Rating: Summary: Truly Awful! Review: A newspaper reporter (Kathy Najimy) is trying to put together background information for a tribute to Dr. Seuss (in real life, Ted Geisel). She ends up being taken on a musical tour of Dr. Seuss's life by his greatest creation, The Cat in the Hat (Matt Frewer). There is actually a lot of solid biographical material provided along with the music in this 90-minute film. We also get to see animated clips from pretty much all of Dr. Seuss's stories that had been adapted up to 1995, but the highlights are the skits acted out by celebrities: Robin Williams is the Father, Billy Crystal is the Voice of America Christopher Lloyd is Mr. Hunch, David Paymer is the Ad Man, Patrick Stewart is Sergeant Mulvaney, Andrae Crouch is Yertle the Turtle, Eileen Brennan is the Who-Villain, and Howie Mandel is the voice of Sam-I-Am. Directed by Vincent Paterson, "In Search of Dr. Seuss" was written by Keith R. Clarke and serves as a nice reminder for why the man and his creations were major icons of children's literature and popular culture. Warning: if you do not like the Grinch then watch out for the archival footage of Hitler and Stalin.

Rating: Summary: Wonderfully Done Review: My son and I thoroughly enjoyed this movie when it was on TV. I am so glad to find out that the DVD will be out in time for Christmas. Not only did we enjoy our favorite stories and the wonderful actors and actresses, but we found out so many interesting facts about Ted Geisel himself. This prompted my now 13 year old to start studying this wonderful man on his own. We have purchased a biography about T.G. and have now sent several of the hard cover books as gifts to other children. I cannot tell everyone enough how much our family has enjoyed this movie...Great for adults as well as children!

Rating: Summary: Truly Awful! Review: This has to qualify as one of the worst films of all time. It has the unfunniest jokes, the most bored-looking stars, and the stupidest makeup of any film! It is an insult to Dr.Seuss, Ted Geisel, AND Theo. LeSeig(His various names). It has a good story to tell but botches it totally. A pain to watch.
Rating: Summary: Terrific for all ages/ all levels Review: This is a terrific video! My kids (now 5 & 8) had borrowed this from the public library so many times, that we just HAD to buy a copy of our own! The mixture of song, dance, well-known actors and clips from the various animated movies inter-twined in the storyline of a journalist trying to get the "real" story on Dr. Seuss is all wonderful. My kids don't care much for the documentary sections, but that, too is well done and filled with a wealth of information and insight. I highly recommend this video.
Rating: Summary: Better fun for adults than for kids! Review: This video is informative and fun. It explores the life of Dr. Seuss and also acts out some of his best stories, including the Lorax, the Grinch and the Butter Battle. Robin Williams is great....like watching Mork from Ork read the Cat in the Hat. The star studded cast is impressive and the whole thing is very original. Adult Seuss fans might get more out of this video than the kids! Excellent.
Rating: Summary: A joy to watch. Review: Watching this movie always puts me in a good mood. This is a great review of Suess's life and his stories. Informative and entertaining. A reporter goes to Suess's studio to learn more about Dr. Suess. While in the studio, she opens a book and is brought into a world were she meets characters from all our favorite Dr. Suess stories. Guided by the Cat in the Hat, she learns about Suess's life, and gets insight into his stories. I greatly enjoyed the sets and costumes, which were made to look like Suess's drawings. Seeing your favorite actor's in those costumes is also a treat (Christopher Lloyd, Patric Stewart, Robin Williams, Howie Mandell, and more). We see many video clips from the animated Dr. Suess stories included in the story line. I highly recommend this video!
Rating: Summary: Captivating, fun and informative! Review: We purchased this video a little over a year ago and we still haven't tired of it. Our teenage son and daughter love it! Kathy Najimy and Matt Frewer are great as the reporter and the Cat in the Hat. The other guests, such as Patrick Stewart and Robin Williams, were priceless. This is a video for all ages. The children will enjoy the musical presentations of Dr. Seuss' timeless stories. The adults will enjoy learning about Dr. Seuss and his struggles to get his stories in print. Anyone who has grown up on Dr. Seuss stories will treasure this wonderful presentation of the man behind the name and his entertaining but informative stories.
