Rating: Summary: Zane steals the show. Review: I was a big fan of the Tales from the Crypt TV show. Thus, I am a big fan of this movie. It feels a lot like one of the Creepshow movies but has enough gore, humor and OTT carnage to make it stand on it's own as well as being a big screen spin-off. Brayker (William Sadler) is a drifter who stumbles upon a lonely desert town after an explosive confrontation with The Collector (Billy Zane), a supremely evil being with Satanical powers who is desperate to get his hands on Brayker's mysterious talisman. Brayker spends the night in a shabby motel but The Collector soon turns up and unleashes hell upon the motel and it's inhabitants. This is where the fun really kicks in. The Collector has fun enticing the residents (made up of Dick Miller, Charles Fleisher, Thomas Haden Church, Brenda Bakke, Jada Pinkett-Smith and CCH Pounder) to join him on his dark quest and steal the talisman from Brayker. Director Ernest Dickerson (who also did Surviving the Game) does not hold back on the gore as he spoofs 1950's B-movies, honor's the TV show and pays brilliant homage to the Tales From The Crypt comic book legacy. It may seem like a cheap, horror comedy with no artistic integrity but Dickerson successfully pulls of a movie that will satisfy and entertain anyone who watches it. Of course half of the movie's appeal lies with Billy Zane who acts out the role of The Collector with such wicked charm and delightful evil. You can tell he's having a great time and he makes a formidable villain for Sadler's dishevelled hero. They should make more Tales From The Crypt movies, but producer's Robert Zemeckis, Gilbert Adler and Joel Silver (Walter Hill and David Giler ducked out) went on to found Dark Castle, the production company behind House on Haunted Hill, Thir13en Ghosts and Ghost Ship. This new DVD by Universal is better than the old one from Image. This time be get the film in it's proper aspect ratio of 1.85:1 anamorphic with a Dolby 5.1 soundtrack. The old snapper case is gone and in it's place is a sturdy keep case. Demon Knight is definitely one to get.
Rating: Summary: Fun and Enjoyable Review: Since I love horror films so much, I was skeptical when watching this at first. Because what can you expect from a popular tv series? I mean, what else can this show do except show blood and gore, silly unbelievable stories and then the crypt keeper making an appearance? It has all that, of course. And more.
....Wow, what a shocker...the story is just great, and I was into it the whole time. The acting is classic, and you know that everyone put their whole selves into these roles because they were so much fun to do! I loved the appearances by Dick Miller, Jada Pinkett, William Sadler and Brenda Bakke. Talk about a mixture of people, all acting together. Those are always great ones to watch, when the dialogue is so much fun to hear.
I'm very surprised and thankful, that they used a story which no one has really done well before. Demons taking over mankind, posession, bodies being torn apart, stories of the end of the world, etc. Most of those type of films are so campy and boring. With a great script and well thought out production design, this film is more of a drama in some ways because it's not ALL BLOOD AND GORE. It's real people in an unbelievable situation.
The best thing about this film is Billy Zane. He takes advantage of his sarcastic and twisted humor, and completely hamms it up. Every time he enters a scene with these people, he's scary and hilarious at the same time. And definately in a role that he could play at no end: the lovable and convincing Lord of Darkness...the devil himself.
From beginning to end, the film was a lot of fun without having to depend on the use of gore and violence. I had to buy it, only because I love it when a good story with good actors makes me laugh.
Rating: Summary: one good flick Review: i seen this when it first came out at the movies and still to this day i think it is a great movie. Its a shame the tales from the crypt people had to screw up what was going to be a series of movies that were to be true horror but insted they wanted a skin flick with Dennis Miller for chirst sake!!!! but what can you do. I would of given it 5 stars for the acting is mostly good some parts can be shakey but still pretty soild. The FX are outstandingly brilent and this is the best work of william sandler and billy zane. One of my major complants is with the dvd no extras!!! Which i know they have in a film vault some were but if you like horror and are looking for something different check out demon knight
Rating: Summary: Great Movie.........a classic horror Review: This DVD is perfect.....yet only content-wise (meaning the movie) other than that the tech side of this DVD is terrible. But the Movie itself is great enough reason to grab this......no bells, or whistles here just a great horror flick. this is 100 times greater of a movie than the follow-up "Bordello Of Blood" which was a joke.
Rating: Summary: Prepare to Take on the Unholy hords Review: This movie came out when I was twelve and in the beggining it scared the living fluff out of me. But for some strange reason I found myself watching it over and over again. The story of this movie created a fantasy in my play world around my house battling any evil spoil on the earth. The story is a basis of gore and action, with great fight scene's and mad demonic posetion. Derived in a run down Hotel a small party of people are found in the hands of a ipocolyptic Deamon that is bent on takeing all ther souls. And one soul heroin that is desdend to be a Demon Knight.

Rating: Summary: It's always better on DVD. Review: Demon Knight, its a Tales from the Crypt movie. It is so much better than the Boredello of Blood, its not funny. The audio on Demon Knight, I thought was better on VHS. (I could here the dialog better on video, but that's also on a $600 JVC.) Still, DVD offers better picture even at it's worse. If you like Tales from the Crypt, You'll like Demon Knight. You might even think about God, demons and what if's. It could actually inspire you, maybe. It's a good Tale. Billy Zane, and Willam Sadler are great with a good cast of familiar faces. Faces from Wings, Night Court, The Nutty Professor (remake) and American Gothic (TV show).
