Summary: GREAT CAST, GREAT STORY , GREAT ACTION
Review: In my view this is Schwarzenegger's best film. The film is beautiful on DVD. The cast had excellent chemistry. I wanted to see more features on this DVD, even though the biggest feature is the film itself. I would like 20th Century Fox to put out a Collector's Edition of Predator with as much valuable information as the fans can stand...OUTTAKES, MORE TRAILERS, A BEHIND THE SCENES DOCUMENTARY WITH CAST AND CREW, DELETED SCENES, A BLOOPER REEL, ANAMORPHIC WIDESCREEN/PAN & SCAN FORMAT, and any other extras Fox can think of. What's funny to me is that THE TERMINATOR & TERMINATOR 2: JUDGEMENT DAY get all the hype...both very good movies, but Predator is action at its best.

Purchase PREDATOR from Amazon.com, you can't go wrong.

Summary: PREDATOR ROCKS!
Review: PREDATOR is nearly unquestionalby the best action/adventure/sci-fi horror movie of all time. Arnold Schwarzenegger stars as his best role of all time- Dutch Schaiffer- a soldier- out to save his life in the Central American Jungle. He faces a deadly alien creature from another world and battles it out to the death of all of his men in this movie- including Jesse Ventura, Richard Chaves, Kevin Peter Hall, Shane Black Bill Duke and Director John McTeirnan (Die Hard 1 & 3, Thomas Crown Affair, 13th Warrior, Last Action Hero, Hunt For Red October). This movie is my personal favorite because of it's action adventure and thrills. Awesome special effects and acting make this movie the best! This is what a real Arnold movie is all about! 20/5 stars! See this movie ASAP! If you love action adventure, sci-fi, horror and Arnold Schwarzenegger- then this is the # 1 movie for you.

Summary: Magnificent
Review: This must be Schwarzenegger's finest hour as an 'action' actor. Released in 1987, Predator is a supreme action picture that has tension, violence (to a high degree), comedy, as well as beautiful locations and the best assembled group of actors for any hollywood action movie.

What I was really impressed with was the special effects (for it's time), the way each member of the elite commando unit bonded together, the chemistry between this group (you could not choose any other actors to play their roles) and last, but not least the creature, the alien itself. It is superb, perfectly constructed and created by Stan Winston, much better than the creatures that ever caused a fright in the 'Alien' movies.

What is such a shame is that the film was never made into a large successful franchise (like the alien films), its sequel Predator 2 is great also, but it seems to lack a certain quality compared to its predecessor. I had heard that a Predator 3:The Hunt was supposedly on its way, as well as an Aliens VS Predator, but this was at least 4 or 5 years ago so I am not optimistic about whether there will ever be another Predator film sequel.

Maybe its best leaving it like it is, but it would have been nice to have had a trilogy.....

Summary: Pretty Good Schwarzenegger film
Review: Predator is a pretty good film, directed by John McTiernan(Die Hard,The Hunt For Red October). It's got lots of action, and it's pretty exciting. The plot is basically about a group of soldiers, led by Schwarzenegger,in the jungle of Central America, who are hunted and killed one by one by an alien, who can make himself invisible, and is most of the time. The special effects are good, and Alan Silvestri's musical score adds nicely to the film.Of course in the end it's just a one on one showdown between Schwarzenegger and the alien.Guess who wins! Overall,it's a just a very entertaining film.

Summary: DO NOT WASTE MONEY ON THIS DVD
Review: FOX must have some nerve releasing this ace movie again as a piece ofgarbage. If you have the first version stick with it. Avoid thisshoddy DTS version at all costs.

The DTS sound may [be good] and thepicture may well be anamorphic but there is still no reason to buythis. There are no special features beyond the same trailer as before(which is actually a teaser) and the disc itself lacks the artwork ithad before. All it is now is a totally blank coaster with"Predator" barely noticeable on it. The logo on the spine isnot in the "Predator font" as before. It is just normalwriting. This points to an obviously hurried rerelease.

If you faila maths test by getting a D what is the point in hurrying thru itagain to get a D+? There is no point. Therefor you look for where youwent wrong before and try to fix it. FOX should learn a thing or twofrom this.

Do not buy this. It may be a D+ but the first (D-grade)version does not look as cheap. If you want to spend money onsomething it should at least look good. FOX never once thought ofthis. Avoid.

Summary: Better than average man v. monster flick
Review: Arnold Schwarzenegger has one of his best roles as Dutch, the leader of an elite rescue force which is called upon to rescue a cabinet minister of a friendly Latin American government who has fallen into rebel hands. Coming along for the ride is Dillon, played by Carl Weathers, who used to work with Dutch in years past but now is a CIA agent. What Dutch does not realize is that the story he has been fed by Dillon is baloney.

Predator plays like two movies in one. The first third of the film focuses on Dutch's team trying to rescue the "cabinet minister" held in an armed camp deep in the Central American jungle. The movie then changes gears when the Predator starts hunting Dutch's team.

What helps make Predator better than other films of this genre is a really good cast that complements Schwarzenegger, including Jesse Ventura as the tobacco chewing Blaine, Bill Duke as Mac (notice how he is always shaving himself even though he does not have any facial hair!), Sonny Landham as Billy, the Indian Tracker, and the beautiful Elpidia Carillo as Anna. Each character has a well defined personality that makes each one stand out.

The Predator is "one ugly...." as Dutch calls him, and it can best be described as tall creature with a crab-like face and rasta dreadlocks.

There are some minor plot flaws, for example, why did the Predator wipe out Jim Hopper's team before it could attack the rebel camp, but then waits until after Dutch's team has wiped out the camp before he hunts them? I also thought the scene when they were all firing into the jungle to be a bit excessive, but Predator is still a classic for me.

Summary: Very Poor Transfer from Fox!
Review: I do not know what Fox Home Entertainment is doing here, but I recently replaced my previous DVD version of this film, hoping the DTS would enhance my viewing experience. The transfer has major grain on it, and the brightness and resolution is nowhere near the quality of the original DVD. Stick with the Dolby Digital copy. -bad move Fox.

Summary: Arnold at his best!
Review: This is one of those films that made Arnold Schwarzenegger the superstar he is today. Predator is an excellent sci-fi action film. Tons of bangs and explosions and guns a blazing. This a great movie to watch on those days that you are really bored. I think the real star of this movie is the predator itself. It has been depicted in numerous comics and games since the movie was released. A very original and creative character. This a very entertaining movie, and a great one to own. My only complaint about the dvd is the lack of extras. Unfortunatly this was released in the early days of dvd, when that sort of thing wasn't important. None the less, I really like this disc.

Summary: Best Scene in An action film
Review: The scene where dutch, apollo and jesse the body were simply firing their guns into the forest in hope of hitting the invisible creature was a real adrenaline pump. When i saw the film with my eight friends (law school conservative chaps) we were all peeled to the screen. Must have film
