Summary: Neither here nor there
Review: I'm still not sure whether this film was intended to be a spoof or not. If so, it lacked enough laughs to be considered as such. On the other hand, if it was intended as a serious horror film it also fell short of the mark. There wasn't a single moment of tension. All in all, it was a bit like a carry on film. Not a patch on the Indiana Jones films.

Summary: Sets New Standard
Review: This movie sets a new standard in revising classic movie monsters. I think Brendan Fraser was fabulous.

Summary: Bound to eternal hilarity!
Review: This is one of the most enjoyable flicks i have ever seen. Sure it has tons of effects and a done and done again story, but the way it is handled and written makes it just plain fun. Following rick o'connell in his search for the city of the dead (and its treasures) we are thrown into pure nonstop action and perhaps the funniest scenes ever in a horror flick! The story is based around the search for the aformentioned location, which contains not only treasure but the cursed body of a priest caught with the pharoah's bride in a adulterous relationship. he is bound to hold the eternal curse which unfortunately also grants him amazing powers. when his tomb is invaded he is rereleased and is soon after the people who revived him and ultimately after a book that could provide the means to bringing his bride back and no one is gonna stand in his way! Truly entertaining! You will laugh your "you know what" off with this one! Lovable characters and one intimidating and horrendous villian are packed with a funny and fun plot and amazing special effects, to create one of my favorite movies! Corny and lovable, epic and fun, but always entertaining! Do not miss it! worth the money!

Summary: Mindless like pretty much everything nowadays
Review: The Mummy is a parade of special effects set in a pseudo-Egyptian location, coupled with a comedy-oriented plot that barely hearkens back to the original horror masterpiece. Fraser is a slightly more intelligent George of the Jungle, while the plot rotates around the archaeological party set out to find and explore "Hamunaptra", the Forbidden City where a great evil (the Mummy) is buried. Naturaly, the directors could not avoid the numerous misconceptions about the Black Land: the mummy's name is Imhotep (who was the builder of Jhoser's pyramids, not a vizier, pharaoh, or anything close), the mummy's powers are invoked through a "Black Book" and a "White Book" (Egyptians didn't use books in the modern sense of the word, moreover, they didn't use locks or keys). Of course there is the peevish sidekick to the main villain (a nuisance, mainly). The movies barely has any refernces to the horrors of the original film, and, whenever any comedy scenes are played, the sombre atmosphere kills them. The Mummy is trapped in an eteranl deadlock which it is not likely to escape if it preserves its contradicting qualities.

Summary: violence
Review: The violence in "The Matrix" was much worse than in "The Mummy". "The Mummy" has nowhere near the amount of blood and serious gun violence as in "The Matrix". When people where killed in "The Mummy", it was done in a much more cartoonish fashion that warrants a PG-13 rating, but no more than that. Are you seriously suggesting that "The Mummy" deserved the same rating as "Taxi Driver" or "Scarface"? If so, then I suggest you stick to Disney.

Summary: In short, it's special effects trash, nothing more.
Review: I was unlucky enough to have seen this movie in the theaters. I should've waited for it to come out on video. NO! I should've waited for it to premiere on network TV had I known it was going to be this bad. "The Mummy" is basically an exercise in special effects, and nothing more. At least they could've included something of a plot, but it was nowhere to be found. People said I should see it merely for the effects, although after seeing it, I didn't think they were any better than "The Matrix". I don't care for the acting, either. It's an example of what poor casting can do to a film. Now for my attack on the MPAA, I felt that the level of violence in this film was too much for a PG-13 rating. If you disagree with me, then take a close look at the R rated film "The Matrix" and decide for yourself which is worse.

Summary: this one has it all...
Review: If you're looking for a movie with lots of entertainment value, then look no further. This one has it all...action...comedy...suspense...romance...horror

Brendan Fraser does a great job as the action hero with John Hannah and Rachel Weisz providing some well timed comic relief. Reminds me of the Indiana Jones movies. This movie works just as well on the small screen as it does on the big one. Buy it and see for yourself!
