Summary: Pitch Black is a visual masterpiece with a decent plot
Review: With a great casting job and the most excellent cinematography of the year to date, Pitch Black is a movie to see. But here's a warning: rent it on DVD and watch it in Dolby Digital Surround Sound or you won't get the theater feel, and it is necessary to enjoy the full effects. Vin Diesel is simply a bad@#* in Pitch Black, but he isn't so invincible that he gets his way at all times. Radha Mitchell plays a headstrong, stubborn navigator thrust into a role of command, and she plays the part well. But the best thing about this movie is director David Twohy's mastery of the camera. For the first half of the movie, the screen was so bright from the three suns that I needed refills on my drink three times to quench my thirst. Twohy's portrayal of a bleak desert world was impressive and worked well. But when the eclipse came, the movie went from bleak heat to dark fear. Just like that. But the great part about it is that the viewer doesn't consciously recognize the transition. It is a subconscious switch that heightens the apprehension level and sets the heart beating. I can't describe it any better than that, but the movie was worth the $6.50 and will be worth my $20 when it comes out on DVD.

Summary: Thy Dying Light, and Desolate Darkness!
Review: WoW! Pitch Black dishes out the real atmospheric-edge-of-your-seat thriller! I've seen this movie twice so far, and it just keeps on getting better & better every time! I have NO idea where to start here, I loved the visuals, the majority of the film lies in the darkness, but in the beginning it looks really grim and creepy! The aliens are well designed as well, It took me a little while to figure out they're bodies and stuff, but they look great! What can I say? Pitch Black is total terror that was mesmerize you with it's suffocating power!! Buy this, you will NOT be dissapointed! Fans of the Alien trilogy will approve...!!!

Summary: SCI-Fi Classic
Review: This movie is in line with the classic's. It gives the regular Sci-fi buff, his adreneline and gives the Madlock detective a piece of mystery in finding out who is the good guy. It's special effects were very good and I will house this one, when it come's out in DVD, in my collection. I say you must see this movie. Those who dont like this movie are not pure Sci-Fi buffs. Even tho you may never see these types of creatures, in our life time, that was a great part on the imagination of the artist. In a world of make believe and computers, imagination needs to be great, like in this movie. It also has to be believeable to some sort. That makes a Great Sci-Fi movie and to me this is one of them.

Summary: A good effort
Review: I watched this movie because it reminded me of the Alien series. For its budget, the movie delivered. Whilst Alien has got Ripley, Pitch Black has got Riddick. He's COOL in capital letter. Riddick hadn't got much lines in this movie but there's really no need for that when his charisma had taken care of the rest. Never in this movie I had any doubt that Riddick wouldn't be killed off because Pitch Black is a potential classics & I'm adamant that a sequel is looming. If viewers were looking for a horror sci-fi thriller, this movie was almost there. The creatures were revealed too soon & because of that, the essence of wanting to catch a glimpse upon the creatures in the end of the movie was lost. Minimal fighting scenes were offset by interesting angle shots & clever use of cinematography. One major disappointment of the movie, in my opinion was when Riddick was trapped by 2 creatures. I would expect a dramatic climax to the fight but all so suddenly, the movie moved to another scene altogether. Then, there was a loud scream & the next thing, Riddick was wounded. What I'm getting here is that where's the main course when I'm already been served the dessert? Thank goodness the characters in Pitch Black were more 3 dimensional than other Hollywood offerings & devoid of sentimentality. Some flat moments but otherwise, a entertaining movie to share with family & friends.

Summary: Visually captivating, the best Sci-fi movie in years.
Review: This movie goes beyond your basic special effect movie. Vin Diesel as Riddick was just awesome, and Radha Mitchell gives an excellent performance as Fry. What I liked is the people don't start killing the creatures from the get go, unlike most sci-fi films of the genre. Their response was typical let's get out of here! I think the movie would have been better served if we never saw the creatures, although there appearance was very interesting. All in all a very pleasant surprise, the characters drew you into the story and made it very believable and interesting. The setting and the way it was filmed was just spectacular, I would rate this aspect of the film a 10, for an overall mark I give this film a solid 7. I plan on adding the one to my video or DVD collection.

Summary: The greatest sci-fi of all time
Review: this is an edge-of-your-seat movie. Great special effects, even better than Star Wars. all kinds of thrills and spills. every time you think that they are no going to make it, something new happens. Just as things start to look better, the unthinkable happens. This is the most realistic future movie since 5th Element. The creatures used are well written, they even act like real wild animals although on a much higher claliber

Summary: Horrendous!!!!
Review: This film really, i mean really, adds some new depths & dimensions to the word "awful". If you are one of those who think that IQ is a shampoo brand then this film is for you. I just went "huh?" when i read a reviewer mentioned Asimov's "Nightfall". This dreadful, stupefying movie cannot be compared to antyhing else, for it's a masterful collapse. Horror of horrors!

Summary: Finally a movie worth a comment!
Review: Most of the movies I've seen in the past year or so have been from fairly decent to really good (Gladiator and Pitch Black come to mind), but aside from those two, most of even the good movies weren't much to comment on. I've seen a decline in originality and new concepts and approaches to movies lately, and it's quite disquieting. This is one of the first summers where I don't have any major blockbusters to look forward to with anxious anticipation.

That said, Pitch Black met and far exceeded my expectations. First of all, I must say how much I enjoyed Vin Diesel's performance, taking a fairly stock character and working it into a character that made you think and examine after the movie was over. Also, and perhaps especially, I enjoyed the cinematography. The filtered, bleached look used for most of the scenes was really captivating, as well as the angles and close ups used to emphasis key moments. The whole visual composition of the movie was stunning, from the special effects, to the use of good of cinematography and also the set and costume design. It all flowed together into a nice blend of something different from the mainstream blah. So, if you're in search of something a little different, and especially if you enjoy sci-fi movies, Pitch Black is a must see.

Summary: Wow, a must see!
Review: The shadows of everything and the way the aliens looked when you could actually see them, was outstanding. Vin Diesel was so talented, he just blew me away. He literally would take over the screen. I will definatley be following his career!

Summary: Vin Diesel
Review: I didn't expect this movie to impress me, but it really did! And Vin Diesel is not only very talented, but probably the hottest damn thing I've ever seen. I recommend this movie and anything else he's been in!
