Summary: Try It; You'll Like It!
Review: Even though this isn't usually my favorite type of movie, I was asked by a friend to watch it with him and was more than pleasantly surprised at how good The Doorway really is. The characters were three-dimensional and did not seem to be put into the action for the sole purpose of being killed. The frightening moments made me jump, but the black humor made the entire movie watching experience an enjoyable one. I just don't plan to go into the basement alone for quite some time! Condsidering the usually restrictrive nature of the genre, Mr. Druxman has created a surprisingly intelligent horror film that expects the audience to have a higher than room-temperature IQ.

Summary: Surprized
Review: If you like campy, independant horror flicks, you should enjoy this one. Not too cheesy and not too serious- The acting is pretty good and the special effects are decent. The storyline is fairly well-developed for a movie of this nature. I thought the ending was very good. Also reccommended: The Seven Doors of Death and The Dead Hate The Living.

Summary: Low Budget Campy Horror
Review: If you're into cheesy horror films, then this movie is a good rental. If anything, you'll get your money's worth sitting around with a group of friends and laughing at the cheesiness of it all.

Perhaps the only two good things about the film were Chris Harmony's acting and the gratuitous nudity!

Summary: Cheesy Friday Night Fun!
Review: Michael Druxman has created a great ride for his audience with "The Doorway." A great thriller mixed with black comedy. A welcome rebirth of the scary films of the 1950's. Don Maloney brought a comedic break to this supernatural thriller which made for a great balance. I found "The Doorway" to be a very entertaining independent film. It's a great addition to my existing film collection.

Summary: Becomes a little monotonous in the middle....
Review: OK, agreed, I've seen worse.

It is very typical horror movie, when everyone should be running for the door they're gathering their things - or going to the cellar. When they went back into the house for the third time I was a little annoyed.

It wasn't that bad of a movie; however, they cheezed out at the end when they put words up telling what happened to the leftover characters...except I'm not sure if anyone really cared...I know I didn't.

Summary: IRISH FRISKY
Review: Set in Ireland of all places, THE DOORWAY is a howler, but at the same time, it's pretty bad. Roy Scheider must have been on vacation and decided he needed some extra spending money. Scheider's worst performance, more than likely. But he's not in it too much, and that leaves us with the likes of Don Maloney, Lauren Woodland, Christian Harmony and the howlingly funny Teresa DePriest. Teresa plays a double role, first as the demon Elizabeth Van Buren, and then her psychic descendant Lydia. Watching dePriest make demon faces while taunting Maloney is hilarious. She looks like a little baby trying to make funny faces at mommy, it's very very funny.
The script is not important; the sex scenes are obviously used as padding, and are about as erotic as celery and onions. Rent this one, but don't spend good money on it, though!
