Summary: Tall man is cool.
Review: This is not as good as the first or the second, but it tends to answer a few questions one might have about the series.

Summary: pointless and boresome installment
Review: omg...i was lookign forward to renting this movie...wheni finally did, boy was i disappointed....this has to be the most pointless mvoie i have ever seen! It does not even deserve the genre of sci fi or horror. clearly this is the weakest of the series... This movie is so lame that there should be a surgeon generals warning on it that states that this movie will cause brain damage if viewed, cuz i think that i am traumatized from watching it!

Summary: A Scrap book of meandering
Review: First off, if you have not seen the other films, don't even begin to waste you time with this one. It completely relies on the other 3 movies to tie the micro-thread of a story together. This movie is a mess. I've seen all 4 and by far this does nothing to the series except give very little history to the tall man. The pacing is horrible, the editing was done by who knows who. This movie is not a movie. It's just clips edited together. Such a waste.

Review: DON COSCARELLI HAS DONE IT AGAIN! TURNING A LOW BUDGET FILM FROM 1977 TO THIS-PHANTASM4 OBLIVION. ALOT OF SPECIAL EFFECTS MADE THIS MOVIE A GREAT ONE. I AM A PHAN OF THE TALL MAN,AND ALSO "LOOK UP"TO HIM. THIS IS A GREAT MOVIE. I LOOKED FOR IT EVERYWHERE AND FINALLY BOUGHT IT AT A VIDEO STORE. I HAVE AT LEAST WATCHED IT 50 TIMES. --THE FLASHBACKS AND WHAT MIKE DOES TO THE HEARSE IS AWESOME--

Summary: Some things don't get better with time
Review: Well, it is a cold, wintry weekend in Montana and I was in a mood to see some horror flicks. So I rented both the original Phantasm in addition to this horrible film. Phantasm 4 is everything the first is not. There is no fear, no atmosphere, no action, no sense. The origin of the Tall Man is (sorta) revealed, but the revelation brings no resolution. Reggie continues to think with his little head instead of his big one, which explains why his lines are soooo bad. And Mike's role in the movie is incredibly vague; is he hero, victim, or the Tall Man's reluctant apprentice? I loved the first movie. Sure, it was no Academy Award winner, but it had some cool suspense and action. Unfortunately, each sequel gets progressively worse. Stick with the original and save your bucks; it was the only one in the series really worth seeing.

Summary: PLEASE!!!!
Review: What is this? I waited for years for the Phantasm films to make it to the DVD format so I could get my greedy little hands on some deleted scenes and commentary, ect. Now I see this! I mean come on, they dont have any deleted scenes, the only up side is the wide screen format. I dont need another copy of this besides the VHS because it is the danged wide screen version! I would only recommend this to any PHANTASM fans that don't already own the VHS. On the other hand I would heavily recommend the PHANTASM I DVD to fans even if you already own the VHS. It has so much extra spiffy stuff, go dead heads and may the TALL MAN live forever!!!!! Keep a look out for the upcoming PHANTASM VI 2040!!!

Summary: A Little Dissapointed
Review: I was actually pretty dissapointed with the last Phantasm movie in the series. I remember first buying Phantasm on DVD not knowing what to expect and I loved it!! I ran out to the video store and rented II and III. I loved them! But then I buy Phantasm IV: Oblivion on DVD and it was pretty hopeless. Why include scenes from the first Phantasm that none of us have ever seen?? It made no sense whatsoever! The ending was so confusing I lost track...does this mean there's going to be ANOTHER sequel or what? I was pretty bored with this movie...it could have been a lot better! It's a good movie for Phantasm fans to add to their collection. Phantasm will ALWAYS be the best out of all the 4!!

Summary: The second best in the Phantasm series.
Review: For almost twenty years now, The Tall Man has destory many small town across america. The Tall Man (Angus Scrimm) is ready to take over the world with his undead legions. The two determined heroes Micheal (A. Micheal Baldwin) & Reggie (Reggie Bannister) are trying hard to destory The Tall Man, once and for all before he takes over the world.

Written and Directed by Don Coscarelli (Phantasm Series, Kenny & Company) made an terrific sequel that is better than the last two films of the Phantasm Series. DVD`s has an terrific anamorphic Widescreen (1.85:1) transfer & Pan and Scan is included. Strong Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. The most interesting thing about Phantasm 4, is they used Deleted Footage from the first film to add plot to Phantasm 4. The best Phantasm film since the first. Grade:A-.

Summary: Oblivion indeed....
Review: The title describes quite well just where the series has wandered. This movie seems to be nothing more than an ill attempt
to keep the saga alive. Moreover I believe there is more footage of the original film in this monstrosity than anything new director Coscarelli has drempt up.

There are aspects of the film that work well though. For instance the atmosphere is the creepiest since the Cocteauian original and realy sets an eery mood. Furthermore Coscarelli has scraped the idea of numerous sub-characters found in the prequels to establish a final showdown between the key players.

However, the definitive Phantasm this is not. Those in hope of answers to the mythos of the pernicious Tall Man will be greeted with obscure answers that lead to yet more questions. One begins to wonder if Coscarelli is apprehensive to reveal too much in fear of diminishing Phantasm's mystque, or perhaps the director is just biding his time until(or if) the funding for Phantasm's End comes around.

Whatever the reason this lackluster attempt to prolong the series will most likely fail to inspire even the most die hard of fans.

Summary: Flashbacks Aplenty
Review: This movie is for anyone that has never seen any of the Phantasms. Filled with flashbacks (with actual original footage which is pretty cool)from all 3 previous Phantasms, Phantasm 4 is good movie to watch inorder to catch up with the phantasm mythos. However, is you've alreadly seen 1-3 the movie might tend to get a little boring with the flashbaacks but it is still worth seeing, just to see the scene with Reggie and the girl is the motel.
