Rating: Summary: A UNBELIVEABLY BAD FILM FOR A HORROR STORY Review: CHILD'S PLAY in my opinion is the worst of all horror films that I've seen I mean we're supposed to believe a doll can commit all that evil please!!! I'd have an easier time believing that a saint bernard could do that instead. The special effects. acting and plot are all looking like "no pun indtented" like a child thought them up so in my opinion avoid CHILD'S PLAY.
Rating: Summary: Aims for the chilling terror your inner child can't ignore. Review: Five stars in its genre that is. Too much for kids, but not a gore-fest. Couple of gruesome scenes for the die hards, but really a suspense movie for teens to adults who enjoy getting the heebie-jeebies.Being human we have gut instincts about when to be afraid. This movie has a simple device moving it along, but that is why it works. Dolls are creepy, its built in. Prove me right... Buy this movie. Turn out the lights. Start the video. Feel the creeps build up. Turn on a light. Pull your feet onto the couch so the critters underneath can't get you. Shout at the screen (hey your at home). Have a good time letting your inner child get the best of you. I love this movie because it hits its target. Make it a double feature with "Alien" or maybe an older classic like "Curse of the Demon (1957)" and invite friends over.
Rating: Summary: One of the greatest horror stories ever!!! Review: I think this is one of the best horror movies ever made. For those who don't know the plot, it's about a murderer's soul in a friendly-looking doll, who kills people and obviously no one whould ever think he's guilty. If you're a horror-movies fan, you can't miss this one.
Rating: Summary: This movie is SSSSSSCCCCCCAAAAARRRRYYY! Review: This movie scared the heck out of me. Just the thought of a doll coming to life is enough to make anyone get the chills. But watching the movie itself is just as worse as you could imagine! If you have not seen this movie yet you need to run to BLOCKBUSTER or your local video store and check this title out!!!!
Rating: Summary: Stupidest movie ever made!! Review: This is the stupidest movie I have ever seen. Are we supposed to believe that a little gremlin-sized doll is going to start murdering people? Get real. This plot is way too far-fetched.
Rating: Summary: Magnificant! A Real Good Scare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: Really Good! Great! I loved it. The plot was a little stretched but it was pretty good.
Rating: Summary: "Childs play is the worst!!!!!!!!" Review: I think childs play is the most terrible movie of all! I got nightmares from this movie. The doll, chucki is a very evil thing. Id rather watch nightmare on elm street! I hope that who ever did this movie feels guilty, and I am warning kids under 11 to not see this horrer film! I am only 10 years old!
Rating: Summary: A very fun slasher flick! Review: From the back of the DVD: After 6-year-old Andy Barclay's babysitter is violently pushed out of a window to her death, no one believes him when he says "Chucky," his new birthday doll, did it! Until things start to go terribly wrong...dead wrong. And when an ensuing rampage of gruesome murders lead a detective back to the same toy, he discovers that the real terror has just begun...the deranged doll has plans to transfer his evil spirit into a living human being - young Andy! I bought this film on DVD without even renting it first. On the way home, I kept wondering if it was a mistake to do that. Well, it wasn't. The special effects were stunning for a late 80's film and it had a very unique character in it, Chucky. The acting though was great at some parts and horrible at others. There wasn't much gore or a high body count, but the movie is still pretty fun to watch. I give it an 4 out of 5.
Rating: Summary: Classic horror! Review: A maniacal man's spirit somehow gets into a new and popular kind of doll called a Good Guy. Little does anybody know that one of these "Good Guys" may actually turn out to be an evil serial killer with its main victim being a 6 year old boy. I remember back when I was a kid, me and my mom used to go to the video store and rent tons of horror movies. While we were in that period of our lives, one of our favorite horror series was always the "Child's Play" movies. In this original movie, you'll learn the story of Chucky, the doll that turns out to be unlike any other. I've always been a fan of slasher horror movies such as the "Friday the 13th" and "Nightmare on Elm Street" series. While "Child's Play" might not be half as bloody and maybe not as popular, it takes the formula of the two series that I just mentioned, and it does a great job of it. "Child's Play" involves a lot of conflict between people for about the first hour, with hardly any suspense or upbeat horror, but once you see Chucky show his true side, "Child's Play" becomes very suspenseful, even more entertaining, and even scary. My favorite film of the series would have to be a toss-up between "Child's Play" and "Child's Play 2." If you haven't ever seen any of the movies in this series, I recommend watching "Child's Play" first so you can learn the overall plot. If you like great horror movies, I whole-heartedly recommend purchasing "Child's Play." You will NOT be disappointed!
Rating: Summary: A good attempt... Review: This is pretty good. I mean, it sets a good scene, and the suspense when it finally picks up is good. The downside is the pacing. The movie goes along very slowly and of the playing time of around 90 minutes, I'd say 65 or so was dry, boring moments. That aside, the acting is pretty lame -- Catherine Hicks and Alex Vincent are the exceptions. But Maggie's fall out of the window looks particuarly fake. All that aside, the movie is good. I mean for a late 80's flick, the SFX deliver pretty well. Chucky looks a little less realistic than in the next couple, but he really is spooky. The movie was a good concept. A good starter to a great series. Yes, you should rent or buy it.
