Summary: Alien really rocks!
Review: Alien is a very good movie. Very gory, though, I mean they say its rated 2-10.I would say PG13. It was a good movie for one made in 1979.I give it 9 out of 10. Very scary and full of suspence. A must see for Sci-Fi\horror fans!

Summary: One of the best science fiction films ever made!
Review: "Alien" is a masterpiece in every sense of the word. From the amazing set production to the design of the alien itself, and the brilliant construction of the characters. It is also very scary, even today! I can't remember any other film I have seen that has given me so many nightmares! It's awesome! I am happy to say that I am a fan of the "Alien" series, which unfortunately took a nose dive with "Alien 3", and went even deeper into the depths with "Alien Resurrection". The ingenuity and brilliance is the aspect that all of the other "Alien" films lack, including the second one. It's pure originality and brilliant filmmaking. I am extremely pleased with the 20th Anniversary release of "Alien" on DVD. Although it doesn't have the production footage of the laserdisc box set, it has all of the deleted scenes, trailers, artwork, and several different soundtracks of the film, including the entire film in an early production soundtrack before a mix was made. My personal favorite is the design of the interactive menus on this DVD, which lets you waltz around the rooms of the Nostromo Spacecraft each time you make a selection. All in all, this is an excellent DVD, and I strongly recommend that you add it to your collection!

Summary: Love the commentary by Ridley Scott
Review: The DVD version of one of the best four or five movies of all time includes a sound track by Ridley Scott discussing why and how things were done.

Summary: Out of this World
Review: I saw the movie, when it was released back in 1979, while watching the movie i got so scared that i thought of leaving the theatre twice, but held on to it, Hollywood can never repeat this phenomena called ALien twice, atleast in our lifetime. If you havent seen it you are missing something undescribable, so go and see it while it is still out there (VHS,DVD,etc)

Summary: A Science Fiction Masterpiece!
Review: This is one of the greatest science fiction films of all time. Just watching the opening title of this film suggests a story that will bring you terror and fascination at the same time. Director Ridley Scott ("Blade Runner") has created a masterpiece which transcends time. I sometimes look back on a movie that was made two years prior called "Star Wars" and I laugh at how primitive it seems today. However, Alien is as spectacular as it was in 1979. This movie could be rereleased today with as much fanfare as it had twenty years ago. "Alien" broke the mold when it was made and almost every aspect of it has been copied since. This includes the ingenious set designs and the alien creature itself.

All aspects of this film, the screenplay, direction, acting, special effects, and the awesome set designs took a vast amount of imagination and creativity. The thought process alone that went into conceiving an alien which gestates in a human host, and goes through an incredible metamorphosis of various stages to its final horrific form, was a major accomplishment. Sigourney Weaver, as "Ellen Ripley", is the greatest warrior in movie history. She is not only fighting to save her crew from the "Alien", but she's fighting to save humanity from the evil "Company" that will stop at nothing to gain what they desire.

I cannot say enough good things about this movie. JUST SEE IT!

Summary: Excellent!
Review: Alien is one of the best science fiction movies ever made. From the opening credits to the end credits, we are taken on a ride of wonder and terror. The music, which itself is a character throughout the film, sets the tone. The first hour, the music brings a since of wonder to the film. After the alien appears, the music, which doesn't change, now becomes haunting. The cast is top notch, with John Hurt stealing the spotlight. And the artwork and designs by Gieger are truly amazing. If you are one of the few who have never seen this film, don't let any one tell you about it. Everything in the film is surprising. I could go on and on. The DVD version of this film is also amazing. From the excellent interactive menus, to the commentary by Scott, this is a must have. I give ALIEN an A+.

Summary: A Classic, but not as good as ALiens
Review: I first saw Alien as a 10 year old in 1979 and remember laughing (when the rest of the audience gasped in terror!) when the face hugger sprang out of the egg sack onto Kane's helmet. Essentially, Alien is JAWS in outer space. Ridley Scott does a good job creating a suspensful atmosphere on the planet and then in the Nostromo. My favorite character was Parker, played by Yaphet Kotto. I still get upset watching the movie during the scene when he throws down his flame thrower and tries to fight the Alien with his bare hands because stupid Lambert is too terrified to get out of the way. I see ALien as setting the trend for a long line of horror/sci-fi movie wherein a black man (I am white, by the way) sacrifices himself to save the white people (Leviathan, Alien 3, Starship Troopers are examples that come to mind). Ian Holm's Ash was very creepy. My main complaint with this movie is that the alien is very slow and mechanical in its movements. Hell, it could have burst into the room and killed the entire crew in a matter of minutes instead of all the skulking around. As with Aliens, this movie is enhanced not only by the struggle with the creature(s), but also with the enemy within factor, with Ash in this movie and Carter Burke in Aliens, who both have agendas that compromise the ability of the cast to survive. All in all, I rate Alien a 7 out of 10. It is inferior to Aliens, but better than Alien 3 and Resurrection. I still enjoy watching it from time to time. I remember reading the book and it included the scene where Ripley finds Dallas cocooned and would like to see it on video one of these days. I think the laser disc version showed it.

Summary: perhaps the best movie ever?
Review: It only takes one word to sum this movie up, Awesome! The only reason this movie is questionable by some for the best movie ever is because of the fact that it has 3 sequels. THe sequels aren't bad it's just, they ruin the feel of the original. If they had just stopped after the first movie that movie would be known as an all-time classic. The original wasn't about just Ellen Ripley, It was about the whole crew. You knew absolutely nothing about alien except just that it is trying to kill everybody. Alien is an all-time great movie though and I reccommmend it to anyone who likes movies.

Summary: turning point in sci-fi horror
Review: Dispite the lacklust reviews, this film became a classic overnight and prove to be worthy of three more sequels. Still most momeriable is the shockingly realistic Space alien ripping from the chest of one of the crew and dripping acidic fluids from it jaw. People still talk about Alien today.Whether or not the formula derives from the classic 50's era, this movie reinvents the genre into a modern day classic with it's use of organic styled aliens and spaceship. As for the casting that speaks for itself. the other elements of the film all pull together for one fantastic ride of tension. I give this one four of five stars.

Summary: Next time you go out into space, mind your own business!
Review: A great combination of science fiction and horror. Ridley Scott got a lot of mileage out of the smallest cast for a major motion picture since Alfred Hitchcock's "Lifeboat". If you can stomach the "hatching" of the alien monster out of John Hurt's chest and manage to stay in your seat afterwards, you'll find that this really is one of the better films in the category of sci-fi.
