Rating: Summary: Don't listen to me, I'm weird Review: I didn't find this film very entertaining. I though it was boring and it had no suspense and it wasn't scary. I did however like the fact that it didn't include alot of sensless violence (although i DON'T mind that) so this is one you can watch with the kids. It may scare them, but it won't scare you. Since alot of other people liked this, I strongly recommend this film to you. I'm one of the few who didn't like it. So see it today.
Rating: Summary: Great family movie. Review: I first saw this movie on Cinemax in 1989 and then each year following that around Halloween they would show it again. I never get tired of it. It is scary in an old fashioned, spine tingling way, not a gross-out, gory movie. It also brings up issues that unfortunately all parents need to discuss with their children, about how not all adults can be trusted, not even in a beautiful, story-book small town. Also, a person doesn't have to look or act scary to be dangerous. I strongly recommend it to families with children age 8 and up. It may be too scary for the smaller ones.
Rating: Summary: underrated horror film Review: I forgot the title of his film and had been looking for years to rent it to show my students. It is understated--not over the top gory. It has a vaguely familiar premise; however, the acting is solid and the mystery is well-handled. This is an okay film for older pre-teens. Little ones (under 12) may be bothered by the hints of violence and terror. It is a good soild film. The cloak room scene I will never forget--nor the haunting little tune from the 20s.
Rating: Summary: Good, but not great Review: I had read many reviews about this movie, that it was the scariest movie ever made, and I had heard the same thing from friends. So I rented it. I watched it. I liked the movie, but it was not as scary as I thought it would be. It wasn't that great either. It is a good halloween movie and a good ghost story, but that is all. Rent it if there is nothing else worth watching at the rental.
Rating: Summary: Good, but not that scary Review: I had read many reviews about this movie, that it was the scariest movie ever made, and I had heard the same thing from friends. So I rented it. I watched it. I liked the movie. I liked it because it was a good ghost story, and it had good actors in it, and it had a good plot. It also reminded me of "Poltergiest", and it had a kind of a Speilberg touch. It just wasn't that scary. It gave you chills, though. Good to watch on halloween! NOT FOR KIDS. Images of a child in danger might scare them and give them nightmares.
Rating: Summary: Recapture the spookiness of Halloween from your youth! Review: I have throughlly enjoyed this movie for years. It is not a high tech thriller nor are there a lot of over done special effects. What this movie does offer is a good spooky Halloween movie. The story is told in retrospect and takes you back to the days of your youth. Remember being all excited at school on Halloween day? How you couldn't wait to get home to go out Trick or Treating? Remember the spooky ghost stories your friends always told you? That is what this movie makes you feel. For me it rates right up there with "The Christmas Story". But where a "The Christmas Story" is funny, this movie is spooky, eerie and mysterious. Watch and Enjoy.

Rating: Summary: A Good Old Fashioned Ghost Story Review: I really loved this movie. It takes place in one of my favorite settings-a small American town.A lovely setting. I enjoyed the close knit family aspects. The love the widowed father has for his two sons is palpable. And what a delight the boys' grandparents are! The scenes in the school cloakroom are the most chilling I've ever seen in a movie! I own this movie on VHS and every time I watch it, The darn thing never fails to give me goosebumps! It actually took me several times of watching The Lady in White before I realized that the singer singing the wonderful old tune, Did You Ever See A Dream Walking? was none other than my beloved Bing Crosby! A very young Bing!( see my review of It's Easy To Remember, a great collection of Bing's early songs ) In fact, every time I hear that song I get goosebumps! It's not a scary song, but I assosiate it with this thrilling movie. I really have to say that there is not one single thing about the film that I don't love. Even the terrible parts that make me cry-even still-I wouldn't do without. Every scene plays an important part in making this film what it is-a completely charming, yet very frightening piece of work. I don't recommend missing THIS movie if you love ghost stories, family values, Americana, and wonderful acting. Thank you. Alice B. Kane
Rating: Summary: Loved the ending...talk about a twist. Review: I saw this movie as a little girl; it was the first horror film that I was allowed to watch. I never knew that a so-called scary movie could scare you and make you cry at the same time. This truly touching story hits close to home and makes you wonder who in this world is really trustworthy after all.
Rating: Summary: One of the Best Review: I watch this one often. Halloween is my favorite season of them all, and this film captures the essence of everything that Halloween is about. It has the mystery, the suspence, and the treats that most films of the horror or ghost story genre don't carry with them. Minus the gore, minus a lot of the language, Lady in White is a classic in my book!
