Summary: Funny and gorey as hell
Review: I love the HBO Tales From the Crypt series, and when the movie came out when I was younger I knew I had to see it. I was not disappointed at all, Billy Zane and William Sadler are great in their respective roles, and the movie kind of makes fun of itself in a way with the B-movie gore and gratuitous T&A show, but I'm not complaining.

Summary: A suprisingly good horror movie
Review: I was happily suprized when I first watched this movie and now that I own it on video, I am impressed. I am a fan of the series "Tales From the Crypt" and so when I first saw this in the movie theatre I was prepared to give it a "slam dunk" in the bad review pile. However, I was really suprised with the twists and turns in the movie and the great acting by Billy Zane as a Demon with "attitude", William Sadler as the man running from or is he running to?...an unforgettable experience, and Jada Pinkett as the unlikely hero.

The plot has alot of suprises and the special effects add alot to the movie. I recommend this to all fans of the horror genre and those who also enjoy a gripping story.

Summary: Very kool horror phlick!
Review: I once saw this movie on cable late one night. To my surprise, even though this movie does have a strong degree of campy elements, I was highly entertained. It is somewhat gory and scary, but the story is very interesting, especially when it has flashbacks to Golgotha and the Crucifixion.

I would compare this movie to EVIL DEAD 2. It's loads of fun to watch, and will not test your patience on the scariness.

Summary: Billy Zane Rocks!
Review: Funny, scary, and entertaining, "Tales From the Crypt: Demon Knight" is the first of a series of films that are derived from the popular HBO series. Unlike the "Creep show" and "Tales From the Darkside" films of the past, "Tales From the Crypt" focuses on one tale of horror and suspense each time, allowing the story to develop into a more entertaining experience.

Directed by Ernest Dickerson ("Juice") "Demon Knight" features the immense talents of William Sadler, Jada Pinkett Smith, and the ever versatile, amazing Billy Zane in a horror movie laced with plenty of comedic moments. The story revolves around a key that Sadler is carrying in order to pass on to the next guardian. There are a total of 7 keys, representing a galaxy each. According to Sadler's story, the key contains the blood of Jesus Christ. While dying on the cross at Golgotha, a follower of Christ pour his blood into the key to prevent the conquest of earth and the rest of the universe by Satan and his legion of demons. Until all keys are together can this happen, and with 6 of the keys in the hand of demons, the fate of the universe lies on Pinkett Smith's character, who is the chosen one to carry the key after Sadler.

I must praise Billy Zane. He is amazing. He plays the perfect villain, and in this role he is dynamite. His performance is more comedic, and he would make similar villains of the past such as Freddy Krueger very proud. I can understand why Hollywood has typecasted him as a villain in almost all of his films after seeing this film. Zane's intense sex appeal will captivate many viewers, and his range of emotions is incredible.

Pinkett Smith who was coming into films fresh from the cancellation of the long-running NBC series "A Different World," is great. As the heroine of the movie she really can kick butt, and her on-screen chemistry with Zane is perfect.

In conclusion, this a great film to view if you are in the mood for horror mixed in with a bit of dark humor. The film can be strong at times with the sight of gore and violence, but if it weren't for Billy Zane's performance, I wouldn't have cared to watch this film at all. He is one of the film world's most gifted actors and this film was a showcase of his talent before he became a bigger name when he starred in "James Cameron's Titanic." "Demon Knight" is an excellent example of how to create an entertaining horror film. Skip "Blair Witch" and try this film instead.

Summary: Settle down kiddies
Review: I don't know, this movie was entertaining, had some decent shocks and good effects, but Night of the Living Dead it ain't. I don't know if these people have ever seen any other horror movies but to say this is one of the best is just wrong. I enjoyed the concept of them defending the house against a horde of demons, espcecially since there aren't a whole lot of good demon movies. I also thought Zane's performance was good, although a bit over the top, and I enjoyed the concept of the blood creating a barrier and all that. However, plot wise, it's pretty stagnant. And the whole flashback to different points in history just seemed ridiculous and unnecessary. Actually, I really can't think of too many other things that were that "bad" about it. But there's nothing really that good about it either. It's got some cool stuff, and is definetly worth checking out, but I could name at least a dozen better and more effective action/horror movies.

Summary: horror movie or comedy?
Review: It seems to be a great combination of the two!

I don't think I ever saw this show on TV but since reading some of the reviews on this particular edition and the impressive cast list, I was curious to see what the fuss was about. That and the fact that I am a fan of Billy Zane and now William Sadler. I never realized that the latter actor was in so many things, such as "The Green Mile" and the "Roswell" series. I also don't think that I've ever seen Jada Pinkett Smith in anything before. I'm glad that she had a good strong character to sink her teeth into.

What WAS interesting was the way the story developed by way of verbal explanations and flashbacks. At the beginning you weren't quite sure who was the good guy or who was the bad guy but Billy Zane played his role extremely well as the wickedly, funny Collector!

Since watching this movie I was interested to see how many other "Tales from the Crypt" were available to buy on DVD. Especially with the !number of famous people which you can always find in the querky stories. Unfortunately there are only 2 that I could find. Hopefully, there will be more of them in the near future.

A great way to spend 1½ hours!

Summary: A Totally Spectacular And Highly Underrated Horror FiIm!
Review: Note: ...Tales From The Crypt: Demon Knight,is an unbelieveablyawesome horror movie based on the ultra-popular and highly sucessful TV series,Tales From The Crypt. It's quite possibly one of the greatest horror movies ever.It was funny, scary, and most importantly, very very entertaining.Don't expect it to be like Creepshow and Tales From The Darkside: The Movie. It's a brand new tale from the decomposing dude,The Crypt Keeper. This is just wonderful.I can go on how awesome this movie is, but I'll talk about it's best features. The special F/X are absolutely fantastic. The Crypt Keeper looks hideously ugly and really scares...me.Seriously,he does! I'm sure he'll freak you out too! The Demons were terrific.Never mind those Behemoths with Horns sticking from their heads, red skin and fur,Goat legs,Arrow shaped tale, and Trident. These are totally cool Demons. They look REAL freaky. These suckers are the monsters that give our kids their horrifying Nightmares.About 95% of the F/X in TFTC: DK are puppetry and guys in suits.Their are VERY few CGI F/X,but the puppetry is totally awesome. The finale is great too.But don't think that TFTC: DK is one of those flicks that has "All Effects,No Movie".It has F/X AND has SO Much More! The cast is splendid,as is the acting.Billy Zane was absolutely devilish as The Collector and William Sadler was perfect for Brayker, the Hero of DK.Jon Kassir was brilliant at voicing The Crypt Keeper.Besides being unbelieveably ugly,The Crypt Keeper has a voice that'll make you mute the TV.Dick Miller was also wonderful as Uncle Willy. The photography and lighting were done perfectly and flawlessly. The film threw every Hellish twist in the Book at you and never failed. The music is also excellent and fits in perfectly and plays in just the right spots. The direction from Dickerson is totally superb and is extremely accurate. In short,Tales From The Crypt: Demon Knight,is an excellent and VERY underrated horror movie that's one of the best horror flicks of the '90s and is true to the genre. It made me laugh, made me cry, made me scared, and entertained me like I couldn't believe. If your a gorehound, you'll love this one! Decaptations,Dismemberment, and Blood Sucking galore make this a HUGE favorite amongst gore lovers.DK is very much like the horror film,Evil Dead.Evil Dead had some of the most memorable and grossest gore scenes in the History of Holloywood, and so does this! Overall,if you love the Tales From The Crypt TV show, are a big Evil Dead fan,and/or want to see a true horror film, this is for you!

Oh,and I saw the sequel,Bordello Of Blood,but it was 9/10ths empty.It didn't stand a chance against this.

Summary: GREAT MOVIE ON A SHOE-STRING BUDGET
Review: This movie is genuine TFTC. The film is scary and yet funny. All of the acting is done very well and every character is perfectly portrayed. The story-line is excellent and it only has a few characters and a couple of backgrounds, so there are not a million things going on at once. this is not only the greatest horror movie but also one of the greatest movies ever made period.
