Summary: Cool monster, mediocre skill
Review: This is the classic example of a movie made for it's special effects. I must admit, however, that they're good. I liked Lance Henrikson, but the best asset of the movie, of course, is the monster. The creator also helped make the beasts in ALIENS, which is of no surprize, considering the monster's semblance to those creatures. Despite good technical credits, the scares are few and lame and the timing seems a little off. The movie is also a little too short. However, the final shot in the movie was cool.

Summary: A Great Movie
Review: Suprisingly well done story of a father who's son is killed by an accident, commited by "city folks" and as revenge unleashes an unstoppable demon known as Pumpkinhead to extract his revenge. He soon realizes he can no longer control it and sets off to put an end to it himself. Using and excellent monster with truly interesting aspects, make Pumpkinhead an truly unique and memorable film.

Summary: PUMPKINHEAD
Review: This is a very good movie despite the slightly silly name. Lance Henriksen gives a great performance. The demon Pumkinhead is a spooky looking creature. The beginning is sad when Lance's only son, with who he had a really heartwarming father-son relationship, is accidentally killed. To find out what happens you'll have to see the movie. Trust me it's worth a look.

Review: Oh dear. Buy the R2 release instead, it's in proper widescreen.

Summary: I'm sorry, but that Pumpkinhead monster looks ridiculous
Review: The beginning of Stan Winston's "Pumpkinhead" starts out with promise and the plot is quite good. A man's child is accidentally killed by a teenager and of course Ed Harley (played nicely by Lance Henrickson) looks for revenge, but Harley seeks an old and evil kind of revenge.

So, Harley goes to see this creepy witch out in the middle of the woods and he asks her for help in getting revenge against the teenagers. Harley's emotional state is understandable given the death of his child, but Harley sells his soul to the Devil in order to conjure up this Pumpkinhead creature to carry out his deadly revenge.

This is where the movie goes south! As I said, the plot was good and this movie had potential, but this monster looks ridiculous and evokes laughter from the audience rather than any genuine sense of horror. Indeed, the monster or Pumpkinhead looks comical and any sense of horror that could have been instilled in the audience is lifted.

Predictably, the monster begins killing the teenagers one at a time, but can anything stop the evil monster before it's too late? Other than Henrickson, the acting is average and the death scenes are decent. Although "Pumpkinhead" has a good plot, the monster is unconvincing and basically a total joke, and therefore, the horror film fails in its essential purpose.

Summary: A Stand-Out Classic
Review: it's taken me a long time to get around to reviewing this legendary take on one of the graetest creatures ever, considering i saw it quite some time ago, but i've finally pushed myself to tell you of its genius (because you must know!). the movie Pumpkinhead is an all-time classic favorite of mine. for starters, its a great story. sure, the idea of a monster killing a bunch of people isn't original, but it sure needed a fix-up. you can't consider Pumpkinhead just another monster movie because its one of those monster movies that perfected the idea instead of just continuing the long yawn that had been a chain production through so many films. the basic storyline:
ed's son is killed in a biking accident at the fault of them "city-folks". those city-folks are several teenagers that had no intention of hurting the boy, and are sorry they did. but ed doesn't understand that. all he knows is that his son has been killed. the teens flee to the next nearest spot hoping to escape getting arrested. but ed has no intensions of calling the cops. as a young boy, ed witnessed a man be killed by the legendary folklore figure of Pumpkinhead (which you get to see that scene at the beginning of the movie). so ed finds an old witch in the woods and insists that she conjure up Pumpkinhead to get revenge for his sons death. she raises Pumpkinhead from the patch alright, but its not what ed had expected. Pumpkinhead goes on an all-out slay-fest, brutally killing the teens one by one. ed sees that this is too much and he has made a mistake, but the witch can't stop the beast. so ed takes matters into his own hands and attempts to stop Pumpkinhead himself. bad move ed...bad move.
Pumpkinhead is elevated the most by its main creature. the outfit for the monster is amazingly realistic. it is a true classic monster now among the greatest and understandably so. just search up some pics of Pumpkinhead on yahoo or something and you'll see that the costume is one of the greatest. there are also wonderful special effects, with really dark sets and a modd that is perfectly creepy for this. this is lance henriksen at his best, too. any fans of lance will love this one. (side note: there is also a slight "twist" ending on here that is quite clever.) i don't know what else to say. its worth renting or buying simply to see the monster over and over again. great production all around. its really good. so get this one. go on...get it! go! GIDDERDUN! seriously, you should to see this movie so do it.

Summary: got it all
Review: There is many gripes to be had about the lame dvd that came with this movie. But I dare anytone to try to find something wrong with the pumpkinhead movie itself. Great acting, great concept, believable victims, believable reason for the father to do what he does, and most of all a GREAT monster. Pumpkinhead in my view is the BEST kept secret of the horror movie genres. Its one of those movies that come on scifi sometime and you catch it and then find yourself running out to go find the dvd. If you havent seen it by now please check it out. Rent it at least. I guarantee u will buy it
