Summary: Response to JAREK's REVIEW
Review: I can see your point of looking at Book of Shadows with non-sequel eyes, but if I did that then SPEED 2 would be a great movie and Gremlins 2 and Karate Kid 2, but the fact of the matter is that all of these movies ARE, yes, ARE SEQUELS to their predecesor and all of them came up not so good,

BLAIR WITCH 2 sucks and I wish it wasn't affiliated with the original, because it somewhat taints it. There was nothing great about this sequel to BLAIR WITCH

JAREK--SPEED 2 must be a totally awesome film, too!

Summary: I dont think its all that bad
Review: This movie is not the worst movie Ive ever seen. I think it could have done with some more vague links to different parts of the movie so that it makes a stronger more interesting storie line instead of doing random wiered events. Its the sort of movie that If im realy bored I will sit down and watch it or If im having lunch or dinner I would put on. Its the sort of movie that gets you thinking, but doesn't take to much thought to see whats going on.

Summary: The worst movie ever made (or damn close)
Review: I can't express in words the dissapointment in this film. First there was no Book of Shadows so I don't know where they got the title. It was quite like the plot... non existent. the first movie was so original and so scary. I new this was not going to come close to the first, but I didn't think it would be this bad. Instead of giving more interesting info on the Blair Witch Legend, or doing a Prequel, showing the man kidnap and kill the children, which I would have found fascinating, they came up with this drivel. The acting was atrocious, no plot, nudity for the sake of not even needing nudity, the best part was when the credits began to roll. Ya know how bad this movie is? Leonard Part 6 was better, because that was supposed to be funny, this was supposed to be serious.

Summary: Ignore the critics!
Review: Put simply, this is one of the greatest films I have seen. It doesn't get five stars (Shawshank Redemption is the only film I've ever given 5 stars), but please don't listen to the narrow-minded film critics of the world and go and see it for yourself. OK, the acting perhaps could be a little better, but you honestly don't have time to notice because the film does a fantastic job of freaking you out constantly and relentlessly. I only saw it last night, I'm going to see it again tonight. It's that good.

Summary: wow! what a great film
Review: I honestly believe that BLAIR WITCH 2 is one of the most intelligent films I've seen in a long time. Sure, it's been bashed by 90% of viewers and critics, but they just don't get the movie. One has to look at it as an individual entity, and not a sequel to the original, to truly appreciate it. It is not a horror movie either, but a very clever, very disturbing look at mass psychosis and mob mentality. It shows what the human psyche is capable of creating in order to mask what human nature is capable of, and keeps one guessing throughout.

Just a great film, in all aspects. Again, it's unfortunate that so many viewers went into it with such closed minds. Watch this with an open mind an prepare to be amazed.

Summary: Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2
Review: The first thing thats wrong with this film is that everything that they could have done wrong, they did. After an entertaining start, the film continues with the story of the aftermath of the release of the original. Abandoning the mockumentary style of the first film, we follow the story of a group of blair witch fans, lead by Jeff, an ex-mental patient, trapesing into the woods where they drink, do drugs and black out. They awake to find their stuff trashed and a strange presence following them back to Jeff's abandoned factory of a home. The film comes off as a poor man's slasher film with some badly executed flashbacks and some very poor acting. But to be fair, the script didn't do them justice. There is hardly any thrills and where there could of been, there's just confusion. The actual Book of Shadows itself has no relation to the film and many things are left unexplained. The best thing about this film is that it makes the original look like the masterpiece that it is.

Summary: Not the best but good enough!
Review: Well, after hearing such bad reviews about this film i thought it would be awful but it was far from that. Ok,it wasn't the best film i've seen in my life but worth watching all the same. The first Blair Witch was of course better considering it was the first one but this was a good 'sequel.' Better than others anyway. The ending leaves you to believe that there will be a third Blair Witch(due out next year)which i will be looking forward to seeing. It wasn't very scary but a few jumpy bits. A little weird at times and not a very long film but like i said worth seeing!

Summary: What casts the shadows in the book?
Review: I was extremely dissapointed with the Book of Shadows. I had walked in expecting to be horrified as I was after watching the first Blair Witch Project. I honestly have never met with such an extreme in sequels. The Blair Witch Project was a classic among horror movies. It defied the conventional film standards by never quite showing you what it was that was making you squeemishly watch in subdued terror. You never saw the villain, there was a minimal amount of gore, it was all left to your imagination. The entire premise of the movie was brilliant and what really thrilled me to find out, was that it was filmed by college students with such a low budget. I honestly could not sleep for four hours after watching the video at home. (I believe the thunderstorm outside possibly had something to do with it as well) I laugh at the people I meet who claim to have been bored by the movie or didn't find it frightening at all. The only reason I can attribute to this phenomenon is that they were not relying on their own imaginations, but those of the directors. They _wanted_ to see the blood and guts. Well the Book of Shadows did precisely this. It paraded grotesque visions of mayhem on the screen before your eyes. Confusion and disgust were the only emotions that ran through my mind as I watched it. What was the point? Was this supposed to be frightening? It was in no way realistic, and the all of the characters in the movie itself were very much fake. I honestly didn't really care what happened to them. (As inhumane as it sounds) I walked into the cinema with a very open mind, expecting the worst but hoping to be frightened out of my mind. It was only after the first twenty minutes that I began to see that the movie was much like cotton candy mixed with MTV. Flashy, gaudy scenes which danced on the screen so quickly you couldn't piece what it was that the director intended to do with the film.. I was at one point unsure if the movie had a director at all, or rather the editors simply spliced together bits of raw footage flimed by bad actors.

Summary: Good but not as scary as the first one
Review: I have seen a lot of negative reviews about this film, which I feel is unjustified. It wasn't the best film ever made but it was also not the worst film either. The film is very flash to look at and it could have been great. The music was brilliant, the acting was fairly good and the editing was brilliant however, someone forgot about writing a script. Basically, 5 people go into the forest on a Blair Witch Tour and decide to sleep at the ruins of Rustin Parr's house. During the night, they lose 5 hours of their life and the rest of the film is based around what happened during these 5 hours. With a decent script, this could have been a really interseting film but with no script, the average viewer will realise what happened in those 5 hours within the first 30 minutes and then wait for the film to end. I would have given it 3 stars but the film was just so good to look at I decided to give it an extra star. No doubt, on video/DVD, it will lose some of the impact that it had on the big screen. Some people will love this film, others will hate it. I say that it's okay. I've seen better but i have definitely also seen much worse. Much much worse.

Summary: I hated, hated, hated this movie!
Review: Blair witch 2, is easily the worst movie of the year 2000! This is the most calculated, dumb, unfunny, not scary bit of garbage I have see in a long time which is a real let down because it had so much potential. The first Blair Witch was witty, intriguing and the kind of movie that demanded a couple of viewings. I found it hard to tolerate this flick for the whole thing even though it was only 90 minutes or so. This movie was designed to take your money, piss you off and make way for another sequel. It will do all three if we don't stop it now! Do not see this movie! If only a few folks go to see this crap then hopefully Artisan will think twice before making a third!
