Summary: ONE PROBLEM......
Review: The new version of "The Mummy" is superb as entertainment, awesome in sound and visual effects, full of a great mix of adventure, horror and comedy except......don't consider yourself informed !What I mean by that strange remark is that this movie could have reached total perfection in all aspects if only more attention was paid to established facts. As someone who studied Egypt since childhood and who spent a month there in intense research ,as well as having native Egyptian friends,I can tell you that costly mistakes were made .To explain :This film will be exported. The Egyptians love American films. They know their history and will be furious when they see it scrambled in this film-so it will "bomb" over there. So why do we care? Like it or not,we all pick up information from what we view,so even though this movie is pure fun, viewers will adopt false background details as "facts".Correcting these details would not have detracted from the fun and would have made the whole thing far better for viewers in the know.I hope studio repsrealize this before the sequel is made.To sum up ;It's a perfect film except for one problem.....

Summary: Thee funniest movie on Mummy's & has great special effects!!
Review: This movie is not original. It's the basic save the world type movie, but what makes it so good is the special effects done with the mummy and numerous others. It's got it's funny parts played mostly by Rick and others. This movie also contain true facts about Egyptian life and afterlife. I personaly like the special effects and the comedy.

Summary: Give your higher brain functions a rest, and enjoy the show
Review: The Mummy has come in for a lot of criticism for being facile, missing the point that it is *meant* to be facile. You are likely to hate this movie if either (a) you need your movies to have great meaning and intellectual substance or (b) you expect it to be gory and frightening. The Mummy 'fails' on both these counts. It's simply eye candy (imagine Indiana Jones without any of the [misplaced] seriousness or attempts to gross-out the audience). It is ideal if you want to switch off from thinking and just enjoy a movie. Movie critics have a tendency to forget that movies are and were primarily about *entertainment*, not in-depth analyses of a tortured soul soul, hellish living conditions, or social deprivation. There of course a place for worthy movies like that, but there is also a place for pieces of pure fluff like this. My advice? Stop agonising over movies having to have meaning and enjoy yourself for a change.

The widescreen DVD is especially good and the audio commentary is excellent - amusing and informative without the tendancy to enter into a mutual admiration fest which mars some of these affairs.

Summary: Excellent, funny, fast paced, great effects!!!
Review: I don't know if anyone else caught it, but the movie was supposed to be filled with campy humor. Brandon Fraser does a great job, as do all the other actors, in hamming it up. If this movie was not done this way on purpose (which I doubt very much!!!), then it should have been! But that aside, the movie was fast paced, no dull moments, and the effects were fantastic. No matter what anyone else says, this viewer loved the flick, and if you have any kind of sense of humor and like great effects, this moive will be a 5 star for you too!

Summary: I love my mommy, but hate this Mummy!
Review: The sheer number of 4 and 5 star reviews here has me worried for the future of civilization. Throughout the first half of this stinker, I was tempted several times to turn off the VCR and do something more interesting, like water the plants. After the dreadfully slow first hour, filled with dreadful dialogue and dreadful acting, the story started to pick up. But decent special effects can't save an awful script.

The best scene was the one with the lead actress in a soaking wet dress. She was pretty cute, and tried her best with the lines she was given. She has potential, and hopefully will land in a better flm in the future. Brendan Frasier was an even less convincing action hero than Woody Allen would have been. Is this guy a bad actor or what?

Please, people, do not buy this movie. Save your hard-earned cash for something truly worthwhile. Take your husband/wife to dinner. Buy your children an ice cream. ANYTHING!!! Or better yet, buy the original Raiders of the Lost Ark, the greatest action movie ever made.

Summary: THE MUMMY IS A EDGE OF YOUR SEAT FIRE STARTER
Review: I HAVE SEEN THIS MOVIE AND I LOVE IT BECAUSE IT TAKES YOU BACK IN TIME TO WHEN EGYPT WAS IN IT'S PRIME AND AS FOR THE MUMMY HE WAS VERY SCARY ESPESCAILLY WHEN HE CAME TO LIFE AND TRIED TO CLAIM HIS RULING POWER. AS FAR AS THE BOOK BASED ON THE MOVIE I WAS TOLD THAT IT IS NOT WORTH READING. THE BOOK I RECCOMEND IS BY ANNE RICE. I HAVE IT AND LOVE IT.

Summary: Lovely! Strikes a perfect balance between humour and horror.
Review: I laugh myself nuts over the witty one-liners. I liked Jonathan a lot - especially when he goes along with the Mummy's hypnotized that say "Imhotep! Imhotep!" I love the way the Mummy walks too. Brendan Fraser is great and I love the way he talks to Beni. A must for all who want to recover from the older Mummies of Hollywood.

Summary: It's Cool
Review: The movies special effects are the best I have seen other then the Matrix which would match the Mummy in graphics and special effects but the mummy would win in the story line. It was a great movie.
