Summary: This movie has some awesome effects and great extra's.
Review: The Mummy, one of the last movies I've seen. Actually I watched it two times in one week. The effects are dazzling. The way they made the faces in the sand, the wall of sand rushing after the airplane. The mummy itself, the beetles. Everything this movie is one of the best movies of this year. It nearly grabbed the 1st place which is still occupied by The Matrix. Those guys at ILM mean business.

Summary: Imhotep - my soul is yours!!!
Review: I used to drool over Brendan Fraser and his boyish good looks - the tango from Mrs Winterborne and the melting smile in George Of The Jungle, not to mention the body in Encino Man. But Brendan pales in comparison to Arnold Vosloo's smoldering sexiness as Imhotep. Okay, okay, I know hes' the bad guy, but really -what did he do other than sacrafice all for the woman he loved - and really, don't we all fantasise about such deep devotion? I mean, three thousand years is a long time to be the all-consuming (pardon the unintentional pun!) passion of such a man. And the end scene as he is submerging, those eyes looking up beseechingly - you think I could sleep that night??? All in all a most enjoyable film. Light on "moral of the story" unless its the old don't touch what you can't handle. But the colour, the fun, the self-deprecating humour and asides..... I can't think of much more that I'd want in a Sunday evenings entertainment! (And OHhhhhhh the dreams of the dark-eyed one!)

Summary: A Raiders of the Lost Ark of the Nineties
Review: I thought this film was great. The effects were great and the acting was very good also. I understand why people who wanted a pure horror film like Hellraiser or Nightmare on Elm Street would not be satisfied, but if your in to a rollicking good time movie that doesn't take itself too seriously this is it. I'd be very willing to see a sequel(of course they usually mess these up on even the best films). Some of the diatribe written here against the MUMMY reminds me of critiques against the original Raiders of the Lost Ark. I remember the controversy between the people who thought it was great fun and those who thought it was too simple-minded. The entire cast was very good. I'd like to see Ms Weisz in something else and the actor who played her brother (I can't remember his name but he played the young Scottish character in 4 Weddings and a Funeral) was hilarious.

Summary: Indiana Jones Returns!
Review: Okay, so Indiana Jones hasn't returned, but if you're an Indy fan, then this flick is definately for you!

The film has all of the elements that the Indy Jones films had: ACTION! ADVENTURE! HUMOR! ROMANCE! THE OCCULT! All blended together with some very good animation.

I don't recommend this film for young children, due to the graphic special effects, but this is a must have for those future Halloween get togethers!

NO, It's nothing like the earlier Karloff versions, but then, the world has changed over the decades! The story stands on it's own!

Summary: Good special effects movie.
Review: This movie was a bit of a disappointment. The special effects were incredible and it was a fun movie to watch, but it was campy.

Summary: It isn't a horror movie!
Review: People keep bashing this movie because it is fomulated and isn't at all scary. Well, it is meant to be like Indiana Jones, a movie that wasn't original, scary, or deep, but it WAS extremely fun, and the same goes for The Mummy. It is a fun movie, not a deep one, and its highest aspiration is to keep the audience excited, and it does this. Want something deep and meaningful? Go watch Life Is Beautiful. I, however, like a movie that keeps me awake for the entire thing (and don't think that all I care about is special effects, or that I am shallow when it comes to movies. My favorite movie is Clockwork Orange by the late Stanley Kubrick.) I just like to have brainless fun once in a while while watching a movie, and for me, this equals all Indiana Jones movies for mindless action and fun.

Summary: One dimentional plot and characters despite special effects
Review: This movie follows the footsteps of movies such as "Twister" and "Juracic Park" - rich in effects and no substance. Come on, formula such as "a girl screw up a spell requiring a handsome guy to rescue her" is overused. Of course at the end the treasures are lost. Despite some fun moments, this is a one-time rental.

Summary: Rick O'Connel Rules
Review: I think it could have been better if Rick coulda kept the shotgun at least. Or even just a revolver. But the scene with the swordfighting was cool too.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: It was okay
Review: There were a few good scares in the movie, that I must say! Unfortunately there was also cheesy dialogue and bad jokes. But all in all not bad.
