Summary: Clive Barker is the god of horror.!
Review: Clive Barker makes his movie debut with what is know known as one of the best known horror movies of all time and also introduces a horror movie icon that would make freddy and jason run for cover. The story involves a couple moving into an old british house which happens to be housing an escapee from hell named Frank, The new owners of the house just happens to be Franks brother and Sister in law, who use to be Franks lover. An accident occurs in the house after Franks brother Cuts his hand and spills blood through the cracks in the floor. The blood runs on Franks remains and somehow resurrects his corpse allowing his soul to escape from hell. Frank then inlists the help of His former lover to lure victims into his hiding spot in the attic and kill them so that he can feed on their dead bodies and grow stronger. But all hell breaks lose when Pinhead and the Cinobytes are released from the puzzle box by Franks neice Kirsten. And they arent going back without extracting bloody revenge on Frank for escaping them. A great horror movie with very eerie atmosphere, but can be stomach turning to someone with a weak stomach. Rated R for Graphic Violence, Sexuality and Language

Review: the first hellraiser is different to the others firstly because it is more staged about the story, fred is a wickard actor who was curserd by a puzzle and ended up in hell , when blood is dropped on the floor fred is out of hell and is turned to a stupid skelton, he then needs help to become more stronger, he gets help from his ex lover, but all hell hapens when pinhead needs him back in hell. a quite intresting film.

Review: this is one of those 80s horror movies. you know the one with those ok spical effects. weel this one has good spical effects. its about a man who buys a box from a man for pleaser. when he slovls the box thes chines came out from nowhaer and start to riep him apart. his mame was frank cotton.then his brother moves in to the house whit her wife when she go upsatris into the attic she remebers larrys brother frank makeing love to her before her wedding whit larry. then larry comes into the room whit a cut dripping bloob into the room what thay dont nocies is that the blood goes in to the floor boads of the house. when she goes into the room she sees frank half fromed she gets men so she can kill them for him. on his thierd victem kiste who is larrays dagher she sees him killing that guy she get ayay whit the box he sloved which made him that have no skin[that why larrays whif kills people for him]she fanits after she get ayay feom him she wakes in a hosble and sloves the box and the people that kill him come for her the cenobits. it a graet horror movie whit goog effects.

Summary: No Time For Arguments!
Review: "I've seen the future of horror...his name is Clive Barker". This it stands together with the credits on the back of my copy. It's a quote from Stephen King, and perhaps he's right. In this movie, Clive Barker shows us his vision of HELL...and it's not pleasent. All horror fans has, if not seen the movies, heard of Hellraiser and Pinhead. And the series is well worth your time. This first one contains gore and more gore. If you have a bad stomach...stay away, but if you're looking for a frightning movie to scare the s**t out of you...then you're welcome into Clive Barker's HELLRAISER!

Summary: "An old family home holds untold mysteries..."
Review: The first Hellraiser movie's biggest fault as well as its greatest boon is that it, basically, is what it is. It is not just a typical early-80s slasher movie, but rather, as Barker puts it, a haunted house story. More than that, it is a (for the most part) very faithful adaptation of the novella on which it is based.

The basic plot...Frank, erotic adventurer extraordinare, has aquired, take your pick, the puzzle box, the Lamont Configuration, or Lamarchand's Box. Solving it, he opens a way for the Cenobites to come and take him off to hell. Soon Larry and his wide Julia move into the house where he's been killed. Moving a matress up the stairs, Larry cuts his hand, and his blood dripping on the floor where Frank was killed is enough to allow him to escape from Hell, albeit in a fleshless, skinless form. Enter Julia. She finds out what's happened, and, having promised to do "anything at all" for Frank when they were lovers, soon starts bringing him fresh meat from the local bar. Unfortunately, though Frank gets his flesh back, his skin won't seem to come, so he decides he needs to steal someone elses. Then Kirsty, Larry's daughter, finds the puzzle box, and solves both puzzles. Accidentaly calling the Cenobites, she offers them Frank back if they don't take her. And from there the story winds to its dramatic conclusion.

While this film is dark, somewhat repetitive and overlong, and at points very unintentionally silly, we get to so Andrew Robinson acting long before he becomes DS9s Garak. But the real show-stoppers are the Cenobites. Scary because of their inhumanity, they're full of catchy phrases about pain and suffering and the tearing of souls. They're relentless and unstoppable, but they're not out for murder and mayhem; they play by the rules.

Don't start this movie thinking you're going to get a big action movie, or a slasher flick. You'll be very dissapointed by the mediocre movie. But if you want an above-average haunting with some good gore, good dialogue, and good pyschological terror, this ones for you.

Review: Hellraiser, Clive Barkers directorial debut, is a surprisingly inteligent horror movie. The erotic parts certainly add to the deprivation; in fact, one could say that Barker has created a movie where one would probably also have tried to get into the realm of the cenobytes.

Summary: Horrorfying Cineamatic Cenobites!
Review: This movie puts meaning to the rating NC-17. This film is full of gore, gore, and even more gore. Clive really knows what he is doing. This is how pinhead got his start. It's full of suprises and violent killings. The acting is wonderful as well as the make-up on the Cenobites. You have to have this one in you're collection! It brings a new meaning to puzzles and chains. This is followed by a better sequel which I belive is equal if not better than the original. BUY IT RIGHT NOW.

Summary: A classic of the genre.
Review: In 1986, Clive Barker wrote a novella called "The Hellbound Heart" which was and by all means still is a brilliant example that in a space of roundabout 160 pages a skilled horrormaster like Barker can convey horror and suspense enough to shock and scare the reader. Barker is the same one who says that there are no new stories, only new ways to tell. It is a refreshingly original story rich in gruesome details. Then, in 1987, Barker himself got the opportunity to adapt his novel to the screen. This film immortalized the legendary villain called Pinhead, played by Doug Bradley. The film is just as gruesome as the book if not more. I'd say that I had no doubt the film would be faithful to the novel because after all it was the novel's writer who was directing the movie in the first place! I just rewatched Hellraiser last night and I reread the book today. It's short enough to be read in one sitting...and compelling enough, too! To me this film is a contemporary masterpiece of the genre. It's not only an excuse to show flayed, skinned glistening on screen, no. Unlike what others say, there is a story here too, and to me at least, it's a very original one. Andrew Robinson, Claire Higgins and Ashley Laurence give very good performances to back up this film...but the real heros behind it are director/writer Clive Barker and the special effects creator, Bob Keene. The scene with Frank's reanimation has got to be one of the grossest and most stunning effects I've ever seen. And also, considering this film only cost one million dollars to do, I think that that price was a bargain. Congratulations to all!

Summary: This may be one of the most uncomfortable horror films ever!
Review: Wow this movie gives you a cold, damp feel that will never be forgotten by any who see it's horrific power. Pinhead's first venture is a story mostly about a man who'se escaped the cenobites, lead by Pinhead, and is now back on Earth. But there's one little problem. He's got no skin! His lover, who is also his sister-in-law (Star Wars-ish stuff going on here) lures men into a creepy-as-hell room and leaves them to the skinless Frank, who then consumes their skin to become a member of the SGOTHR : Skin Group Of The Human Race. Throughout the film we get infamous skinless rats, gross-out gratuitous bugs and enough gore to please! Basically Gone With The Wind Goes To Hell. NOTE : WE'LL TEAR YOU'RE SOUL APART!

Review: Although much of the technical work on this film leaves much to be desired, the story itself is the epitome of originallity. What made this movie even more special was the fact that Barker initially wrote the book (The Hellbound Heart), then directed the film himself--although, Bernard Rose did quite a job on Candyman. The imagery is enough alone to scare you right out of your flesh. Of course, you won't find any cheap thrills or scare tactics here. This movie will make you wince and squirm all the way through.
