Summary: What The...?
Review: Where did it all go wrong? I dunno...I was really looking forward to this film seeing that I loved the original and it creeped the bejeezus out of me...So, the 2nd one has to be at least a little bit good, right right? Wrong-o! Man, I tell you, this has got to be not only one of the worst horror films of all time, but yes, one of the worst films in general of all time too. Yup, it's that bad. Where's the scares? Where's the atmosphere? ... I'd even settle for ...jumps...But where are they? Well they're not in this ridiculous excuse for a moving picture. I'm convinced that this is some guy's idea of a practical joke...Trying to make a sequel in the real world following in the footsteps of the characters of the first movie...So we're like watching a movie in a movie ... Just go watch the first one again...

Summary: The worst sequel I have ever seen
Review: This movie was just horrible! None of the horror and frights of the original, just a bunch of weird, mind-distorting imagery. I didn't get it.

I intensely disliked the way the movie harped on the strictly fictional quality of its predecessor. The greatest beauty of THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT lay in its simulated real-life qualities. BLAIR WITCH 2 completely debunked this aspect of the first movie, which I think stole a lot of the first movie's thunder.

Summary: Great Movie. Great Sequel.
Review: Reviewer "Timotee" stated, "This sequel to the horrible "The Blair Witch Project" outdoes the original by being even more horrible." I am sorry you felt this way about either movie, Timotee. I disagree. In my opionion, Blair Witch 2 was a fantastic movie. It was better then the original, a lot creepier, and a better ending.

Atleast the movie went in a different direction than the original did. I definitely liked the fact that it wasn't about 3 filmakers running in the woods with shakey cameras. Also, Reviewer "Timotee" again stated that he did NOT even finish the movie. He claims he turned the movie off at the half way point. How can you review AND judge a movie, without have seeing the whole thing? You tell me.

Anyways, BW2 is a great movie. I would definitely recommend it!

Summary: Good Idea, but bad end result.
Review: I guess maybe the whole thing worked in theory, but when they fleshed this movie out, the end result was a failure. It seemed as though the writers and director went for the whole "watch the movie and draw your own conclusions about what was really happened" angle, like in the movie "Total Recall." One conclusion would be that the group had fed off of each other's obsessions with the "legend," and some sort of mass hysteria caused them to commit murders which they later blocked out of their memory. The other conclusion, of course, is that the Blair Witch possessed Tristen and manipulated the minds of the group and caused other supernatural stuff to happen. The problem is that no matter which scenario you choose to accept as the explanation for what was really going on, the end result is still the same, a bad friggin' movie with...poor acting and characters you could [care] less about. I mean really, the guy who plays the role of the detective has to be, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the worst actor in the United States of America, bar none! He looked and sounded like he came right out of an episode of Scooby Doo or something. And don't even get me started on Erica's character. The only one who didn't completely overdue her role was Kim Director (and Kurt Loder). I hope she's the only one to go on and have a career from this. I thought the hidden images thing in the DVD was kind of tacky, but it did give the viewer something extra to do while watching the film (because god knows the acting's not going to hold your interest)as well as give it some replay value. I didn't much care that it didn't have anything to do with the first Blair Witch movie, other than make reference to it as a movie. In fact, I'm glad it didn't, because it would have tainted it by association. I gave it 2 stars because I can see what they were trying to do with it, and if they had pulled it off it would have been a pretty darn good addition to the franchise. But Sadly, poor dialogue and even worse acting ruined this objective. I would rather have seen a movie about what happened to Ellie, set in the 18th century (or whatever century she supposedly lived) and then another sequel (or prequel) about Rustin Parr. That would have made a good trilogy.

Summary: "Book of Goofs - Blair Witch 2"
Review: This sequel to the horrible "The Blair Witch Project" outdoes the original by being even more horrible. The dreadful story, the repulsive acting and the revolting direction are ingredients to pure waste. I turned off "Book of Shadows - Blair Witch 2" before it hit the halfway mark. It was that terrible. The critics really hated this movie and I actually agree with them. Avoid at all costs and buy something funny like a Steven Seagal movie.

Summary: Book of Shadows makes for a good horror movie.
Review: This movie is great, bottom line. And Im not afraid to say it, I think its better than the first! And I'll tell you why. I did like the first movie when it came out but after a while it soon lost its luster. Now, the second movie plays off more like a good 'ol fasion 80's horror movie. But the movie itself is better on alot of levels. For one, its got a kind of creepy over tone to the whole film. Everybody is on edge and the whole "air" of the movie is infested with uneasy attitude. Also, there's tons of gore galore and what would be a great horror movie if there wasn't a bucket of blood thrown around? Face the facts people. When everyone watches horror movies they want creepy acting, tons of gore and uneasy camera shots. BOOK OF SHADOWS makes for a creepy movie, the stuff nightmares are made of. Think to yourself when you watch it. Is all this really happening or is everyone just crazy? But when it comes down to the true morbid fact at the end of the film, tons of people end up dead. Fantastic movie!

Summary: VERY hit-and-miss; creepy but bad direction & characters
Review: While "Book of Shadows" was probably doomed to fall short of the huge success of its predecessor, it could have been a much better sequel nonetheless. With the incredible hype and promotion and buzz behind Part 1 having faded to virtual nonexistence by the time "Book of Shadows" came out, the William Castle-style approach of the original isn't there, so all that was left was making a good horror movie, which this isn't really.

The story does try for the reality feel by making itself outside of the first movie- the first movie was just a movie, get it? (ala "Wes Craven's New Nightmare") The atmosphere does veer to quite creepy and intense at times but it is very hit-and-miss, with uninventive and dull direction from the director, who was a documentary filmmaker before this, and, about equally as bad, the characters are absolutely atrocious. Within the first 20 minutes I was thoroughly convinced that I didn't care if, and would even be glad to see, the Blair Witch get these people. The shady tour-guide, a hard-drinking (well I guess they're all hard-drinking) make-up-caked goth, a young woman that wants to abort her baby, a goofy Wiccan, etc. With such awful characters, who cares?

Overall, the moments of freakiness and intensity are vastly outweighed by the boring direction and obnoxious characters that drag the film relentlessly down.

Summary: Better then the first....
Review: I've read over some of the bad reviews of this movie and personaly after seeing the first one never gave this one a chance until it came out on pay tv. There were a couple good scenes in the first movie however I found myself feeling betrayed by all the hype and not really scared at all. The strongest feeling I recall from #1 was wanting to punch that whiney girl in the face while she was crying in the camera. This movie however I found a few chilly scenes a nice camp fire bloodbath and true to any demonic/devil worship/witch craft....the infomous playing of the tape backwards scene....I prefer this over the first one any day as the only enjoyment I got out of number one was hanging stick men in the woods and then tricking friends to come out there with me....

Summary: Disappointing at the end!
Review: Although it begins with nice prospects and great soundtrack, while the plot becoms even more complicated and confusing and makes the audience expect a unique ending...it stops and you are left wandering what really happened, without being given enough evidence to examine it! Again it is realistic enough and basically makes you question your IQ sometimes! Generally a good movie, especially for goth fans! It has its good and its bad side, which just don't differ so much!
