Rating: Summary: Great Effects, Good Storyline, Bad Casting Review: Brendan Fraser was the wrong person for the leading role in this movie, he made this movie hokey/cheesy.
Rating: Summary: Fun Adventure Film Review: I truly enjoyed this movie. If you are expecting a remake of the old horror film, don't. The original was great. This movie is full of adventure. Brendan Fraser plays an Indiana Jones type character. In my opinion, the only movie where he was better was "Gods and Monsters". The other cast members are very good also. As always, I never know whether to hate or feel sorry for the "monster". I don't think anyone would be disappointed in this movie. Kick back and enjoy.
Rating: Summary: GREAT SHOW!!!!!! Review: We thought it was fantastic! It wasn't all blood and gory, but had a humorous side with it. We watched it two nights in a row!!! It was kind of like a Indiana Jones movie, which we loved also. Great movie we would recommend it to anyone.
Rating: Summary: Arnold Vosloo - where have u been all my life? Review: Discovering Arnold Vosloo was the best surprise of all! What a Yummy Mummy! Other surprises -Brendan Fraser was great and not so goofy-looking, Oded Fehr - the new teen heart-throb. Women in my ARnold Vosloo Discussion group are going out buying DVD players JUST to watch the Collector's Edition whose Bonus Material quality feedback has spread thru the e-mail. An excellent production and a must-have for movie collectors. I bought a 60-inch tv just to watch this DVD and am waiting for the sequel.
Rating: Summary: Not as good as it should be Review: This movie is an example of an Indiana Jones movie gone wrong. I'm sorry to say it but B.F can't act to save his a** . His character makes many failed attempts at jokes with most of them just making the scene choppy. And i won't even start with the storyline. Overall its a pretty entertaining action movie that will please you if you're not looking for a movie to stimulate you mind.
Rating: Summary: Great production values and effects, poor script,! Review: The MUMMY has great digital effects and stunning production values. However, great effects alone do not make a good movie. The script is tongue-in-cheek, often played for laughs. Therefore the element of surprise and horror is often compromised. The chracters are often irritating. The only exception is Arnold Vosloo as the title chracter who is is given litte to do. Brendan Frazer as a gun totting, loud mouth hero who shoots at any thing that moves (even a wind storm)is hammy. It is hard to believe this is the same actor who turned in such a fine performance in GODS AND MONSTERS. I will give Fraser the benifit of doubt and blame the script and direction. The other chracters are just as predictable. The DVD, however will not disappoint movie fans. Every detail involved in the making of THE MUMMY is explored. A good commentary track, a 50 minute documentary on the digital effects is better than the film. Jerry Goldsmith's music score (which I enjoyed) is presented on its own over the language menu. Unfortunatly you cannot skip ahead, back or pause the music track, otherwise it resumes from the begining. Get the MUMMY DVD if you enjoy learning about movies are made. But in my opinion, the movie alone is not worth repeating.
Rating: Summary: Excellent!! Review: My husband is a sci/fi fan from the word go. He totally enjoyed the film, and I a non sci/fi fan, to my surprise I even enjoyed it. We both give it 5 stars! We will buy this film.GJ/LJ.
Rating: Summary: WHY NOT WIDESCREEN & FULL FRAME ON SAME DISC? Review: Hey Universal (and other studios), why not put both widescreen & full frame on the DVD like they began doing. I just bought the DVD and it turned out to be the less desired butchered full frame, so I will return it. Why confuse everyone rather than educate those with the better widescreen version showing everything.
Rating: Summary: Great special effects. . . . . horrible cast Review: I rented the Mummy hoping to see a serious movie with awesome special effects. What I got were great special effects, and a mismatched cast. Brendon Frazier (not sure of the spelling) was horrible in this movie. His comedic style completely ruined what could have been an awesome movie. I was expecting an "Indiana Jones" type movie, but what I got was Encino Man being chased by a mummy. I would encourage renting this movie for the special effects, but thats about it.
Rating: Summary: This movie was so good I saw it two times. Review: I saw the previews for this movie and I wanted to see it. I loved it. It made me jump in my seat and it also was a great romance spark movie between the two characters. I loved the way it ended.
