Rating: Summary: Not a fan of vampire movies, but.... Review: I enjoyed this movie. It had a great story, some good blood and gore, a great atomsphere, and its just a great horror movie. Im not a fan of mainstream horror, and most of what I like is eurohorror or zombie movies, but this is an exception in my list of favorites. The Renfield character is very dark and mysterious, and uses his black cessna skymaster to fly into desolite airports and slaughter whoever happens to be around. Thats just a great story. The Night Flier moves fast, has likeable characters, characters you love to hate, good effects, and keeps you hooked on watching it. If youre a fan of horror, go out and rent or buy this movie. You wont regret it.
Rating: Summary: Good vampire story, could've used more character building Review: I have also read the short story by Stephen King. I enjoyed the movie very much because it went into a little more detail about some of the events and characters in the story. I would've liked to have seen more detail in the character's history, but since this was based on a short story I think they did a pretty good job.
Rating: Summary: I own this movie. Review: I like this movie. I think it is scary. Stephen king is a good horror master and I hope he continues to do more horror movies. The DVD is good It tells about the movie and cast and has a trailer and a full and wide screen side. Buy it.
Rating: Summary: Ignore the tards, this movie kicks Review: I never pay attention to reviews and it's always been to my betterment. If you're an avid fan of the phenomena that is the vampire genre you'll love this movie. I've got vampire nite in my crypt where I play The Night Flier, (Original) Dracula, Shadow Of The Vampire, Nosferatu The Vampyre (Werner Herzog), among other classics and this movie truly does the niche justice. I can't get enough of it. Miguel Ferrer does such a terrific job in it as he has all of his other Stephen King parts. If you've seen 'The Stand' you know what I'm talking about. The guy's an "A" class actor without being pretentious. I d/l alot of movies off of the internet and this is definitely a purchase. It doesn't have anything special in the way of extras which is a let down, but it's a solid flick. But then again, I really like that second Blair Witch movie that everyone hates so much. That was another d/l'd movie that I ended up purchasing because I watch it so much. Bottomline: If you're a fan of the genre, this movie is a good purchase for around $15 or less. Rock on Houston and props out to my man Johnny V and the Muddster.
Rating: Summary: SUCK MY BLOOD, PLEASE! Review: I read one of the reviews here and it siad this one was true to Kings vision. What?! DID you even read the story! Go back to nightmare and dreamscapes and try again. Not that the film was a complete dog. On its own, it had some merit but basically, it took one of kings weaker stories to begin with and tried to do some justice. Even if it had been 'true to kings vision', it still would be a poor film. Migeul Ferrer was excellent as the reporter on the nightfliers tail. He played a scumbag to the nines (he seems to have that role down pat, remember robocop?). Some pretty girl plays some pretty girl who is also trying to catch the flier in action. So ferrer keeps going after the flier, who keeps telling him to get lost. Even at the end, he tells him to scram. Come on..wheres the resolution to the story here! Wheres the buildup to the showdown. I was really hoping the flier would tear some strips of miguel ferrer's hide but he just got all preachy with him when the twain finally met. We get a lot of after the fact kills. They used a whole lot of karo syrop painting the walls in this one. Im not a big after the fact kind of person. I like to see the matter splatter so this was a letdown for me. Use your imagination you say!? HEy, if i wanted to do that, i'd go back and read the story again. Lets see the slop fly, yo! I said yo! This, trying to be more of a thriller type horror movie decides to give us precious little nudity. We do get an elderly lady in a nightgown. Boooo! that doesnt cut it here.
Rating: Summary: This has got to be the best Steven King movie I saw. Review: I realllly like horror movies. I have seen a lot of Steven King movies. But this is one of my favorites! There is not a moment when there is no action. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through. It also has some mystery in it too. It's a MUST see!
Rating: Summary: A great, edge-of-your-seat horror flick from the King! Review: I really liked this movie. I thought at first it'd be a corny, low-budget horror flick, but that all changed after I started watching it. This movie kept your suspense right up to the end while feeding fairly generous helpings of blood and gore along the way. The ending is fantastic, and it surprises you as well. As for the actual horror scare-factor, nothing really "horror" comes up until the last 30 minutes, but oh BOY does it get "oh-my-word-I-have-to-turn-this-off" scary! The only thing I didn't like about this movie was... well the showed the Night Flier's face on the cover!! Luckily I saw it on Sci-Fi channel before I got a look at the cover, but it ruins it a bit because you already know what the thing looks like before you see the movie. But it doesn't matter; it's a great movie overall :-)
Rating: Summary: read the short story-it's much better Review: I think that the text version (Nightmares and Dreamscapes) was much better than the movie adaptation. This could be said of most of Stephen King's stories with the exception of Salem's Lot (mini series version)and The Shining (mini series version). I think that when Stephen King's stories are adapted to screen they loose the true "grit" of the original story. This is probably because King is such an excellent story teller and to do justice to his genious the movies would ALL have to be in a mini-series format. For example, the mini-series version of The Shining was much better than the original movie made in 1980- it was much more "true" to the book. Same could be said of Salem's Lot. Stephen King is far too talented to "sell out" on a peice of trash like The Night Flier. Stick to the books and mini series!
Rating: Summary: ONE OF STEPHEN KING'S BEST.... Review: I THOUGHT THIS MOVIE WAS EXCELLENT. IT'S ABOUT A COLD-HEARTED REPORTER WHO GOES CHASING AFTER A VAMPIRE WHO KILLS PEOPLE WHEN HE LANDS HIS PLANE AND LEAVES BEHIND BLOOD AND BODIES ALL OVER THE PLACE. SOUNDS GORY, BUT IT REALLY ISN'T. IT'S NICELY DONE, AS FAR AS DEATH SCENES CAN BE. IT'S NOT DONE WHERE IT WOULD MAKE YOU SICK BUT THAT YOU KNOW PEOPLE WERE MURDERED. THE VAMPIRE KNOWS ALL ABOUT THE REPORTER AND KINDA OF TAUNTS HIM. THE REPORTER HAS CLOSE CALLS WITH THIS KILLER, NARROWLY MISSING HIM AT EACH STOP. THE ENDING IS GOOD. AND THIS CAST MIXES WELL TOGETHER AND BRINGS THE STORY TO LIFE. IF YOUR A STEPHEN KING FAN, I DEFINETLY WOULD RECOMMEND THIS ONE.
Rating: Summary: a litte gory and bloody. Review: i was a little disappointed in this one. lots of blood and gore, great is you like that kind of stuff. a little different than what i am used to with stephen king.
