Rating: Summary: A Halloween Favorite Review: Since I was a kid, I've enjoyed seeing this fun cartoon, and I'm sure your kids will enjoy it also. This show has it all, light suspense, action, adventure, and loads of laughs. This is the kind of film you'd enjoy watching with your kids while downing some popcorn and soda. It will put them on the edge of their seats, especially when Linus and Sally think the Great Pumpkin is rising out of the pumpkin patch. There's loads of laughs as Charlie Brown's head is used to draw a picture of what the Jack-O-Lantern should look like, and as he goes to each house hoping for a delectable treat only to get a rock. Snoopy has a really cool dream of being a Flying Ace who battles it out with the infamous Red Baron. Then, there's the Halloween party where you get to see the Peanuts gang and their rather funky dance moves. This is a great video to watch for the entire family and what makes it even better is the fact that, unlike most cartoons today where you can hardly set your eyes on one scene before it quickly changes to another, this one gives you time to look at the scene. It's very colorful, very entertaining.
Rating: Summary: One of the great Halloween cartoons of all time Review: I am an unabashed fan of the work of Charles M. Schulz, and this ranks as the second-greatest "Peanuts" cartoon (the Christmas film being the first and best). It's Halloween and the Peanuts gang goes out Trick-or-Treating... everyone, that is, except Linus and Sally. Linus is going to spend another Halloween sitting in a pumpkin patch, waiting for the Great Pumpkin to rise up with his bag of presents -- and this year, he's convinced poor Sally to hold the lonely vigil with him.I've always loved the disparity of the Peanuts characters -- Linus is clearly the most intelligent character in Charlie Brown's universe, yet somehow he made a fundamental error in his understandings of Halloween and Christmas. But it's all to the good, because that classic blunder has made for one of the most beloved Halloween films ever. This cartoon is 36 years old and holds up like it was made yesterday. The characters are still brilliant, beautiful and universal. Watch this with your kids, watch it for yourself... just watch it.

Rating: Summary: Classic Holiday Fun - The Great Pumpkin Review: I can't remember a year when I never got to see IT'S THE GREAT PUMPKIN, CHARLIE BROWN during the Halloween season, and this, by far, is a must-own DVD for family entertainment during that time of year. It's even fun to watch year-round. I've seen it so many times in my 25 years that I pretty much know the dialogue. Do you? This short movie features Linus and his obsession with the Great Pumpkin (a similarity to Santa) who arises out of the most sincere pumpkin patches and distributes toys to all the good kids...ESPECIALLY those who keep faith in the Great Pumpkin. Sally is intrigued (and infatuated with Linus) and decides to sit all night in the pumpkin patch with him. While this is going on, Charlie Brown, Lucy, Violet, Pig Pen and the gang go trick-or-treating and then to a Halloween party. Snoopy gets into a few misadventures himself, disguised as the WWI Flying Ace. Later that night, Linus and Sally see something in the pumpkin patch...is it the Great Pumpkin? Well, if you haven't seen it by now, I'll let you find out for yourself. Definitely one of the most highly recommended family Halloween videos, next to Garfields Halloween Adventure (if this will ever become available again in the future - and hopefully so). This is just one of those movies that will always be a favorite; great characters, spooky music and just overall hilarious. I see it every Halloween and never get bored of it. The DVD edition comes with a bonus film "You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown". Highly recommend...enjoy, and have a Happy Halloween!
Rating: Summary: Classic Peanuts Review: I didn't grow up watching this cartoon every year on TV. In fact, I just saw it for the first time last year. However, I liked it immediately because of my love for the Peanuts gang. There are several story threads, but no one overall story. The gang's plans for Halloween night are interspersed with scenes of Snoopy being a WWI Flying Ace and Charlie Brown trying to kick the football because he has a signed note from Lucy. (Classic line - "It's not notarized.") Charlie Brown cuts too many holes in his ghost sheet, gets rocks in his bag, and becomes a model for a pumpkin face. Meanwhile, Linus and Sally await the Great Pumpkin. Also on the DVD is You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown. This one follows a more unified story of Linus trying to become student body president. Things are going well, until he starts talking about the Great Pumpkin. The DVD offers no extra beyond these two classic TV specials. The picture is sharp and the sound is great, however. This DVD belongs in any Peanuts fan's library.
Rating: Summary: Dated, Yet Still Tons of Fun; A True Classic! Review: Yes, you read correctly: four stars. Not five. Why, might you ask? Am I crazy? No, I am not. At least I don't think I am :) I am a huge fan of Peanuts. Every year, I look forward to the holiday specials on television. IT'S THE GREAT PUMPKIN, CHARLIE BROWN is one of them. Yet, I must admit: much like A CHARLIE BROWN THANKSGIVING and IT'S THE EASTER BEAGLE, CHARLIE BROWN, this show is kind of dated. I do still love it -- the characters and classic Peanuts gags we have all come to cherish. But truth be told, the animation in these earlier specials is sort of crude and the timing between a lot of the dialogue is very very very offbeat. So much so that it can actually get boring at times. Yet I still love them. There is just something about these shows that we can all relate to again and again. Yes, the later films, tv shows and specials are all better drawn, and the timing is right on the dot; and some have a much smoother feel. But these, I think, contain a certain nostalgic feeling. And that's why they are "classics."
Rating: Summary: Still Great All These Decades Later! Review: What's not to like about this treasured Halloween "Peanuts" tale? There's the fabulous piano music score. ... Linus and his blanket keeping watch in the nearby pumpkin patch, awaiting the infamous "Great Pumpkin". ... Sally getting gypped out of "Tricks or Treats". ... Snoopy dueling the Red Baron atop his doghouse. ... And, of course, the hilarity (and sadness at the same time) of watching Charlie Brown accumulate a bagful of rocks on Halloween Night. These indelible set-pieces make up one of the most endearing, and timeless, holiday classics ever broadcast on television. "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown", first telecast way back in 1966, will forever be a holiday favorite...whether it be on broadcast TV (remember the original TV commercials for Coca-Cola, McDonald's, and Dolly Madison Cakes?), VHS Video, or DVD. Now ... if only some kindly neighbor could just toss a Snicker's Bar (or maybe even a fresh Dolly Madison Cupcake) into Charlie Brown's bag, I think we'd all feel better. :-)
Rating: Summary: Charlie Brown is one of the iconic figures of our time Review: Charlie Brown is one of the iconic figures of our time, and now that his great creator is no longer with us, we must content ourselves by enjoying hugely enjoyable videos like this one. When you next have a Peanuts nostalgia evening, buy this video and watch it with all your friends!
Rating: Summary: charlie brown season sets??? Review: I'm a Snoopy fan, but it's a shame that United Media releases only stand-alone dvd's... why, oh, why don't they releases Season Sets (with extras)?... the Transformers had them, why not Charlie Brown?
Rating: Summary: It's Great Fun, Charlie Brown Review: After the Emmy-award-winning "A Charlie Brown Christmas", Charles Schulz brought another holiday to life with Peanuts fun and amazing real-world accuracy. Somehow none of what makes Halloween great are lacking in these thirty minutes--a pile of leaves to run into, costumes to wear, and treats to get. And who can forget Lucy and her apple-bobbing experience? Of course the real appeal is waiting with Linus in the pumpkin patch, even after a certains girl's smitten grows into disdain, and hoping the Great Pumpkin arrives. Some have waited with Linus each year since this presentation first appeared in 1966!
