Summary: The creepiest film ever
Review: This is the creepiest, most nerve racking movie I've ever seen. It's the most suspenceful of the Alien movies and features a pretty good cast. Becuse it was filmed in the 70s the quality (both sound and set) are a bit lower than the other films, but that's such a minor flaw that it's not a real problem at all. The alien is this film is always popping up at unsuspected times and Jones (the cat) has the unnerving habit of hissing at the alien. This is a really great film to watch in the dark

Review: One of the classics of sci-fi! Every Science Fiction fan should have Alien in their collection. It's worth it to have this one on DVD.

Summary: Alien Review
Review: The book Alien is a thriller by Alan Dean Foster and it has lots of twists and turns that go on inside the story. For ten months an autopilot took the crew of the Norstromo to a distant solar system to investigate an S.O.S single from an alien. The weird part is they don't know what it means so it could also be a warning to stay away. All the crew wanted was a little extra pay that now has them just wishing that they had never investigated this and had just stayed in hyper sleep. I really enjoyed this book because I think it was very well written in all ways. It is also very suspenseful and it is like things just pop out at you all directions then suddenly just go away. You also can't tell what is going to come next since it is an alien and the crew could just find him on top of a reactor.

Summary: Alien - Still the Best
Review: This movie was a first for women. Ripley was no side-kick, no second rate player behind the men. Ripley battles her fear while she battles using her intelligence and instinct. She's tough and above all she wants to survive! Truly inspirational when one contemplates how very strange the universe can become overnight.

Summary: ALIEN!
Review: There have been several films that have turned a spaceship into a haunted house, but "Alien" is pretty much the first and the best of the lot! True, it is a little drawn out at time, but you have to admit that during the first half of the movie, when you are trying to figure out what horrible thing is about to happen, the chest-buster scene is a great payoff! Watch the reaction of the actors during that scene; they were brought in with John Hurt all set up and did not know what was about to happen! Too bad they cut the scene where Ripley finds Dallas cocooned! The special effects and relentless suspect are what make this 1979 film from director Ridley Scott a Sci-Fi/Horror Classic! Certainly it changed Sigourney Weaver's career for the better but the movie benefits from an above average cast of Tom Skerritt, Ian Holm, Veronica Cartwright, Harry Dean Stanton and Yaphet Kotto! Special Kudos to H. R. Geiger for the Alien Design and stuntman Eddie Powell for playing the Alien!

P.S. My vote is that "Aliens" is the best movie in the series!

Summary: Great movie, bad DVD printing
Review: Alien is not only my favorite of the genre (whichever one you choose to put it in), it is also my reference standard for home theater, as I came across it on broadcast TV just after I installed my first system. Unfortunately, my DVD experience has been terrible; both copies of the 20th Anniversary Edition that I have picked up have had the same glitch, stuttering to a stop right at the start of the hanging-chains sequence ("Here Kitty", scene 9 from the scenes menu, the surround-sound test scene that I mentioned before) - the movie just stops dead, and will not continue. I am hoping to trade it in for the 2nd time today, but this is truly a crime. I hope that this is an aberration, but I suspect that this printing has many such glitches in it.

Summary: A must have
Review: Yes, you've probably seen them too. Black, slimy, ugly creatures, that now has appeared in four films. If you don't like Alien much, there is no reason why to buy this DVD other than that it is everything you ever wanted to know about the movie Alien.

The enginious thing about this DVD are of course the extras. The extras have some facts you did know, some things you didn't know, and even some stuff you never wanted to know. You don't have to buy the soundtrack when buying this DVD, because you get the soundtrack (so called isolated audio channel) as an added bonus. If it was up to me, I think that releasing the soundtrack with the DVD should become standard issue. But that's just me talking. You also get the movie, with the added commentary of the director, which I think is quite interesting, because you get a lot of insight in how they made sci-fi back in the old days. Lastly, as said earlier, you get a lot of other stuff that adds to the "plenty" factor that this DVD carries.

There will always be discussions of which two movies are best: Alien, or Aliens (Alien 2.) I for one, think that Aliens is great, yes. But the drama, and suspence of Alien and its epic music (some of it used in Alien Ressurrection) makes Alien the best Alien movie.

If you think what I think, and agree with what I am saying: Not owning this DVD, would be a sin in itself.

A true classic, that remains a king of its genre (thanx to the creators of this DVD which get credit after the ending credits of the original movie.)

Summary: The Sci-Fi Classic [Better on DVD]
Review: Of course we have all seen Alien. And probably Aliens. I don't know how many have seen Alien 3, and the awful Alien: Resurrection. But [in my humble opinion] the original Alien is the best. It has the biggest scares, the best plot, and the most horror [Aliens has the most action]. And the DVD version, with the killer Cut Scenes is even better than watching it in a movie theater. If you don't own Alien, which every sci-fi fan should, then buy it today. You won't be disappointed.

Review: ...of the billions of movies ever made, this is my favorite! i love movies that embrace and provide us with the greatest of all possible escapisms: far-flung futures with people surrounded by slick technical advancements but still having they rear ends rearranged in horrible, bloodcurdling fashions! another american classic! if you havent seen this yet, then what planet are you from? stop being so reluctant and enjoy this.
