Summary: ok sequel with some chilling moments
Review: canyman was truly a classic horror film and although this sequel comes with a great start, it crumbles under its own weight. The first 10 minutes are genuinely creepy, but after the first half hour, you will find yourself somewhat bored. The suspense scenes are too far and too inbetween, you'll find yourself wishing that soemthing would start happening. Only the first ten mins. and the last three are worthwhile. The climax is pure cheese,but the performances are good. Worth watching only if you're a fan of the origina. But get ready to be dissappointed. Even the HBO sequel, Canyman 3 was better!

Summary: Do not purchase, rent or see this movie
Review: Compared to the original and Barker's masterpiece which once again blurs the thin line between pleasure and pain this movie is a complete let down. The sub plots and annoying disc jockey mesh to form what one might call an extremely annoying and trite horror experience. The plot is predictable and obviously if your considering purchasing this film you have not seen it. Trust me, Clive Barker's other films Hellraiser I, II and IV are where you should be browsing.

Review: i had accidentilly rented it along with the surgeon (boring) and mistaked it for the first one. i got mixed up with both movies (rented 1 and 2) and found the only conclusion is to watch them over again and found that the second had a worse plot. the first though (i think)(i hope) from what i have seen had a plot as a college person and went to discover candyman she had done the thing saying his name 5 times forgetting to let him out and he started framing her

Review: I thougth that this film would of been better but it wasn't. It was a corney, chessey, and cheap sequel. The film had no value in special effects and meaning, and it wasn't as close to be good as the cult classic orignal. I only gave it two stars because it had the same music, and themes, as the orignal, and that it had characters and pictures from the orignal.

Summary: Fast becoming a standard slasher series.
Review: In much the same manner of "Halloween", "Friday the 13th", and "Nightmare on Elm Street", the "Candyman" series is one that should have stopped at part 1. But unlike the other aforementioned series, this one didn't make any money. "Candyman 2 - Farewell to the Flesh" could have been a great horror movie if the filmmakers had actually researched the first movie. There are many plot points (none of which I will spoil here) that contradict what was stated clearly in the first film. But that is the least of this movie's problems. The acting and direction is sub-standard, even for a horror sequel. I went into this movie with the best expectations, hoping that it would further explore the urban legend. What I got was Candyman (without the creepy rasp of the first film, now just speaking in monotone) killing everybody we meet. To give credit where it is due, they gave Candyman more of a human identity, but it wasn't a very good attempt. While sequels usually have better special effects, "Candyman 2" is actually a step down from the original. Despite a few bloody moments, most of the murders are laugable. I found Candyman to be scarier when we didn't see him as much. I loved the first "Candyman" movie, and consider it to be the last really good horror movie made, in that it made something original. This sequel is not only derivative, but bloody and boring. There is a third part to the series, but I will give it a miss.

Summary: I contradicted Candyman
Review: In the origional story, Candyman's ashes were scattered on Cabrini Green. How did they get their if he was killed in New Orleans. The movie wasn't bad, the acting was good (all except the man who plays Annie's brother). Good to rent, but the first is so much better.

Review: it was kinda scary in a way like the beginning the thing that doesnt make it scary is because he doesnt have the voice. The cool part is when he opens up his jacket and bees come out.

Summary: Great Sequel
Review: Lets face it, most sequels are OK or bad. But we almost always enjoy them for the giggles right? Well this movie is different, its actually WORTHY of the original magnificent Candyman. The atmosphere and ambience of this movie is very well presented! It gives the "urbs" a bit more soul rather than the industrial feel of Candyman. We delve further into Candymans past, and see some great clips of the wonderful Tony Todd. I love this movie.

Summary: Sour Candy
Review: Like most horror franchises, what begins as a solid idea, is given another shot with variations, as a sequel. Candyman 2: Farewell To The Flesh takes an idea from Clive Barker and tries to further explore the mythology touched upon in the first film. While I have no problem with that aspect of the movie, the thing that's missing from the second installment, are the scares themselves.
A victim of unspeakable evil while he lived, the "Candyman" (Tony Todd) has become an incarnation of true evil in his afterlife. This time, he haunts the city of New Orleans, where a young school teacher named Annie Tarrant (Kelly Rowan) is struggling to solve the brutal murder of her father. The locals insist that he was slain by the Candyman, but Annie is not convinced. Until that is, she unwittingly summons the monster forth, and learns the secret of his power. In doing she also uncovers the shocking link that connects them.
While director Bill Condon remains faithful enough to Clive Barker's original concepts, he doesn't have the same keen eye that Bernard Rose did on the original. The script from Rand Ravich and Mark Kruger also has its share of "been there done that moments which doesn't help at all. Combined the film just isn't all that scary. Tony Todd, as Candyman, is still a force to be reckoned with to be sure, but even he seems bored at times.
The DVD audio commentary from Condon is fair enough and will give you plenty of the how's and why's of the movie. The theatrical trailer is here too.
