Summary: Great
Review: Great movie, very funny. I actually thought it would be very scary, and it did scare me once or twice, but I never expected it to be so funny. I esspescialy loved the library scene, hilarious. Overall it was a great movie. Good story too.

Summary: The Mummy - the best DVD you can buy
Review: First off, I would like to say that I saw this film in theaters opening weekend and loved it. Whenever it came out on video I bought it and loved it even more. I recieved the DVD for Christmas and all I have to say is -- wow. If you haven't seen this movie you don't know what you're missing. The film is a cross between horror, fun, and Indiana Jones but, unlike most movies these days, it actually has a great cast and a great plot. Aside from the film's top-rate special effects, I enjoy the musical score as well. And I was happily surprised one day whenever I went to the languages screen on the DVD that it played the complete uncut score from start to finish. Many were songs that weren't on the soundtrack. {which is also a great buy} The sound and picture quality is so much better on DVD that you can't complain about this film even if you don't like it. So go see this movie -- if you have only seen it on video experience the way it was meant to be seen -- on DVD. I can't wait for the sequel next May.

Summary: Pretty Good
Review: Good Movie. Good effects and all that but the plot overall was pretty stupid. A bit childish.

Summary: Loved It!
Review: This is my kind of movie. I saw The Mummy the day it came out and went back to see it the next day. I couldn't get enough. As soon as it came out on video, I bought it. The action was great and the special effects were awesome. The cursing was non-existent which made it even more enjoyable. There were very strong characters from the lead man (the strength of the group) to the wimp of the group and the actors/actresses brought out each characteristic strongly and they were very believable. The plot was interesting because it wasn't your typical "mummy chasing people" movie. Where some movies focus on one storyline, this movie had a mixture of action, romance and drama. The Mummy is definitely for someone who likes good, clean entertainment.

Summary: Citizen Kane it isn't
Review: but it doesn't try to be. A very entertaining movie, nice performance from Fraser. Sure, there are some flaws, cliches and whatnot, but it's still a good action-adventure, chock full of special effects.

Some very interesting DVD features as well. Documentaries of the special effects, and an Egyptology refresher 'course.'

Summary: It's the best
Review: This is simply one of the best thrillers of the last decade. And Loni Anderson's little-publicized cameo as the Mummy is brilliant. With no make up, after she's had all that work done, she IS the Mummy. I highly recommend the movie.

Summary: It's just plain FUN
Review: Everyone has a complaint about this or that, but let's face it. They weren't out to recreate the original Mummy (with Karloff), but to put new faces into it. Brandon Frasier is great in this film with the right amount of sarcasm that makes you laugh without getting on your nerves. The detail put into the characters interaction is what helps makes this film delightful. The special effects are good, but are definately outshined by the acting. It's one of those movies you through on while you do something else simply because you wouldn't mind hanging out with the characters if they existed in real life. The humour is genuine and not forced, it has the right amount of thrills. With the Indy series nearly dead (rumours abound of a fourth, but only rumours), I wouldn't mind them taking Brandon Frasiers character to fill his shoes. The era of the time, with all it's mystic and prim and properness just lends well into the mysteries of the unknown. Heck, Tommy Lee Jones went from the fugitive to US Marshalls, so let them do it here. And all around great fun film. People's disappointments with it stem from it possible being TOO much fun with out being more seriousness. But nothing is forced and the humour level is perfect. Not to mention the DVD itself is chockful of goodies like commentaries, histories, mini-games, etc. Great attention to detail for DVD extra's.

Summary: Excellent Special Effects Film.
Review: Director Stephen Sommers(The Jungle Book-the 1994 Version, Deep Rising) did a great job with the look, visual effects and good choice with the actors. He also wrote the Screenplay.

Originally, he was not the first of director, the others was:Joe Dante(Gremlins), Clive Barker(Night Breed), John Carpenter(the 1982 version of"The Thing") and Wes Craven(A Nightmare On Elm Street).

The Problem was Universal didn`t have a Story, just a few ideals but They Hired Writers to come up with the best story. It Was Writer and Director-Stephen Sommers was the Studio Choice.

Great Music score by Jerry Goldsmith(The Omen),which is fun to listen. George Lucas Effects House-Industrial, Light and Magic did a great job on the CGI Effects, it kind of remind you of Spawn, Based on the same CGI Effects, in this on The Mummy and the Movement of the Creatures. This film had great CGI effects at the beginning of the film.

The Film Budget at $80 Million, did great at the box office, almost double the film budget but an international BlockBuster, make this film an Box Office Giant.

Good Cast-Brandan Fraser(Encino Man), Rachel Weisz(Chain Reaction),John Hannan(T.V. Remake-The Love Bug), Arnold Vosloo(Hard Target) and Kevin J. O`Conner(lord Of Illusions).

This DVD`s has three different running commentary tracks and also Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 Surround Tracks. An strong anamorphic Widescreen(2.35:1) format. Grade:A-. Panavision.
