Rating: Summary: UNQUESTIONABLY THE BEST OF THE 4 ALIEN MOVIES Review: The second of four "ALIEN" movies by far outshines all other "ALIEN" movies. From the beginning, this movie grabs you, pulls you in, and never allows you to get bored or think about a bathroom break. The acting is GREAT. The Special Effects are incredible. A MUST SEE for any Sci-Fi Fan.
Rating: Summary: Kudos to Fox for finally getting their act together. Review: When DVD, that roaring locomotive of a format, first rolled out, FOX sheepily stepped aside while studios like Warner Bros. and New Line took charge. Then to add insult to injury, FOX decides to just test the waters with a few obscure titles, like Home Alone 3 while at the same time endorsing the only thing scarier that the Alien itself, DIVX. Now all this is slowly changing. Fox is finally starting to release some fantastic DVDs. The ALIENS: SPECIAL EDITION DVD is incredible. I expected FOX to have just a flat menu screen with maybe a alien graphic and some links buttons. Boy was I blown away when I saw the fully interactive and animated menu screens. If you appreciated the moody, atmospheric, dark tone of the film, then you will love this discs 3D menus, which allows the viewer to walk down the dark wet halls of Hadley's Hope while Lt. Gorman rambles nervously over the speaker. FOX also takes full advantage of the the audio-god Dolby Digital and its super side-kick THX, and of course I cant say enough for the restored footage. The DVD even comes with a booklet with great information on the actors in the film. The only drawback I could find was that FOX could have done a directors audio commentary, but that's ok. This disc, with its awesome menus, great sound capabilities and restored scenes and extras, is the only ALIENS version to own.
Rating: Summary: The Directors Cut of AL|ENS was one of the best movies ever Review: The directors cut of Aliens was one of the best movies I have ever seen to top it off in this movie it mentions that Ripley has a daughter and that she lost her it also shows in another ut scene more about what happened to the coloney on LV-426 this is plain out the best movie I have ever seen in my entire life !!
Rating: Summary: A must have for any DVD collection. Review: Only a handful of sequels have surpassed their originals. 'The Empire Strikes Back', 'Terminator 2', 'The Godfather Part 2', and 'Aliens'. A true masterpiece, Aliens, is the cream of the crop when it comes to Sci-Fi horror, and no film has come close since its release back in 1986. A rollercoaster ride that doesn't let up.
Rating: Summary: Awesome Alien Bashing movie !!! Review: This is the best i have ever seen,alien-bashing is never been this cruel...arrghhhhh..!!
Rating: Summary: TRULY ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES EVER MADE Review: I have been waiting a LONG time for FOX to release this movie on DVD and I just bought a DVD player today solely for this one movie. It is a masterpiece of combining action, suspense, sci-fi and horror along with real characters that you can empathize with. The subject of motherhood is a theme explored from different viewpoints when we see Ellen Ripley's reaction to the news of the death of her daughter, her protection of Newt at all costs, and the ALIEN QUEEN attempting to protect her children and perpetuate her species. A GREAT story from beginning to end, and simply THE BEST movie in the " ULTRAVIOLENCE " genre.
Rating: Summary: this movie was the #1 alien move ever Review: this movie was phat i loved the way the aliens were portaed as not too clumsy or skiny and there system of reproducton really showed there role in the movie thay kill at birth the aliens were very origanl looking
Rating: Summary: Q: How do you beat a classic? A: Change the rules. Review: ALIENS is one of those truly rare animals: a sequel more than worthy of its successor. Where ALIEN is an endless anxiety attack, ALIENS is a bungie jump from the Tower of Babel. Controversial call, however: such a pity the original cinematic release doesn't receive the respect it deserves for being the better of the two available versions. The extra 17 minutes in the Special Edition/Director's Cut version was largely unnecessary (which is why it was removed in the first place). Perhaps with the exception of the 'sentry guns' scenes, those 17 minutes serve only to reduce the build in tension that is so effective in the cinematic release. Will Fox make the original version available on DVD? We can only hope.
Rating: Summary: PERFECTION!! Review: I remember seeing this movie back in 1986, and how I was completely blown away by its raw power. Where the original took a horror approach to the alien myth, its sequel was an all-out, slam-bang, edge-of-your-seat action thrill ride. Sigourney Weaver returns as Ripley, and though she is strong throughout, I believe the supporting cast led by Michael Biehn and Bill Paxton keep the film moving at a breathtaking pace. Director James Cameron truly hones his skills with this effort, which he used so well on "TITANIC" years later. This movie is a must have for any video collection, and might, quite possibly, be the best action/sci-fi film ever made. As good today as when I saw it over a dozen years ago. A true "MASTERPIECE"!!!
Rating: Summary: The special edition is much better than the standard. Super! Review: I am glad that Fox is releasing the directors cut on DVD. I have rented the Laser Disk version twice. It was a very limited edition. The video store where I rented it wont sell it to me! The added footage explores Ripleys motherhood. She is sad about losing her daughter and we feel a strong bond with her and the child Newt. This ties in with the Alien queen too - the strong bond of a mother protecting her young.
