Summary: Can't you idiots get past Micael Myers?
Review: This was an excellent movie, and a great edition to the series. Originally the plan was to make a different Halloween movie each year, but so called "true fans" and bias pressed forced this movie and the idea to bomb mainly because of Micael not being in it(had they taken the 3 out of the title it probably would've done better). Anyway, this movie is completely original. The plot pits Dr.Dan Challis (Tom Atkins), and Ellie Grimbridge (Stacey Nelkin) against the evil warlock Colnel Cochran (Dan O'Herlihy) to stop his scheme to scare 50 million children to death on Halloween night, so as to get back to what Halloween is REALLY about. I'll wont reveal anything else, I suggest you see the movie for yourself. Overall a 10 out of 10. Too bad they trashed the idea to make a different one each year. COuldve made some great movies. I also recommend Halloween I, II, and H2O, after III the series went downhill and isnt worth it anymore. I'd also like to point out that Dr.Loomis and Michael are SUPPOSED to be dead after II.

Summary: Dreadful! ZERO stars!!!
Review: This has got to be one of the most boring and tedious movies I have EVER seen, not just out of the Halloween films. The problem isn't that Michael Meyers is not in it. The plot is SO stupid, and the "action" doesn't even start until the last 20 minutes or so. It's not scary at all, is just boring, boring, BORING. It shouldn't even be considered a horror film. I'd put it under science-fiction. Avoid this film at all cost. It wasn't worth the money to make it, and isn't worth the money to rent.

Summary: Halloween III is....different
Review: "Halloween III: Season of the Witch" is a different side of the "Halloween" series. Sure, it doesn't have Jamie Lee Curtis, Donald Pleasence or killer Michael Myers in it, but it stands alone as a creepy film. The plot introduces us to druid warlock Conal Cochran (Dan O'Herlihy), who plans to kill millions of children with his rigged Halloween masks. Dr. Dan Challis (Tom Atkins) and Ellie Grimbridge (Stacy Nelkin) stumble on the plan and travel to the small town of Santa Mira to try to stop the killer scheme. This one has robots wearing suits, bugs and snakes spewing out a kid's head, a nice scene where a man's head is literally ripped off his body and Stonehenge! Although it seemed like a good idea to John Carpenter and Debra Hill, "Halloween III" bombed big time at the box office in 1982 cause people were expecting Michael Myers to be seen. The only time he is seem is briefly during a commercial for the original Halloween. The acting is decent, the music is creepy, but some sequences are gross. (Ala the kid's head spewing bugs and snakes) "Halloween III" is actually a good film, if it isn't compared so much to the other ones.

Summary: It's not THAT bad.
Review: My first exposure to the Halloween movies was when I was a pre-teen. I loved the first one and really liked the rest of the sequels, which I watched non-sequentially. Halloween 3 was the last entry on the roster (mainly because it was so hard to find back then). My cousin finally got a hold of it, we both watched it and never spoke of it again. A Halloween movie without Michael Myers? Humbug! Blasphemy! How dare they! What a garbage movie!

Well, I'm 22 now and decided to buy Universal's re-issue on DVD. Not because I had any fond memories of the film; I'm simply a completist and it drove me BONKERS whenever I saw that one inch gap between my Halloween 2 and 4 DVD's. So, I reluctantly opened up the packaging, put the disc in the DVD player and just laid back with remote in hand. When it was all over, I realized the film is still no masterpiece.

However, it's been years since I've gotten over the fact that Michael isn't in it, so at least I was (ironically) able to watch it for the second time with a fresher perspective. And I have to say, it really isn't that bad. I actually like it better than Resurrection, but I guess that's not really saying much. The story drags sometimes, but the overall concept is interesting. Cochran, the villain, makes for a cool thorn in Tom Atkins' side. I also give the filmmakers kudos for allowing that annoying kid to just shut up and die a really horrible death.

Much has been said about the theme song. You know... "X more days till Halloween, Halloween, Halloween..." And it really does kind of grate on your nerves after you hear it for what seems like fifty times in ten minutes. But, I guess horror buffs can credit Halloween 3 for contributing at least ONE classic attribute to the genre, annoying or not.

If you're not a completist like me, I'd definitely suggest renting before buying. Just watch it with an open mind.

Summary: WILDLY UNDERRATED!
Review: This film is so underrated because there is no Michael Myers! Well, that doesn't mean this is a BAD film! It had a very good plotline! The acting wasn't to great but other than that, this is a good non-sequel! I give it a 6 out of 10!

Summary: Am I the olny one who likes this movie?
Review: Halloween 3 is one the best of the halloween saga, but everyone bashes it because it doesn't have Myers, well I found it fun and somewhat creepy, if you're an open minded person see this movie otherwise I think you'll just think it's a bad film like everone else because there is no Myers, of corse it's not as good as the first 2 but hey it's better than the rest.

Summary: The Halloween Horror Continues!
Review: "Halloween III: Season of the Witch" takes a break from the "Michael Myers" storyline and concentrates on a small California town called, "Santa Mira". There, a large mask-making company called "Silver Shamrock" has opened up, selling popular Halloween masks to the entire country's children. Their advertising covers the media with rhymes, set to the tune of "London Bridge is Falling Down," which chant "Two more days 'til Halloween, Halloween, Halloween..."

Dr. Dan Challis (Tom Atkins), a local doctor, stumbles on a plot to bring about the end of human kind. He, along with Ellie (Stacey Nelkin), a young woman who's father was recently killed, travel inside the factory, where they meet Conal Cochran (Dan O'Herlihy), an old irish goon who has stolen a rock from Stonehenge, which causes mutations in the person who wears a "Silver Shamrock" mask! So tonight, on the most deadly Halloween ever, children across the nation will be watching "Silver Shamrock" commercials, which somehow causes the mutations - their only hope is Dr. Challis and Ellie!

However, Conal Cochran captures both Ellie and Dr. Challis. The doctor is well aware of the devestation of Conal Cochran's plot... so he escapes and with the help of Ellie, he leaves the control center exploding in bursts of flames. He races to get help and to stop the commercials from airing. But unfourtunately, Conal Cochran will have the final Halloween trick of the night.

"Halloween III: Season of the Witch" although not in any way related to the storylines of the other movies in the "Halloween" series, is quite entertaining. The special effects are pretty good, the acting is great, and Jack Carpenter's score is even more eerie than the scores of the other "Halloween" movies he did the scores for. I honestly think that "Halloween III: Season of the Witch" is a modern classic

Although I must say that this movie has been criticized enough. The movie totally flopped all because "Michael Myers" wasn't in it? I think it's crazy that a movie could be criticized that much all because of that one thing. All you have to know before you watch the movie is that you won't be seeing "Laurie Strode," "Michael Myers," "Dr. Loomis," or any of the other characters from the other "Halloween" movies. This movie is a break from all that. It's a new horrific story that contains the same eerie feeling that you get by watching the other "Halloween" movies.

Please give this movie a chance. Forget about "Michael Myers" for once and enjoy this modern classic. Overall, "Halloween III: Season of the Witch" is a good movie. It deserves to be considered part of the "Halloween" series. Buy or rent it today!

Summary: ...you don't know very much about Halloween.-Conol Cochran
Review: John Carpenter's Halloween III "Season of the Witch" is probably a bit unfairly criticized and is actually a pretty good movie. I think one of the biggest problems this movie has is that it is a sequel to Halloween I & II, two of the BEST horror movies of all-time. What was John Carpenter trying to do here? Well, the name of the movie is Halloween, so it appears that in Carpenter's eyes, this movie series was not about Michael Myers, but the idea of Halloween itself.

So, people went to see this movie waiting for Michael Myers, aka "the boogeyman" to slash up more victims and this movie is definitely completely different than the previous two Halloween movies. Halloween III "Season of the Witch" focuses directly on the notoriously evil night of Halloween night...that's what the movie is all about. In this movie, the character of Conol Cochran is a Halloween extremist to say the least...he looks like a normal man, acts like a normal man, but he is an incredibly evil man...I mean this guy is EVIL and he is a witch who loves Halloween and witchcraft.

Cochran is interested in taking the world back to ancient Druid times when human sacrifices were made and as he says, "the hills ran red with the blood of animals and children". Indeed, this is what Cochran wants and to achieve this goal, Cochran uses witchcraft and an ancient power to achieve his evil goal. A trick on the children is what Cochran wants, but this is no ordinary trick...this trick will kill millions and set the world back thousands of years into a time of evil and treachery, all of this which is supposed to happen on Halloween night of course.

I don't want to say anymore about the plot or I will give away too much, but this movie is actually better than people give it credit for. In fact, the score/soundtrack of this movie is one of the best I have ever heard. The music is deathly scary and expresses the evil mood and theme of Halloween brilliantly. I give the movie 3 stars as I thought it was a good effort and in many ways, this movie is much better than Halloween 4, 5, 6, etc., etc. At least, it is original.

Without a doubt, not everyone will like this movie I am sure as it is not for everyone, but if you like Halloween, (not necessarily the original movie) but the day and night of Halloween itself, you will probably enjoy this movie. I recommend watching the movie at least two times before making a judgment as to its merits. There are some pretty good death scenes in this movie as well: man gets his head torn off, a man gets his face pulled apart, and a woman gets a drill in her head.

I am the proud owner of this DVD and I play it every Halloween after Halloween I & II. I consider this movie a good horror movie that is not really scary but does a good job of presenting the Halloween "theme" as did the previous two installments of the Halloween series.

Summary: Decent Movie
Review: I personally think this was a decent movie. I agree with other posts that the acting is pretty average however the storyline is quite interesting. The only complaints i have were the gruesome death of the boy and the ending of the movie. No matter what, you have to end the movie or the viewers will be left unsatisfied and that was certainly the case for this film. Overall a worth while watch without being overly good.
