Summary: Scary......To the Fifth Power
Review: Why the fifth power you ask? Because that's how many times I threw up after watching it. This is the only movie that's ever made me physically ill, and quite frankly, I didn't mind at all. It's totally awesome.

Summary: Silly. Silly. Silly.
Review: A modestly entertaining, well-made thriller that has somehow managed to tap into the collective unconscious in a way that few movies ever have.

I found the film to be occasionally disturbing (never once actually frightening) and generally convinced that it had something serious to say about GOOD and EVIL. What exactly it is that the film has to say about GOOD and EVIL is never exactly made clear. The anniversary edition of the DVD features interviews with William Friedkin and William Peter Blatty, who speak in hushed tones about the conception/execution of the film, as if they were discussing the creation of some deep and profound work of art. However, all of their best intentions/pretensions cannot disguise the fact that The Exorcist is, in the final analysis, a deeply silly little horror movie, with nothing really important or especially very interesting to say.

Still, there are a couple of good jolts, though...

Summary: Be you 15 or 50, this movie WILL scare the HELL out of you.
Review: I saw this movie for the first time when I was 13. It scared me then. I recently saw the newly released version. I am now almost 30, and it still brought back memories of that Saturday night, at midnight, with every light turned off in the house, watching this movie. I still felt the cold fingers of fear sliding up and down my neck. What more can I say? This is without a doubt, the scariest movie EVER MADE. If you are a first time viewer, watch this movie with EVERY LIGHT ON in the house, and EVERY LIGHT ON in your brain. And above all...ENJOY!

Summary: One of the best realistic horror films.
Review: It`s been 27 years, after The Exorcist came out turn to be one of the most influential films came out in that time. It`s still terrifying as ever. The film has creepy score and some strong sound effects are scary and imaginative. Fine Performance by Jason Miller, who played Father Damien Karris is one of the highlights of the film. Ellen Burstyn, Max Von Sydow, Linda Blair, Lee J. Cobb are also give good performances in this classic. Director William Friedkin did a great job making film work, thanks to William Peter Blatty. Blatty wrote the book and did also screenplay and producing the film. Make-up artist-Dick Smith did fantasic job on Max Von sydow, making him looking older and of course Linda Blair look the film is scary as hell and is well done for the different faces of the film. Her voice-over are done by Mercedes Mc Cambridge give a edge on the possession of Blair character on this shocker.

DVD Special Edition is quite good, the picture is swell and sound is impresssive for the Digitally Remastered version. Interesting audio commentary by Director Friedkin, is little hard to follow, because when he talks, also hear the film soundtrack and the another is from Novelist also Screenwriter-William Peter Blatty, which about is about one hour, His commentary is very good and fun to listin about his comments on the film. Blatty said in his commentary that Friedkin did his original cut, before the film came out. Which it runs 20 minutes longer than the Theatrical version but he said Friedkin version is a Masterpiece. That is one of the good points of his commmentary. In the end of his commentary, Now comes the Sound Effects for the Exorcist from Blair, only some of it but Most of it from Mc Cambridge, which is impressive to listen, is also at times funny to hear. 3 Theatrical Tralier and One for the sequel, which i ever seen yet, expect the third film. 6 T.V. Spots, which one of them is very funny. Good 75 minute documentary, included some of the deleted shots and The spider walk scene is impressive but we can they fast forward the frame, try to make it work. Also the original ending which is good, is a little hard to listen with the sound effects. Now Friedkin and Blatty are glad with thier early test screening this year for thier re-relase from the Director Original Cut is going to be out in the fall 2000 and Re-fixed the spider walk scene, making it sharpter and better and the Original Ending will be much more clearer dialogue. This version is coming soon, will play very different from the original theatrical relase. Grade:A.

Summary: Well done but incomplete
Review: It is unfortunate that, in some circles (including on the Internet!), this powerful film is referred to as if it were "camp" because the special effects cannot match those possible twenty years later. Then again, right from the beginning the Exorcist suffered from being considered merely a horror film.

I would recommend that one read the book in advance, because it has far more dimensions and character development than the film version. Basic elements of the story are excised - for example, one would wonder why on earth Regan was possessed, where it logically develops in the book. Karras's struggle with faith (and science), Kinderman's human compassion and its conflict with certain elements of his profession, silent Karl's hidden dilemma, the unanswered question of why Regan was drawn to the occult, and, particularly, exorcist Merrin's own intense struggles are among the reasons for the excellence of the book, and one has only a hint of this in the film.

The anniversary edition shows us a scene (which was cut from the final print) of the conversation Merrin and Karras have regarding why there would be demonic possession. It is unfortunate that this brief but vital clip was omitted.

Ellen Burstyn gives a fine performance, but the characterisation loses much of Chris MacNeil's vulnerability and personal questioning so vital to the novel's development.

It remains an engrossing film, but I believe viewers would not have minded an extra hour's length which could have allowed the film version to approach the book's excellence.

Summary: Chickie
Review: This is the most terrifying movie to me. I was to young when it came out, so my mom wouldn't let me see it. Once I did see it, I had to thank my mom, because I would have had nightmares, just looking at the picture that was in the movie add gave me a nightmare, because they showed Reagan's face. I saw it on tape when I was old enough and I don't want to watch it again. I've tried to watch it, but I can't. It still terrifies me to this day. I'm glad I didn't see it on the big screen either. I can not stand it when they show Regan's picture on the TV, showing scenes from the movie, I have to look away. I can not see how they can compare The Blair Witch to The Exorcist! What a joke!

Summary: Scary stuff
Review: I am a big film buff, and of all the multitude of movies I've watched this is the only movie that has ever truly frightened me. I saw it as a teenager and for weeks I dreaded going to bed for fear of being thrown into convulsions due to it's Satanic gyrations as in the movie. The Exorcist is scary and disturbing, even by todays standards, and still a classic.

Summary: 25 Years, and Still On Top
Review: In 25 years of film, we as a human race have yet to equal the horrific and shocking vision that is The Exorcist. Some friends of mine, grown men, refuse to view this movie due to its graphic intensity! It matters not how worldly you are, seeing a 12-year-old girl masturbate violently with a silver crucifix will cost you a few sanity points!

The director says in the commentary, "I want to get a reaction." Yes, even in these days of jaded audiences and tasteless critics, the reaction will be there.
