Summary: Too much, too late
Review: I have waited a long time (over two years) for this film. As each month went by, and studio after studio refused to distribute the movie, I began to wonder what was so gruesome. Then, in April of this year, I found out. What a let down. The idea is that some unappealing kids get lost on their way to, well, somewhere (?). Then they go looking for local urban myth Dr. Satan, based on directions from a John Wayne Gacy-like clown dressed killer. They find a weird family in the middle of nowhere. The rest of the movie is slow, dull, and a lot of weirdness that dosn't make a lot of sense, something about cannibleism, zombies, and some kind of underground tunnels with monsters of some kind. Rob Zombie shamlessly ripper off "Texas Chainsaw Massacre", but forgot the idea that made the first so memerable, the subtlety, streight forward point of veiw camera work, sometimes flash can work against you, and there is flash and hyper-style to burn here. Is there anything that I did like; yes. I liked the WAY excessive use of blood and gore. That is the one thing I like. The lack of coherense killed me. Maybe it was intentional, make it like a living nightmere, but it just turned me off.

Summary: Its worth it
Review: I'll keep it short- depending on your tastes, it might be scary, but if you're used to alot of gore (say, dawn of the dead), then it won't surprise you- and if you've seen Texas Chainsaw Massacre, be prepared for more of the same.
But it's good. If you're a fan of Rob Zombie you'll dig the little movie clips and sounds, if not it's something new. I would reccomend seeing it, especially for those out there who aren't into older horror movies for something different to try out. I'm cant wait for the DVD Unrated release to come out. (I can't believe this sat on the shelves for 3 years. What Tthe ... is wrong with our 'big brother'?!?)

Summary: A tribute to horror movies
Review: I waited to see this film for about 3 years when I first heard about it I was interested. Well I was there when it finally opened and in fact have seen it twice. I liked it the first time around and liked it even more the second time around. The plot i thin acting over the top and heavy on the violence and gore, JUST LIKE A HORROR MOVIE SHOULD BE! I have enough Scream and I know what you did last summer to last a lifetime finally someone has taken horror back. Still not convinced? My second viewing was with this girl from work who told me she liked horror movies just as much as I did and she kept up pretty good on the knowledge. When we left the movie theater she told me that it made her feel a little queasy which means it was good and anyone who likes horror movies should give this a try. Oh she also said she didn't think she could handle the uncut dvd that will come out later. I for one cannot wait to own this movie.

Summary: It would be premature to criticize this film...
Review: It is unfair to criticize the current, theatrical version of Rob Zombie's directorial debut, HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES. It is clear to me that large portions of the film have been censored in order to receive a R-rating. Much of the middle section, in particular, was obviously excised.

What is playing now in theaters is nothing more than a preview of the unedited director's cut.

WHAT I CAN SAY IS THIS: No matter how mutilated and butchered the current version is, what remains is exhilarating and vivid and far more unpredictable than most of what passes as "cinema" in the United States.

Rob Zombie obviously has brilliant optical and musical sensibilities. The soundtrack---in particular, the
songs, "P[----] Liquor" and the title track---are excellent. And the imagery is STUNNING.

Because I am apparently not allowed to make remarks on politics in this forum, I will say nothing about the political content of the film here.

Wait until HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES is released uncensored on DVD before you judge it.

Summary: All I can say is........
Review: I waited 2 and ahalf years of this piece of garbage. It was nothing what I thought it would be.When the DVD comes out I might try to see it again,if there's a unrated version on the disk. Not scary and not even as gory as I hoped it would be.Don't waste your time and your money. But I still think Rob Zombie rocks!

Summary: THE BEST IN YEARS
Review: ROB ZOMBIE ROCKS ! ITS ABOUT TIME I WENT TO A MOVIE THEATER AND WITHIN 15 MINUTES I AM NOT WONDERING WHEN THE MOVIE IS GOING TO END GOOD GOD WHAT A GREAT MOVIE. IF YOU MISS IT IN THE THEATER IT JUST MEANS YOU WILL WAIT A LONG TIME TO SEE IT. A TRUE HORROR FAN HAS GOT TO SUPPORT THESE TYPES OF MOVIES SO WE GET MORE. IF YOU DON'T SUPPORT GOOD STUFF THEY WILL KEEP THE LOVE STORIES COMING. I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE DVD BECAUSE THEY WILL PUT ALL OF THE DELETED SCENES BACK. THIS MOVIE IS WHAT I WOULD HAVE EXPECTED THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE TO BE LIKE,BUT I THINK IT BLEW THAT MOVIE AWAY! NO QUESTION !IT WAS NICE TO SEE THESE ACTORS ESPECIALLY THE GUY FROM TEXAS CHAINSAW WHICH HE WAS GREAT IN TOOOOOOO DON'T MISS IT YOU'LL BE SORRY!

Summary: Wanna get your head chopped off?
Review: I loved every second of this movie. First it has no special effects, which is just fine, because it adds to the reality of the story. The characters themselves are like something out of a todd Mcfarlane comic book, like Spawn. The idea of a house of crazies who love to play with their food is awesome. The actors in the movie did a great job. I like the idea of first going through a scary exibit ride to find out what the characters of the cannibals and necrophiliacs are really like, then to get to meet them up close and personal. I totally want to see this movie again. I'm ordering the Soundtrack to the movie. I can already tell that this movie is definently the cult film of the decade. I hope everybody who watches this movie has a open mind, strong stomach, and a sense of despair in their life

Summary: Chop Zombie!
Review: There is no way the audience is seeing everything as it was meant to be seen in Rob Zombie's long-awaited, barely-kept afloat, studio-shunned spook show House of 1000 Corpses. I truly believe the man is a visionary and if this was a silent film I would be impressed solely by his filmmaking technique. But, I'm sorry to say that the horror genre has a huge responsibilty that no other genre has in American cinema. What I'm talking about is two-fold and has to do with shock value and atmosphere. Forget a story, its not important in a movie that gives you a body count as part of it's title. I'm talking about visuals that you don't forget, that stay with you for years(i.e. the pea soup in The Exorcist or the twins in The Shining). And as far as shock value is concerned, how about the ending of The Sixth Sense or the entire movie of I Spit on Your Grave. House of 1000 Corpses has the imagery, but not the shock. It has substance, yet its not a substantial horror film. If you are a Rob Zombie fan and have been waiting for three years, I caution you that disappointment could be inevitable. One of the trailers for this film stated in huge words on the screen that it was SHOCKING and that it was HARDCORE. It was neither as it made me continuously ponder how much Zombie was forced to cut from the original print. I guess the DVD release could tell the tale in it's truest form and I hope that is the case. But its definitly not a bad movie and it runs circles around fellow rock star Dee Snider's Strangeland. But from a man who's last name defines a worm-eaten walking dead guy, a man who has constantly given pop culture superior metal albums and who claims to be the biggest horror movie fan of all time, it would have been more fitting had the movie been so offensive that it would provoke my leaving the cineplex in disgust and fear. In the case of House of 1000 Corpses, its funny, freaky at times, not that scary and not that memorable. Try again Rob, you've at least earned a second swing based on how the movie looks.

Summary: A WASTE OF 90 MINUTES! YOU'LL WANT YOUR MONEY BACK!
Review: I'll make this short and simple. This movie was horrible. I love horror films, and am a Rob Zombie fan as well, which is why I gave the movie a try. I left the theater feeling like I have just spent the worst 90 minutes of my life. ...

Summary: genius denied
Review: Rob Zombie's genius has once again been [debased] by the FCC. The version of his movie "House of 1000 Corpses" released into theaters recently cannot possibly be the vision Zombie had when he started the project. For the FCC to give the movie an R rating it has effectivly neutered the vision. Anyone out there with personal integrity will [avoid] this watered down theater version and wait patiently for the un-edited DVD release.
