Summary: "Hello Heather, miss me?"
Review: Wes Craven's New Nightmare, is played out in real life with the actors who played the characters in the Nightmare in Elm Street series. It starts with Heather (Nancy in "N.I.E.S" series), her husband and 6 year old son reciving threatning phone calls that contain the Freddy Gruger rymes. Heather's son Stats to have Freddy nightmare's but of course no one will believe him until Heather has the same nightmare's . It appears that Freddy has jumped off the screen and into real life and the only way to stop him is to fall asleep.This movie lacked classic horror and reaked of petty scares and not any real gore but did had it's moments. Though Freddy did look a lot more scarier with updated facial apperance and a long black jacket he was to comedic. The grafics were not great as it was just played out in real life except for the battle with Freddy.

Review: when i first watched this movie i had to look around me to make sure i was alone ,,because i thought freddy died,,,wes really out did his-self on this one it was truely a great scary movie with nancy and freddy going at it one more time. if you like horror you will like this one watch it just once that's all it takes.

Review: Wes Craven's final installment (or at least the last one that's been made so far) to the Nightmare on Elm Street series is an original concept. Instead of creating a fictional show, he bases this one in the real world--Freddy comes after the actors and filmmakers involved in the films. It's highly original and really well done. And after listening to the commentary track, you realize just how well made this movie is (Wes Craven does a good commentary). The acting isn't anything spectacular, but it isn't bad. And Miko Hughes (the little boy) plays these chilling kids very well. He does a great job. And Freddy seems a bit more sleek, and darker than the previous films (except for 1 and maybe 2). I like the series, and this is one of the better (and original) installments. Oh, and an interesting feature on the dvd is the 'Jump to a Nightmare' option, here you can go to the different nightmares (like you would in chapter selection). Intersting.

Summary: Craven thoughtfully reflects on his own myth
Review: Freddy Krueger is more than just a horror film villain; in 'A Nightmare on Elm Street', Wes Craven had reconfigured age-old themes (good versus evil, natural versus supernatural, etc.) with such force that he had created a sort of modern myth which was more about these universal themes than about conventional 'story elements'. Most of the sequels ignored this mythic quality until Craven himself went back to the series and again brought it to the fore. Although there are some allusions to the first five sequels and their consequences on the general perception of Freddy, this film is primarily a companion piece to the original movie -- those who have seen the first 'Nightmare' will recognize many elements from that film, including the more simple and 'primal' behavior of Freddy. Over the years, many viewers have identified themselves with him - thus, sometimes unknowingly, with all the evil that he stands for - and this is one of this film's most important themes; when Craven reintroduces the 'classic Freddy' during a talk-show scene, the character is predictably portrayed as the talkative and admired figure he had become (Englund is seen signing autographs in the following sequence). This watered-down Freddy only partially interests Craven; he's more interested in the character's essence, which is darker and more evil, hence the 're-invention' of Freddy during the movie's last half - it is less about Freddy as a character than about all he represents. Subtlety isn't this film's strongest point, but 'Wes Craven's New Nightmare' still is a thoughtful meditation on the Freddy-as-myth theme and there's an intelligent vision that runs through it all.

Review: This was a great movie. Every thing was great about it acting,freddy's looks and a lot more. I went out and bought the DVD. I think its better than the first but don't get me wrong I do like the first one. One of the better ones of the series.

Summary: One of Craven's Best Work as a Film's Director.
Review: When the Star of the Original film-Heather Langenkamp is happily married to a special effects man (David Newson) and having a eight year old son (Miko Hughes). Langenkamp gets a chance of a life-time to appear in a role that make her Famous for Horror Fans everywhere to make a More Realistic, Intelligent, Adult and Scary different sequel to the Elm Street sega that made Freddy Krueger (Which is been always played by Robert Englund) a household name for the then-independent studio:New Line Cinema. Which Wes Craven is actually writing the script but in some way-Freddy has become bring back to life to bring him to dreams and reality together by stalking and killing for these, who are involve in this new Production before Craven finish his Script. Written and Directed by Wes Craven (The Serpent and the Rainbow, Shocker, The People under the Stairs) made an excellent sequel for those, who grow up watching the Original. Langenkamp is actually very good in this and also Hughes, who steals the film as Heather's Son. This could've been great also, if this was about Robert Englund's dark side to Freddy. Still, Craven did the best job as he could be as a Writer and Director (Which he received some of the Best Reviews of his Career). Some of the People were involve with the Series-Including Robert Shaye and John Saxon played themselves also. Englund gives a different kind of Performance as the new and improve-Freddy Krueger gives him a different look and gives him a strong look also. This didn't do great at the Box Office but the film is very unique and doesn't really goes with the Elm Street films, which is a good thing. DVD's has an excellent anamorphic Widescreen (1.85:1) transfer and an strong Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound with an great commentary track by Craven. This is a complex, well made-thriller. Grade:A-.

Review: This is Wes Craven as his best. He redeems his Nightmare on Elm Street creation by going back to the original Freddy Kruger ... "darker, meaner" as described by Robert Englund. Apparently, the actors and tech people of the Nightmare on Elm Street sereies are having Freddy nightmares. He's real, and he's trying to get out into our world.
This movie will play with your mind and leave you guessing and gasping for breath.
Watch it with the lights off ... but don't ... fall ... asleep.

Summary: this is not a good movie
Review: If your a die hard fan and saw them all, you may like it, otherwise be warned. It's not good, the twisting of reality with Robert Englund appearing as himself, and Wes Craven's cameo just didn't add the renewal of life that they had hoped. It's not really scary either, which I thought was kind of a requirement in these horror movies.
