Rating: Summary: "Bosko Video" logo ruins an otherwise great DVD. Review: As stated in the previous review, the "Bosko Video" logo that pops up during each of these 28 cartoons is so tacky that it renders the whole affair worthless. Might as well wait for them to be shown on television and record them. Definitely not for collectors. Bosko belongs in the VHS market.
Rating: Summary: Interesting example of wartime propaganda. Review: From a historical viewpoint, these cartoons are important. During World War II, the U.S. military tried to use racial stereotyping to encourage U.S. soldiers to think that it was OK to kill the enemy. The cartoons also give advice to soldiers such as don't accidentally dislcose military secrets to a woman that you might be involved with. Mel Blanc does the voice of Private Snafu, but he's really just recylcling his Bugs Bunny voice. The fact that this DVD contains ALL of the Private Snafu cartoons on one disc is an example of why DVD is better than VHS. The VHS version of this release requires two tapes. I also like the fact that the cartoons are shown in their original black and white versions. Putting out colorized verions would have been a big mistake. Overall, this is a pretty good DVD... except for one MAJOR problem. The problem is that all of the cartoons are covered up by a "Bosko Viedo" logo. I don't understand why the logo appears while the cartoons are playing. Were it not for this logo, this DVD would be a valuable addition to one's DVD collection, and I would probably give it three or four stars. But with the logo, I consider this DVD to be worthless, and so I am giving it only one star. I wish that I could get my money back. But since I already opened it, I am not allowed to return it. What a shame.
Rating: Summary: On-screen logo is no big deal Review: Having finally bought a DVD player, this was one of the first DVDs I planned on buying. I think I made a good choice. I find it hard to believe these were originally intended for the military; would a soldier actually take serious advice from a cartoon? Typical cartoon-type stuff, but obviously of a military theme. (Members of the politically-correct crowd will definitely have something to say about several of these cartoons.) The main complaint seems to be with the "Bosko Video" logo that pops up in each cartoon. I found it to be a very minor irritant, especially when you consider how these films have not been widely available. The logo briefly comes on-screen in the lower right corner, but only for 2-3 seconds, and only one time in each film. Is the logo annoying? Maybe, but a very small price to pay. Overall I didn't think it was a big problem at all.

Rating: Summary: thanks Amazon and Others! Review: I bought this at Tower the other night. I came home and read what the others had written. Thank God I had not opened it! I promptly took it back. Shame on the producer for ruining this collection. From now on, I will always check Amazon and the customer reviews. Great feature, BTW.
Rating: Summary: Buying this DVD was a big mistake. Review: I have been a huge fan of the classic Warner Bros cartoons my entire life. So when I heard that a DVD of them was finally being released, I was very eager with anticipation. Much to my disappointment, all of the cartoons on this DVD are covered up with a "Bosko Video" logo. It's bad enough that logos like this cover up cartoons that are broadcast on TV, but there is no excuse to have such a logo on a home video. I wish that I had not bought this DVD. If you are reading this, then please, don't make the same mistake that I did.
Rating: Summary: The Private Snafu DVD is a ripoff. Review: I just bought the "Complete Uncensored Private Snafu" DVD. This DVD is the very definition of fraud. On all of the cartoons, their is a "Bosko Video" logo that appears on screen, on top of the cartoons. The logo appears on top of the cartoons. The logo covers up parts of the cartoons. Because of this logo, the cartoons are not "complete." Because of this logo, the cartoons are not "uncensored." I am very angry. I am very mad. I am very upset. I have been ripped off. I am a victim of fraud. Why did they do this? Why did they cover up the cartoons? Why did they ruin what otherwise would have been a great DVD?
Rating: Summary: Great toons, but HOOOORRRRRIBLE dvd Review: I just got this dvd today and sweet jesus is this a horrible transfer to dvd. I honestly don't care about the logo, i'm am steamed, if you will, at the boarder that surrounds each of the toons. This really draws me back and makes me feel like this dvd is NOT worth the price tag is holds. This dvd feels really sloppy and underproduced. The least they could've done was make the toons fill out the whole freaking screen!!! Again, the toons are GREAT (and i'm generally not a big Looney Toons fan), but the dvd is really lousy.

Rating: Summary: Nothing Wrong With the On Screen Logo Review: I love these cartoons and their adult themes (hence the double meaning for "Booby Traps"), humor, and writing of Ted Geisel (a.k.a. Dr. Seuss) who wrote about 6 of them. You'll recognize his rhyming style so familiar in "The Cat in the Hat" but used in a few SNAFU cartoons. These are black and white and weren't ever released theatrically. They were so-called "army training films" but I'm sure they were used for comic relief and morale builders for the G.Is.
