but wait here's the twist... the lead character ...is black.
sadly that is the only original thing in this movie.
i believe that if "a clockwork orange" were to be re-written today, instead of going into detail about the violence in the films alex was forced to watch, they would simply say: "The men in white coats lifted his eybrows and made him watch blade"
oh i forgot, you probably haven't read a book that doesn't have picture's, because the people who enjoyed blade are the same people who think "the rock" can act.

Review: Wesley Snipes is every vampire's worst nightmare in the fantastic comic book actioner "Blade". Legendary "Day-Walker" Blade (Wesley Snipes) uses his lethal skills in his quest to exterminate the vampire underworld from the face of the earth. When the rogue vampire Deacon Frost (Stephen Dorff) plots a vampire uprising against all humans, humanity's only hope for survival lies in the tortured vampire hunter Blade. Based on the Marvel Comics hero, "Blade" is an exciting, action-packed comic book film that contains extreme action and rich characters. The storyline moves quite fast and the action sequences are fierce and quite dazzling. Wesley Snipes and Stephen Dorff deliver some wildly effective performances. The cast also includes N'Bushe Wright, Donal Logue, Udo Keir, Traci Lords and Kris Kristofferson. New Line gives "Blade" an outstanding "Platinum Edition" presentation. The film is presented in its original 2.35:1 widescreen format. The DVD has a fine video transfer with rich colors and excellent sharpness. The 5.1 Dolby Digital sound is truly clear with amazing surround effects. Its supplemental features include a detailed audio commentary by cast and crew, deleted scenes, behind-the-scene featurettes, production designs and DVD-ROM extras. With such winning presentation and great supplements, "Blade" earns a solid "B+".

Summary: ACTION PACKED!!!
Review: Wesley Snipes stars as the tortured soul Blade possessing powers greater than any man or creature of the night. Blade sharpens his lethal skills under the guidance of a professional vampire hunter. When the bloodthristy immprtals' lord Deacon Frost declars war on the human race, Blade is humanity's last hope for survival. The best part was when Blade and Deacon fight. I loved it when Blade chopped off Deacon's head and it grew right back. I thought this movie was awesome. It was packed with 100% action from its action-packed opening and pulse-pounding conclusion. If you're a fan of vampire/action films this is the movie for you. Enjoy!!!

Summary: Pretty respectable Introduction to the Blade series
Review: I loved this movie. Basically because I like vampire/horror-genre films. The acting by Snipes and Kristofferson was impressive as was the storyline (A half human, half vampire battling the vampire-infested world). In this opening chapter of the Blade trilogy we see Blade trying to stop a crazed vampire(Stephen Dorff) from taking over the world and at the same time trying to slay the same man who changed his mother from human to vampire. Great costumes, action scenes and acting make this an exciting horror flick.

Review: After the past few vampire movies I've seen on the big screen I was starting to doubt there would ever be a good one again! 'Blade' proved me wrong. Wesley Snipes takes his charactor seriously, and does a great job in his vampire role! I can't decide which one I like better, 'Blade' or 'Blade 2'...they are both winners!

Summary: Slick Stylish Vampire Flick
Review: OK, so maybe I am a sucker for dark, comic book heroes, but Blade definitely works in the context of a popcorn movie. Sure, it's somewhat predictable and definitely relies on style more than substance, but when Blade decides he's going to kill some vampires, it's just plain fun to watch. We're not talking about high art here, just a good, American action movie. The action sequences are brilliantly choreographed and really showcase Wesley Snipes' talents in the martial arts. When Blade wields his samurai-style sword, silver stakes, and monster handgun, you can bet that a bunch of vampires will be reduced to CG dust in a hurry. The area in which the otherwise good film is weakest is its casting. Apart from Snipes as Blade and Kris Kristofferson as a suitably crusty Whistler with a profane remark for every occasion, the rest of the casting is somewhat uninspired. N'Bushe Wright just doesn't seem to fit the largely underdeveloped lead female role, and Stephen Dorff is unintentionally comedic as a scrawny vampire with aspirations of becoming a god. In listening to the commentary track, one gets the sense that Dorff also did not get along well with Snipes, and that could be the reason that their on-screen chemistry doesn't always work. Donal Logue adds some intentional comic relief, however, and Traci Lords makes a brief appearance in the introductory sequence before being reduced to dust by Blade. The special effects are above average except for a few poorly done green screen composites, and the disc contains some interesting special features, including a partially completed alternate ending. Sadly, New Line released the film and features on disc in one of those god-awful cases that are out of proportion with the keep cases that the rest of the civilized world uses. Again, though, this viewer is willing to overlook many of these shortcomings because of the way the movie so seamlessly meshes a believable vampire subculture with the origin story of a heroic yet flawed protagonist with ample action to satisfy most any horror/action guilty pleasure seekers. Definitely a bit of dark fun for those who can stand the profuse blood.

Summary: Bloody Hell
Review: This could have been a good, or even great, comic book adaptation. The beginning promises a lot, with appropriate dark visuals, a well-created and intriguing atmosphere and some well-done action sequences. Sadly, after the first minutes the plot gets derivative and predictable, wretching an interesting and original concept. This urban, futuristic and edgy look at vampires ends up being a letdown, consisting in sequences of random fight scenes with plenty of gore moments, loud music, cardboard characters and campy acting. This is unfortunate, since it has some creative visual elements, which aren`t enough to make it more than a bad b-movie that`s just way too ridiculous to take seriously. It`s not entertaining, either, not even in a so-bad-it's-good-way, so the disappointment is even bigger. Innocuous.

Summary: I'm not British but I still think this was BLOODY AWSOME!
Review: This movie combines all the best qualities from horror and action films! You got the gore of a slasher film and the action of the matrix (without all of the overdone camera pauses). Theres also the great burning of an incredibly obese vampire. It'd looked like you could stick your head in its belly button!!! Just AWSOME!!!!

Review: This is the best. Movie was great. Wesley Snipes is the coolest Vampire Hunter in quite a spell. Can't wait for Blade 3. I am very excited to see that Triple HHH from WWE will be in it. Just in case you read this Triple HHH don't let your fans down.

Summary: Awesome adaptation
Review: Blade the film was awesome! Wesley Snipes rules! Seriously, this is a good action flick with a real story and doesn't fall into all the traps that most films based on comics usually fall into. Blade was so popular with die-hard fans, that at one point, Joss Weldon considered using the character on one of his episodes of another vampire killer, Buffy The Vampire Slayer (they DID create a character named D.W. Woods that was patterned after Blade). Back to the film, it is a great piece of work. After failing with Spawn, New Line redeemed itself with Blade!
