Summary: Aaaaahhh!!! ZOMBIES!!!
Review: A young boy joins a club, wich has only two bullies as the earlier members. When he discovers that the clubhouse is the crypt chamber on an old cemetery, he flees in fear. The two bullies quikly finds him along with an canister containing the horrendous gas that caused the events in the original.
The two bullies later return to take closer look on the barrel and of course they accidently release the toxic gas from the barrel. The dangerous fumes hits the graveyard and hell brakes loose. The corpses crawl out of their graves, hungry for BRAAAIINSSS!!! Soon the undead is all over the town and it's up to a group of survivours to find out how to make the living dead dead agiain. Wich is easier said than done since these zombies are more thougher and faster than regular zombies.

A really funny film. More humor than in the first one, and bringing back the actors from the original was true genius. I think this is the best of all three. Since the original was a bit more serious and part 3 wasn't very mutch of a ROTLD movie at all. So if you have good sense of humor and love horrorfilms with a touch of comedy, then I strongly recomend it. I loved it.

Summary: Review of ROTLD 2
Review: Gore-infested sequel to Dan O'Bannon's entertaining original is more or less a retread of the first film. Matthews and Karen return as bumbling grave-robbers who once again get chased by those brain-eating ghouls. This time around, they are really playing it for laughs. There are still elements of horror but the comedy is the star here.

The movie opens when the army once again loses a barrel of that top-secret chemical they have been trying to keep under wraps. A group of kids find it stashed away in the graveyard and play with it, resulting in the gas being released once again. Enter Ed (Karen) and Joey (Matthews), two less-than-genius theives who have come to the cemetary to steal jewelry from the tombs. When the dead awaken, it's trouble for everyone as the military quarantines the infected town and a group of panicky people run around, trying to find a way out.

"Return" is nowhere near as good as the original but it does have fun with its script. There are some lightly-hidden references to the first film as well as downright robbing of lines from its script but it's all in fun. It doesn't take such a ridicilous turn that we can't enjoy it (ala "C.H.U.D. II"). Philip Burns, in particular, as the boneheaded drunk Doc Mandel is really good. The film's leads Dana Ashbrook and Marsha Dietlin are a little too "vanilla" at times but Suzanne Snyder as Joey's foul-mouthed girlfriend is a definite plus. Genre fans may recognize Snyder from her role in another great cult film, "Killer Klowns From Outer Space". She is more energetic in this one though as she plays the bratty Brenda very well. She isn't quite a complete mean spirit but she is just snobby and self-centered enough that we enjoy hating her character.

What "Return 2" is missing in substance, it makes up for in gore. This one definetly goes for the juggular or should I say, skull, more than its predacessor. The original "Return" wasn't exactly a light film either but this one really plays out its bloodlust. If you hated the first movie, this won't make you a fan but those who loved it will certainly appreciate it. It stays true to the series without really offering too much new here and if you're expecting that, you will enjoy.

Summary: Great Classic
Review: I really think this is the best out of all the return of the living dead movies.
1.You get to see more zombies.
2.It is more entertaining ,and fun.
3.There is more gore.
The first one most of the zombies were covered in mud as with this one the movie has more better make up effects. Sure it is cheesy but that is what i like about. I am so glad this is finally coming out on dvd if you truly love zombie movies this is definately worth having in your collection because the just don't make fun, good or creative horror movies like this anymore.

Summary: Not as good as one.....but....
Review: I think this movie is a fine addition to the Return of the living dead saga. My only complaint is that this film still isn't available on DVD. With cult films starting to make a rise in the DVD market perhaps we'll get the ones we want.

The story followed the original a little too closely (almost a re-make for our two witless grave robbers), but I believe this creation was an attempt to work with what the original had to offer plus a larger budget. (if only slightly)

Hopefully we'll get a DVD release....and possibly a part four.

Answer to reviewer from Claxton,Tn:
This is not a sequel to Night of the Living Dead.....with that series you have.
Night of the Living Dead
Dawn of the Dead
Day of the Dead
...and someday Twilight of the Dead
(and yes.....severing the spinal cord/blow to the head was sufficient to destroy creatures)

With Return of the living dead its easy.
Return of the living dead 1,2,3
(the approach of destruction for Zombi's here was more realistic....for a movie anyway, lol....they couldn't be killed. After all they're already dead.)

Summary: Pure B-grade cheese
Review: The first Return of the Living Dead (thank God its finally on DVD) was an instant classic, and the filmakers of this sequel decided to throw any kind of seriousness out the door completely and offer up some laugh out loud zombified fun. Thom Matthews and James Karen return to their roles from the original, this time a few kids discover a broken cannister which soon leads to zombies taking over the entire town. As with the first film, these zombies aren't just stumbling around; they are fast, smart, and vicious, but the film itself isn't scary or even overly gory for the most part, its just intentionally funny (by the time the Michael Jackson "Thriller" zomie jumps in out of nowhere during the electricution scene at the end I was literally rolling around the floor laughing like an idiot), but horror fans looking to take this seriously will hate it. All in all, those looking for a horror/comedy with some brains (no pun intended) should be satisfied with this. Look for X-Files and Shocker alumnus Mitch Pileggi in a cameo.

Summary: Strill good even now.
Review: This movie may not have the same tone or feel of the first film but hey, its an 80's zombie gorefest complete with another slimy Trioxin zombie. This film gives the zombie epidemic more effect b/c it's not just limited to the graveyard and its surroundings.....these zombies reak havoc(albeit silly)on the city. The music in this one isnt as good as the original...no Cramps or 45 Grave this time. Not much else to say other than its a good zombie film. Not as good as the first but it still goes well with it. Hell, I thought the third one was decent and gory despite the love story...we need more zombie love stories..right? right?! Get this on dvd and enjoy until you too become (un)dead
