Summary: What have movies come to?
Review: This movie is pure trash by a horror master. The action scenes were very rare and pointless and the dialogue was completely un-original and contrived. Don't waste any money on this, for it is pointless trash. Anyway, as you can see, nobody saw this movie anyway--it bombed at the box-office and with the critics. You either love this movie, or you really HATE it--in my case, that is what happened.

Summary: Lacklustre vampires leave little to get your teeth into
Review: With a dirty, sleazy style of presentation, Vampires dithered between comedy and serious drama with a smattering of western style cliches thrown in. This lack of uniform direction often let it down.

James Woods was excellent as the chief slayer, but the rest of the cast were somewhat anemic. Thomas Ian Griffith had the physical presence to be one of the classic Vampires, but failed to bring any menace to bear.

The climax was very poor and clearly Griffith's Valek would never meet such an end after surviving for 600 years.

So, why did I give it a 3? Well, despite its failings it was enjoyable to watch. The action scenes were very well done and the execution by winch was a great idea. If you like Vampires and Vampire mythology you'll probably like this. Otherwise, I wouldn't stake my life on you enjoying it.

Summary: Don't waste your time!
Review: This movie isn't worth the film it's shot on. Boring, boring, boring. John Carpenter has gone to the absolute bottom of the barrel for this one. Ever go to the movies and within the first fifteen minutes, just wish it would end? If that's what gets you off, then buy this DVD.

Summary: You'll either love this movie or hate it.
Review: Personally, I LOVED it, with a capital L. I admit that its not exactly too profound or sophisticated, but it never tries to pretend it is. That's what I loved about it. It's a man's flick. But at the same time, it's artistic and stylish. The action is pulse pounding, immersive and realistic, unlike the cookie cutter kung fu fighting in Blade. The special effects are excellent and the music really fits the mood of the film. Despite what you may have heard, all the actors did a splendid job of bringing their characters to life, especially James Woods and Thomas Ian Griffith(who stole the show with his menacing portrayal of the master vampire, despite the fact that he had no more than four lines through the entire film.) My only gripe is that it wasn't nearly as deep and emotionally involving as the book. But still, this is the best vampire movie I've ever seen. Valek makes the sorry vamps from Buffy, Blade and Anne Rice novels look like care bears!

Summary: Standing Ovation for John Carpenter
Review: Words cannot describe how much I really love this movie. So far, this is the best John Carpenter film I love. The only two characters I love are Jack Crow and Valek. James Woods had this cool toughguy attitude. Thomas Ian Griffith played the Master Vampire very well. I just hope there will be a sequel, and he returns as Valek again. Well...I doubt that my wish will be granted. Anyway, the movie was excellent. Even though I didn't really want Valek to die, I give it 5 stars anyway. I am looking forward to see more movies from John Carpenter.

Summary: A Vampire Movie with Real Bite!!!
Review: If you're a real vampire lover, then you'll really enjoy John Carpenter's "VAMPIRES." This movie is action packed and, yes, there is plenty of gore (after all, it is a horror movie). James Woods gives a great performance as "Jack Crow," the leader of the slayers. However, the one performance that really got me into this movie was that given by Thomas Ian Griffith as the Master of all Vampires, "Valek." Griffith's presence alone steals every scene that he's in. The only reason why "VAMPIRES" didn't get 5 stars was because of the way it ended. I was expecting a grander finale than what was given. If you love Vampire lore then this is the movie for you.

Summary: A Refreshingly Different Vampire Movie!!
Review: John Carpenter takes Vampires to a whole new level in this excellent movie! If you want to see a traditional vampire movie, this is not for you! If you want action and lots of it then this is the best vampire movie for you! Jack Crow (James Woods) and his vampire slayers are ready for action, and the first 20 minutes of this movie shows them at work killing the vampires in their own hideout, even though the head vampire should be there he is nowhere to be found. They don't have to wait long because the head vampire Valek (Thomas Ian Griffith) finds them and kills most of Crow's vampire slayers, So Crow and Montoya (Daniel Baldwin) with the help of Katrina (Sheryl Lee) a hooker who was at the party which Valek interupted go in search of him and with the help of the Church they hope to finally be rid of Valek.

Summary: This film really doesn't Bite! (bad pun)
Review: I know the acting sorta stinks and the action sequences are kinda corny at times in the film but all in all, this film does live up to it's title. John Carpenter who is best known for his film Halloween creates a very rough and dirty enviroment for John Carpenter's Vampires. The violence isn't any more vulgar as Halloween in my opinion and being that it's a horror film, you should expect there to be plenty. I think it helps to be a big fan of James Woods in general because if your not then you might hate him in this film. He's not charming, he doesn't have too many morals about human life, and he isn't considered a pretty boy in the first place. Yet the fact that he kills vampires does make him a hero as well as the fact that he works for the Church. The action sequences are pretty intense and very well done. I've seen plenty of vampire films and this one ranks in the top 5 easily. There are many horribly made vampire flicks but Carpenter does a good job of proving that it can be done well. Also, there is some definate nudity in this film so be warned. Only ages 17 and up should see this film. I love this film and I think that it's a good idea that one rents it before buying it.
