Summary: One of the few films that REALLY scares me.
Review: "Phantoms" does have its moments and I was not very disappointed - even though I had reads the book. The acting is good, the plot is pretty good... It's not great - but it's something that can be very entertaining. Not bad at all.

Summary: poor
Review: My video clerk described this film perfectly: "It's a blob movie." Do blobs scare you? Especially Blobs who purport to be made up of all the evils of the history of the world - who just happen to materialize occasionally as big bat-like creatures that smash through windows? Then, by all means, see this.

Summary: ok story have seen better from the movie's stars
Review: this movie is ok for special effects.then it gradually turns into a horror movie. All of the stars have been in better movies (like affeck, armeggedon, the guy from the scream and ransom, mcgowan jawbreaker, etc..) also where is the trailer i have come to expect from disney ( after all it is a disney movie ) it just does not say it!!!a civil action is a much better dvd from the same studio as either dvd of the scream movie. This dvd is a ok for a rainy day or if you have some time to kill!!OK special effects!!Pathetic story!!

Summary: Not even Ben Affleck can save this movie
Review: I absolutely love Ben but making this movie was a huge mistake! He wasted his talent making a low-budget, cruddy film. The plot is so not plausible and the acting is just well, not good. Rose, Peter, Ben, and Liev could've done a lot better but i guess when your in a bad movie you really have no motivation. Ben I love you but what the heck were you thinking?

Summary: Phantom of a storyline
Review: What more could you ask for? The writing genius of Dean Koontz, the star-power of Ben Affleck and a plot involving a mysteriously deserted town? A mildly entertaining movie that's what! When it is revealed that the reason for the town's desertion can be attributed to an enormously powerful being that has the ability to kill or take over anyone or anything that comes in it's path you can't help but get engrossed. Despite this brief satisfaction however, it soon dawned on me that there really was no genuine suspense present (unless a lump of black goop that inhabits dogs put you on the edge of your seat) and that despite Ben Afflecks prescence, the acting is abysmal. Even Peter O'Toole seems to display any real emotion as he explains the creature believes it is Satan and is therefore extremely hard to kill. The first thing that springs to mind when I finally caught a glimpse of the creature (that turns out to be a big blue light) is how extraordinarily low the budget must have been and how temporarily insane Ben Affleck must have been when he signed on to star. By the end of the movie, instead of feeling gripped by fear I was thinking more about how I'd wasted seven hard earned dollars. Could have been a lot better!

Summary: Arachniphobia meets Alien meets Night of the Living Dead
Review: This movie was awesome!! Forget the reviews! Don't listen to them! You have to read the book before you see it though, and the movie lacked many of the more scary parts, but it still was great. The bakery scene with the severed heads was real scary! The special effects with the giant moth and the sewer-tentacle-spikes that killed Galen Copperfield were very realistic! The dead bodies of the deputy Paul Henderson and the priest were incredibly real and graphic! The actors aren't too great, but Affleck fit the role of Bryce Hammond incredibly. This is a good movie to watch at night...

Summary: Phantoms has its moments
Review: Despite what you might gather from some of the reviews, this movie actually gets off to a great start for a horror movie, with a handful of people trapped in an eerie deserted town. And while the unseen menace which wiped out the town remains a mystery, the movie does a good job of building up a sense of dread. But once the monster makes its appearance, and its perfectly obvious that it could have wiped out the entire cast whenever it wanted to, the movie goes rapidly downhill, and the last 20-30 minutes are pretty lame, grade B stuff.

Summary: THE BLOB, THE FOG, THE SHINNING, THE ANDROMEDA STRAIN...
Review: Is all of these movies put together. The first 20 minutes are good in getting our attention, but later when we kind of get the feeling the "phantoms" are not what we thought they were, the movie loses momentum. This film borrows freely from The Blob- the underground scene- and The Shinning- the somber kid that appears out of nowhere- The Thing- the exploding dog- The Fog- the group of dead people appearing suddenly- The Andromeda Strain- the desolated town- The Howling- scene where a character re-appears at a bar- and we could go on for hours... Is not a good movie for people who have seen many other horror films. The younger generation may get a kick of the boo! scenes, but that all.

Summary: A PRETTY SCARY FILM
Review: I thought this to be a scary science fiction/horror film, despite what the critics said about it. The special effects were striking, almost, but not quite comparable to "Wishmaster," in my opinion.Peter O'Toole seemed somewhat uncomfortable in his role, but the other actors did OK, given the limited character development of their roles. It had the usual "there may be a another" ending. Will be ever be rid of those creatures?

Summary: Why does everyone hate this?
Review: Why was this movie shredded so bad by everyone except everyone I know whose seen it? Chapelle offers good direction, the acting is good, great special effects, so what is it? The first half was actually extremely frightening and tense. The second half slipped more into a monster type movie, but still was a pretty damn good one. So why?
