Summary: Pretty Good!
Review: I must admit I wouldn't have seen this movie if Wes Craven's name wasnt on the box, but I was shocked at how good it was, and I'm glad I rented it. Now I own it. It's pretty good, with great makeup and it's scary. The acting is also pretty good. It should be a classic! Go rent it, and if ya like it buy it!

Summary: I was shocked at how good this film was!
Review: Well, folks, let's face it -- horror isn't what it used to be. And a movie HAS to be bad if they need to attach a big-time director's name to it -- but THE WISHMASTER tottaly surprised me.

The plot isn't a whole hell of a lot to write home about (but any writer in the world can tell you that good plots are becoming more and more difficult to create), but the acting, special effects, and basic storyline (which flows quit well despite a somewhat-weak premise) are.

I love this movie because it isn't too comical (but one scene had me on the floor!), and it completely entertains you.

An excellent way to spend a couple of hours!

Summary: Great 90's monster/horror/flick.
Review: Umm, they're in 9th century Arabia - what kind of "English" (modern or otherwise) should they speak? Highly entertaining, although not _too_ original. Some nice wish-twists, and Divoff's screentime as the Djinn's human incarnation is kept to a minimum (unlike the sequel). Tammy Lauren is an interesting heroine, and Jenny O'Hara overacts like crazy. There's no nudity (surprisingly) but lots of gore. If nothing else, have fun looking for all the horror actors in minor roles, and the references to various fantasy writers (Beaumont, Finney, Lieber).

Summary: Number two worst film of Wes Craven's carrer
Review: In the scene that takes place centurys & centurys ago the characters talk with modern english instead of the type of english from long ago. Avoid it.

Summary: Surprisingly good!
Review: I had never heard of this movie until my girlfriend brought it home. She picks the worst movies so I was prepared for the worst, but this was a damn good horror story. Good idea, good plot, good acting.

Summary: THE ABSOLUTE BEST HORROR MOVIE THERE IS!
Review: There are few horror movies I haven't seen, but most of them always dissappoint me because they try to be humerous or just show that the killer or monster is able to do anything it wants. Wishmaster, however, was great because it included little to no jokes, and I think that this is good because in a horror movie, I want to be scared, if I want to get a laugh I can watch a comedy. Also, the idea that the djinn can't do anything until asked to is just wonderful. Going on, the movie is pretty gory which would attract horror fans, and at some parts very non-gory which would please people who are rather watching suspense. Lastly, and I might be the only one that thinks so, the djinn isn't just 'cool' in both forms, I think he's absolutely attractive in both forms. To just refer to his human disguise, Nathaniel, there is no doubt that his wolfish smile and good looks are obvious. The djinn itself is just like a slightly evil version of Nathaniel, but he's still cool-and-great looking. I also think the djinn's creepy voice is incredible, and I like it how he speaks in a bit of an ancient, slow, almost british english, while near the end he's learned a bit and is a bit more slang-like, which gives him a cool edge. I absolutely love this because the old concept of 'Be careful what you wish for' is touched upon. In my humble opinion, Wishmaster is the best horror movie there is, and anybody who thinks I'm crazy and thinks it's not so, I will be happy to lead a flame war, because I will be defending the Djinn and Nathaniel to my last breath! "...if you can't beat 'em, burn 'em, baby!" (from the final shodown scene)

Summary: BRILLIANT
Review: The BEST horror movie I have ever see

Summary: GOOD FILM WASTED BY TERRIBLE DIRECTION
Review: A good script and decent acting is totally bogged down by pathetic production values and terrible direction. The camera angles were supposed to be creepy in some scenes but they were just plain annoying. Let's hope the sequel is better.

Summary: NOT "I dream of Jeanie"
Review: When freed from his mystic prison by an unwitting lady, a genie with attitude begins granting wishes in the style of a monkey fist (wish for a new car, wife and kids blow up in the old one and insurance man shows up--that sort of thing). Definately a different take on the legend of the genie than I'd seen before.

This is a fun movie. The acting is decent, the story's pretty well thought out, the bad guy has rules under which he can and cannot operate and pretty much sticks to them. The special effects are pretty neat in some spots and not so much in others, but overall, "Wishmaster" is one of Wes Craven's better efforts at original horror (if there is such a thing).

Don't be afraid that this is the same type of cheap and silly crap that dominates the direct-to-video market; "Wishmaster" is actually better than most of the horror films that enjoy wide release. Not as inventive as the first "Nightmare on Elm Street" and not as hip as "Scream", "Wishmaster" is a decent watch and definately recommended to horror buffs looking for another invincible source of ultimate evil that can only be stopped from destroying the world by a young lady who looks like she desperately needs to eat a sandwich.
