Summary: Too much build up to deliver
Review: Ever since I first heard about this movie I wanted to see it. All the things I read or heard about sounded great. Who doesn't like a good horror movie? Well after hearing and reading about this movie for 3 years there was no way it could live up to my expectations. I had actually heard it was awful and I almost didn't go see it but I talked myself into it. It was ok, not good but also not completely bad either. Zombie had some killer visuals in the movie. Some shots and things he did reminded me a lot of Oliver Stone's work on Natural Born Killers and U-Turn. I can't recommend this movie however, becuase of all the edits it had to go through to hit the big screen. What it left us with is a mess of jumbled images that just don't work. There were several things in the movie that I could tell had more to them that was left on the cutting room floor. With that said if Zombie puts out an uncut version on DVD, I will buy it for sure. Zombie should have stuck to his guns and put it out uncut as a NC-17 feature. I think that alone would have made this movie great and would have doubled it's opening gross.

Summary: Lots of Fun.....If Your Demented
Review: I saw Rob Zombie's "House of 1000 Corpses" last night, and had a blast. If you loved "Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2", and "The People Under the Stairs" for their blend of dark humor and shocking scenes then you will enjoy this movie. This movie is NOT the movie for folks who enjoyed "Scream" or "Final Destination". This is not a standard cookie-cutter horror flick. Zombie's tale will get you laughing one moment and in the next moment you will be riveted by some nightmarish scene. It was great to see Karen Black back on the big screen and her role as Matriarch of the Firefly household is one of her most memorable. Bill Moseley is great, taking his "Chop Top" character to a whole new menacing level here, and I really enjoyed the odd and menacing character of "Tiny". This movie really took me back to some great 70's/80's horror, and if possible, "House of 1000 Corpses" should be viewed at your local Drive-in.

Summary: The Holy Grail of Gore Horror
Review: Seeing as how this film is only going to have a limited release, I suggest you go see it this weekend with a lady friend. A chance to see a film of this sort in the theatre is a rare one, and you best take up the oppurtunity given to you. What we have on our hands here is some ultra-cool 70s vintage gore horror taken to the extreme. Rob Zombie directs some very skilled character actors in an intentionally cliched plot of "stop for gas, get mixed up in bloody hijinks". Zombie laid the archetype foundations and then went where no horror film with a wide release has gone before. I found it minimally entertaining, but those who enjoy horror movies will probably love it. I think I'll go see it again.

Summary: it kept my attention
Review: I have been a huge rob zombie fan for a long time. When I heard he was making this movie I knew that I was going to see it. I loved every minute of it. For a first time director he was pretty amazing. yeah he has directed music videos but this is different. it had a perfect cast too. and the thing that made it awesome for me was the ending which i refuse to give away to those who haven't seen the movie. let's just say, you get your moneys worth. this is definitely a film that i want in my collection.

Summary: A good time at the movies, seventies style.
Review: This is Rob Zombie's homage to seventies horror (and in particular, the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE movies). HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES is styled mostly on the first CHAINSAW film, with lots of doses of humor and attitude from the second one thrown into the mix.

I thought, for the most part, Zombie did a really good job. HOUSE is an inventive and fun movie-going experience...a horror movie made by someone who actually loves horror movies. In today's increasingly bottom-line-minded Hollywood, that makes it quite the rarity.

What's the last movie you saw in the theater that featured generous helpings of Brian DePalma-rama split-screen?

HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES isn't perfect, but it's definitely worth seeing if most of today's horror movies make you squirm for the wrong reasons. As a director, Zombie is maybe a little too fond of the various posterize effects and other high-school-film-project trappings he uses. Also, the the picture drags and gets a little muddled in the last reel, but all in all, it's a good time at the movies, seventies style.

Summary: Unflinching Horror
Review: This movie is violent, entertaining, well shot, and it has a strong cast of characters. Rob Zombie is great at staging a scene and his screenplay, while lacking originality of concept, makes up for it in execution. Features a strong cast of genre character actors including Bill Mosely (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2), Sid Haig (Spider Baby), and Karen Black (Trilogy of Terror). It also includes the ultra hot Sheri Moon (appeared in many of Rob Zombie's music videos).

Summary: ugh
Review: SO... i was waiting along time to watch this - as was everyone (including rob himself) and im utterly disappointed.

the movie starts off good and adds some humor and twisted characters to the mix - but the movie soon spirals into a bloodbath of the worst kind.

if Rob wanted to make a movie where we 'rooted for the bad guys' he should have added a bit more camp 'like - evil dead' but this is too close to reality to be funny - it's like watching real people get killed just for the sake of them dying. There's no motive to the killing (which i thought there might be halfway through)..just killing. And while people dying in a horror movie is normal - it's just feels empty as hell in this movie.

(to its credit - they made the audience feel as if we were watching people die and be afraid, etc...by it's good acting and direction...but is that a good thing?)

i liked some of the tv-style visuals and negative film art - but it couldn't help a bad movie.

rob - for your next attempt - please use your wild looking cartoons and monsters to shock us with weird worlds and a better story..this was just a horror movie about people dying .. grossly.

and afterwards - i felt dirty and sad to be human. if humans are like that -and they are- why should we glorify it or even be reminded of it.

Summary: Zombie's First Try A Very Good One
Review: I saw this movie on opening night and I walked away happy. I did expect better from Zombie but I was not disappointed. I'll save my final judgement for the uncut version(since it originally had an nc-17 rating). It played like a Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie with a few plot twists. Zombie did create some very nice areas that broke away from the movie and the camera work was excellent. Beautiful idea to bring back some of the b-movie horror stars the now generation have not seen. I didn't jump from fear, I didn't turn my head from gore, but I laughed in all the right spots and was able to follow the film during the intense spots. I was bound and determined to like this movie and guess what....I did. I think if you like this type of movie, you'll like this movie.

Summary: If you're a serious horror freak THIS IS A MUST SEE!!!
Review: If you are one to base your decisions by what newspapers/critics say then obviously you are the type of person who should sit home rent your 'I know what you did last summer' flick and then tell everyone that it was the best horror movie ever. In other words you are a person who has no taste and appreciation of real horror/gore.
Anyway 'House of a 1000 Corpses' has been delayed for close to 2 [] years until Lion Gate ent. came forward and spit in the face of the stupid past distributors. This marks the directorial debut of musician/genius Rob Zombie. If you have never heard of him then you listen to [bad] music and probably live in a hole. This movie is amazing. Simply put. When I go to a movie I want to be entertained. If it's a comedy then I expect to laugh, or at least hope to. Same goes when it comes to horror. This movie borrows a little from 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre', 'Alice in Wonderland' (ending part, in tunnel), and some others. Too many [people] want to make critical comments about this movie, blah, blah. IT'S A HORROR MOVIE FOLKS NOT [] GONE WITH THE WIND HERE, GIVE THE GUY A BREAK!!! The movie captures the essence of all those good ole' fashion horror movies; messed up family, disturbing images and that their is no 'happy ending' for the innocents. Zombie does some interesting things w/sound, camera angles and this helps to make this original, in some aspect. Case in point: (spoiler alert). When the cop is about to get shot and there is a big delay, before the actual killing, and the sound is turned off, but comes back once the deed is done. Pure genius!! Just put yourself in the cop's shoes. That time before he is killed probably seemed like an eternity to him, hence Zombie captures that emotion perfectly. Few can do that in horror. From what I understand Zombie will actually release a director's cut on dvd. This will have the movie in its origianl gory form, the way he wanted it, but was forced to butcher(no pun intended) it so it could have an actual release. Well the product in theaters is still actually quite violent/gory, but I could tell where the cuts were made. So it will be a blessing to see the movie, in its true intended form, once it comes to dvd. For his first movie Zombie did an amazing job (c'mon people that footage he filmed w/Albert Fish, Ed Gein and Dr. Satan looks pretty damn real, like it was from an 8mm camera-amazing). Doubtful he will make a sequel, one can only hope. However I cannot wait for his next movie-he has quite an imagination. Go see this if you are a real hardcore horror fan-you will not be disappointed!!
