent of a Wiccan is "pure enough" to conduct the actual witchcraft which stops the real witch's ghost from destroying the world. I do not want to teach my children that only Wiccans are "pure" and that the rest of us are lacking. In my opinion, this video is Wiccan propaganda and should be recognized as such. The publishers got my money on this one (and we threw it out), so now I always look for the Scooby Doo "Classic" videos. By looking for the word "Classic", you will find the same Scooby Doo cartoons that we all watched in the '70's and '80's.
